I recently bought a 1990 560SEC. With just over 55,126 miles. I will post pictures soon. It was one I was watching for many years. I knew the owner and remembered when he originally bought it new. The owner past away and the car sat in a climate contorted garage. It was offered for sale and I bought it in October. I paid quite a bit. However, I know the 560SEC's complete history. I call her "the 560SEC" because I have not come up with a good nick name.
The 560SEC is having a problem or two with her age. I had to fix the emergency breaks and I replaced the brakes as well. I like to fix things that are in close proximity to save time and money. For example, When I had the back wheels off I polished the chrome AMG Aero rims. And I replaced the rear brakes at the same time. Even thought they were good. One more thing off the check list.
Currently I am having trouble with the oil pressure. I am tempted to take the lower oil pan off and checking things out. Some advise I read was to check the lower rubber portion of the oil pump. That and I know I want to replace the valve cover seals. The I wonder if it would make more sense to remove the engine and do a light overhaul. Replace the items that are none to fail because of there age and not due to mileage. A Mercedes mechanic once said to replace the timing change and the rails because they get old and brittle.
Any advise will be greatly appreciated!!! I am not rich and I do not claim to have all the answers. I am just a Mercedes Benz enthusiast. For the love of the car.
