Today I did a water pump on a KIA Rio, dont normally work on Aisan vehicles but I trying to help someone out. What I found very disturbing was the fact that KIA parts are produced with a Mercedes-Benz star. Yes you could have knocked me over with a feather when there it was, Mercedes-Benz stars on many of their parts.
At first glance no one could ever tell the diffrence. What they do is certain to have people thinking that KIA manufatures parts for Mercedes-Benz. What KIA has done is an absolute outrage!
After pulling the water pump and getting in real close it appears that KIA, in an effort to thwart any lawsuits, decided to put little tiny angles at the corner, however the normal person would think it was tried and true Mercedes-Benz issue. While I have much experence with Mercedes parts I know that every part Mercedes makes has the part number and the Mercedes logo on it. If it was pre 96 then just about every part also said made in West Germany.
What upsets me about this pump made in Korea was the fact they would sink to such levels. I mean there it was, as plain as day, a Mercedes Logo right under the name KIA. I took photos however you may not even notice the slight diffrence as its that hard to tell.
Have a look and tell me. Keep in mind that just above the Mercedes looking star is the word KIA with a circle around it. Might to be hard to make out in the photo however they are raised letters.

Seems like I was right on par when I wrote the thread above. Lately I have been seeing KIA advertisements that compare their shit boxes to Mercedes Benz! Total joke if you ask me! There is NOOOOOOOOOO WAYYYYYYYYY a Kia could hold a candle to a Mercedes of ANY CLASS.

Additionally, Mercedes Benz does NOT make parts for KIA.
What has been observed is that KIA tries to mimic Mercedes-Benz's logo on their parts. Upon VERY CLOSE inspection you can tell that the logo KIA uses is ever so slightly different.
Without a doubt it is KIA that is trying to imitate Mercedes Benz. Just look at their vehicles and right away you can tell who they copied off. Everything looking just slightly different than a Mercedes-Benz. It's so obvious it's almost cute, like their little rodent car commercials. I think that speaks volumes about KIA owners in general.

When I saw what appeared to be a Mercedes emblem on a Kia Rio water pump it really hurt. As a matter of a fact the only reason I did the job was to get a closer look at that emblem. Thank goodness it turns out to be another lame attempt by KIA to "Pretend" they are Mercedes.
