The New APPLE IPHONE 3G S and the updated 3.0 Software for the older 3G's

Well it had to come sooner or later. A bigger and bader Apple Iphone.

The new Apple Iphone 3G S is now in stores. With the top of the line unit packing a 32G storage capacity and a bunch of new little toys such as Voice Activation, Internet Tethering, Compass, and many other interesting features including the ability to located and wipe your Iphone in the event that it is lost or stolen. Not only that you can text your Iphone to let the would be thiefs know you are tracking them, and how they can go about returning it! LOL and as funny as that sounds its TRUE.

Outside of new sales for Apple, and new 2 year contracts for AT&T the new features for the Iphone with the exception of the increased memory models, most of these upgrades are simply "Software" upgrades, or things that could have been intergraded into the 3.0 software upgrade for the now "older" 3G Iphones.

Since were on the topic of the 3.0 software upgrade I will also mention that the first time I tried to update to this new software, it messed up my phone and I had to call in to complain. They did however get the problem resolved without having to make me sit in one of their Apple stores for three hours like I had to the last time I upgraded the firmware. I think they just realized I wasnt going to buy nothing from them, and that having my appointment given to someone else whom was more likely to buy would merit getting my firmware fixed up over the phone a better decision.

Anyway I am a little pissed that the Voice activation feature and compass are not something they are willing to incorporate into the new 3.0 upgrade, however I do understand that they are a business and wish to offer up something new for the market to consume.

With regards to the ability to "Teather" your Iphones 3G internet, well that is somewhat of a joke, at least here in the USA where it specifically states (with asterisk and small fine print at the bottom) that internet teathering is not available to US customers at this time. This is somewhat bullshit given the fact they nail your for $30.00 a month for internet, PER DEVICE. In my case we have two Iphones and as such billed $30 X 2! Upon asking them to cease any and all internet to our other phone they claimed it could not be done. Funny thing is after my big fight with AT&T they managed to hook mine up without internet, and without the billing for said internet as a reminder that they like to screw with people. I had to call in to have the internet re-activated and the other representative told me everything they claimed they couldnt do.

I had to bump this because the new iPhone 13 comes out tomorrow...

Not sure if I'm ready...

The kids are on their own, if they want upgrades they will have to pay me for them. The wife says she's fine with her phone for another five years...

I dunno...

I prolly won't upgrade unless the XIII is really cool.

Hear that the new XIII has SAT-PHONE ability, which means it can make calls without your carrier! Not sure how that works but I plan on tuning in.

I wouldn't bother with it at all...

Also, I couldn't vote, since I use a regular cell-phone still...In fact, when we went from 2G to 3G, my service provider gave me a free, crappy, Samsung phone, that replaced my perfectly fine & still operating Nokia 2800...

I highly recommend that people use a computer for your internet needs, & a cell-phone for you telephone needs...This way, YOU take control back of your life, & decide what you want / need, when you actually need it :) !

You're probably right Rastus...

Currently I am paying for four lines of service so it really does not matter internet or not... I have to look beyond what "I" would use and what others on the plan could get me into, sometimes of no fault of their own!

So I use my cell for both! It teathers when the main internet goes down, which is often, so I really never miss a beat.

But I have always been a tech fan... I look forward to the Apple launch none the less, if only because it's a habit at this point.

My phone would probably last another five years too... And the iPhone X is built like a tank! So glad I went with the max storage, I think this is the main reason we have gotten so much use out of them.
