I thought that I would take the time to write a little peice on the value of the Mercedes-Benz W126 Sedan after reading time after time the spoiled little bratts on BenzWorld.org claim that they will never be worth anything.
Within the next 10 years as these vehicles get smashed, stripped and start shrinking in numbers you will find that they will start rasing tremendously in value. For anyone to think that a vehicle that once cost $60-$80K will not rebound after hitting its low is either a complete idiot, or trying to cash in on YOUR Mercedes. One can not deny that the cost to service and repair these vehicles is what has allowed many to be let go at such bargans. Another factor to consider is the economy and gas prices which have made many let them go. Bottom line is that people are not selling their Mercedes because the dont like them, they are selling them because they cant afford them.
I say avoid them idiots in the W126 forum on BenzWorld.org. Most of them are not even worthy of the vehicles they drive. I would imagine that a vast majority of them have been handed down their W126's and fail to understand what they have been given. It will give me great pleasure to rub it in their faces in the next ten years.
Its like anything else that becomes a collectors item... You have to be able to hold on to them. The ones that cant will be the ones screaming from their Honda's "Gas guzzler" as you pass them on the road. Of course we wont be able to hear them, as our cars were built to keep such whining from ever reaching our ears. I once had a person scream "Over Engineered" as I drove past him. He was an older gent whom likley let his go and was green with envy. It made me feel good.
My moral of this story is... HOLD ON TO YOUR W126... When they make the turn and start increasing by 10K per year you will thank me. When you start seeing badly stripped and beaten Mercedes selling for 10K as a project you will be sick. One only needs to look back at just about any vehicle that has reached the point of collectors status to see this.
I cannot deny that in the persut of learning about these vehicles that I have cut down over ONE MILLION MSRP dollars of W126 Mercedes. While I have done my best to share this information with others and take the best possible photos, I myself will one day be one of the sick feeling people whom wished that I could have saved them all. While not practicle I did it in effort to make money, learn, and share information. I also took much time to save everything I could and I must admit that I could make a house out of Mercedes parts as I have that many. One also must not forget that when new these vehicles cost more than the average HOME in their day! I feel blessed to have been offered such an oppertunity and hope that I can keep it up for years to come.
Take my word for it my friends... Its time to stop de-valuing our fine automobiles. Its time to join together to bring back the original sticker price and more. Together we can do it!

I guess it should be enough to have the pleasure of driving one every day, but in my business I get a fair share of cheap skates.
It take a lot to own and drive a Mercedes, and when I say own and drive a Mercedes that means your daily driver is a Mercedes. Not drive a Honda by day, and try and front like a Benz man during the weekend. I just dont think its the same, but that could just be me.
I guess in a way we should all enjoy it. Once they become so scarce people start putting large bounties on them, it might fall prey to some idiot with more money than brains.
I figure Ill need a 4 door sedan for at least 12 more years. Id like to think that I can retire this vehicle for a sports car once Im no longer toating my kids around. When you own a car long enough, and it takes you to places far and near, keeps you warm in the winter and cool in the summer, and after awhile it just becomes like a part of the family.

As of now ALL W126's are considered "Classics" and as such we see a bump...
NADA Reports that in this area (Detroit MI) the 1991 560 SEL is worth $7000 (Low) to $15,000 (High). This with entering a mileage of 200,000!
Naturally the W126's new-found "Classic" status has added quite a bit of value, as just 5 short years ago my car had a NADA value between $2500 (low) -$8000 (high).
Keep in mind, the valuations by NADA are not set in stone, and very clean, low mile, cream-puff versions can and will command much higher values, and that is stated right there on NADA's website too.
So... I stand by my statement that these cars WILL appreciate substantially as the years continue to roll by. I should also mention that the Mercedes that will be worth THE MOST are the ones that have NOT been modified or fucked with. That means that all these people out there modding out their Mercedes (BenzWorld.org crew) will be the ones that are devalued. When it comes to a "classic" people don't give a shit what YOU thought was cool, they are looking for that "classic" Mercedes Benz W126 ride, reliability and style, NOT the bullshit snot nosed punk kid mods.
You can take that to the BANK!

It's inevitable that the rarer the W126's become, the more desirable and expensive they become. Timeless styling along with comfort and power, not to mention the capability of endless hours of mile-munching at high-speed make for a desirable vehicle....Whoops...Did I forget to mention reliablity ?... And the proof of reliability, performance, and class only gets better and better as each year and mile passes ! I would have to say that the 2-door SEC W126's were always destined to be one of the most desirable cars that anybody could own, with the 4-door variants a more family or passenger moving variant of near equal appeal. Class is class, and the best is the best, if you can't recognize this, you never will !
Cheers,
Rastus
