Well if it opens by itself thats somewhat of a "Good" thing. If it will open then the tracks/arms are not broken.
Is it stuck open now? Perhaps it could be just a simple switch? How about the rubber ring that goes around the power antenna? Is that cracked? Possible water getting into the circut? The power antenna is very close to the power roof motor, and the water could be shorting it out.

Sounds like you got broken lift hinges. They break and sometimes they cause the roof to be stuck in the tilted possition. You have a few choices, one is to lower the roof to keep out the rain and then fix it later (this may require damaging your lift hinges further but if they are broke they are broke), or the other is to fix it now. The sunroof can be a pain in the rear until you have done a few.
