For some reason I don't think the tax payers should be on the hook for Obama's new bus that he is using to tour the country campaigning. I got a feeling this bus is going to be the straw that broke the camels back for many.
Spend-Spend-Spend, that's all Obama seems to be good at.... Spending our money and running up debt.
I hope the DNC is forced to pay for this Bus and Obama's paycheck is docked for the time he is spending on the campaign trail.
If you look at a photo of the Bus it's painted ALL BLACK, which is contrary to Obama's big "Green" initiative where he told everyone switching from black shingles to a lighter grey or white would reduce global warming. Guess his plans to have the White House painted black were denied.
With a cost of $1.1 million dollars for the bus alone, and the amount of money it's going to cost for police blocking off roads, ect. it's safe to say he isn't saving Americans any money. Sure it may save money over a long period of time, but I am pretty sure Obama will only get to use it for another year before he is voted out of office.
Lets also not forget about the Cadillac he had GM build him. Seems Obama is living large on the public dole! Campaigning with tax payer dollars? I smell impeachment!

Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan emphasized that the bus wasn't purchased solely for the president and would be used for other dignitaries in the future. He said the agency has not previously had buses in its fleet and was overdue to get some since it's had to protect politicians traveling by bus for decades. First Read: Did Perry go too far? In the past, the service has had to lease buses and retrofit them for that purpose.
Donovan said two buses were purchased and one is being used by Obama as he travels through Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois. Both will be used by other officeholders and candidates.
Donovan declined to comment on the buses' design or capability. He said the decision to purchase the buses was made about a year ago but had been under discussion longer, and that the money was taken from a fund for transportation and armored vehicles.
The DNC doesn't own the bus, we the taxpayers do. It's in the Secret Services fleet, and as such, the President gets first dibs on using it... So will the next president. I don't know whether the DNC has to reimburse the usage costs when it's used for campaigning like they do with Air Force One, but really, don't you have any bigger fish to fry than this?
The man was freely elected to be President of our country by a majority of citizens. The job comes with many perks, this is one. And by the way, all modern presidents get new armored Cadillacs. I don't remember you whining about the one Bush got. If you're going to bloviate, at least do it with less hypocrisy.

As someone who has to hear about the national debt and out of control government spending I have to give pause when I read about a million dollar bus being used for the purpose of campaigning. It's the mentality of "don't you have bigger fish to fry" that allows this out of control spending to continue.
While Obama may have been able to sway the masses of 50 IQ citizens to jump on his gravy train and vote him in office that does not mean squat. The man has done a poor job in office and given the fact he is using the new bus to campaign in area's that have recently been fired up by possible Republican contenders for President it's clear to see he is abusing his "perks" as you would call them.
I don't recall Bush having GM build him a brand new Cadillac limo so if you got a link that would be great. Considering that GM was taken over by the Government it's not too much of a stretch to say we got double dipped on Obama's Cadillac.

In the past, the service has had to lease buses and retrofit them for that purpose.
Wouldn't it be less expensive to have used one of the 100's of Limo's Obama ordered? Or perhaps have him travel by rail? I keep hearing about how the SS had to retrofit the rented bus but never ONCE have I head how much these retrofits cost. From what I hear the bus was REALLY made in Canada and then done up with the extras in TN. Seems like the money really went to Canada and the Americans who USED to have a job retrofitting the buses are now on the unemployment line. Another thing I question is how fuel efficient this new bus is? Does it meet the requirement that Obama is trying to ram down the rest of the nations large vehicle fleets? I mean he's putting the squeeze on Ford, GM and all of the companies that use HD vehicles to pay more for their vehicles when they upgrade due to these regulations, it would be nice to see Obama set an example but I doubt he thinks of these things. We all need to cut back, conserve, go green and listen to Lord Obama but when it comes to him and his government they can't be bothered to live up to the standards they impose on all of us!
Donovan said two buses were purchased and one is being used by Obama as he travels through Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois. Both will be used by other officeholders and candidates.
Did Donovan also mention the fact that Air Force one would still be taking Obama to the start of the tour, and then back home at the end? I am pretty sure Obama didn't jump on this bus and ride it all the way from Washington to his first destination. Once his campaigning is over do you think Obama will ride this bus all the way back to Washington to start his vacation? Or do you think he will be wisp away in Air Force 1 to save time? Yeah that's what I thought. Obama wants to appear like he is trying to save us money by using a bus to travel but really he is NOT! It's that kind of sneaky deception that Obama or MSNBC would rather not talk about.
Donovan declined to comment on the buses' design or capability. He said the decision to purchase the buses was made about a year ago but had been under discussion longer, and that the money was taken from a fund for transportation and armored vehicles.
If the Buses' were ordered about a year ago then that means they were ordered under Obama's watch. Looks like Obama was thinking ahead to finance his endless summer of campaigning. I often wonder what the REAL cost of these buses' were? Do you really think a bus of this size designed to protect the President of the United States only cost $1,000,000.00? I doubt it. There are some cost that are likely being with-held under the guise of "national security". I am also curious how many times in the past a President has actually needed a bus to perform his job outside of campaigning? You know Sarah Palin paid for her bus to campaign.
Unlike renting buses' there is going to be more money spent to maintain the fleet. It's clear Obama is out of touch when it comes to the Americans he is trying to appeal to. As I sit here and eat my dinner that I had to work for it somewhat makes me a little sick.

{{{Cadillac DTS}}} Presidential Limousine reveals the design direction during Inaugural Parade
WASHINGTON This week, a jet-black, state-of-the-art Cadillac DTS limousine will roll through the nations capital during the Presidential Inaugural Parade revealing publicly for first time the new design direction for the 2006 Cadillac DTS production model.
Similar to the new DTS, the limousine makes a bold styling statement by incorporating Cadillacs contemporary design cues to the front and rear portions of the vehicle. Redesigned front and rear fascias integrate Cadillacs signature egg-crate grille with center-mounted wreath and crest badge, jewel-like vertically oriented high-intensity xenon headlamps and state-of-the-art LED tail lamps.
George W. Bush, the President of the United States of America will be the first to travel in the new Cadillac DTS limousine during the parade route along Pennsylvania Avenue on Thursday, January 20. The sight of the president waving from a Cadillac has become a tradition in Americana.
General Motors and Cadillac are proud to write this latest chapter in American automotive history with the introduction of the DTS presidential limousine," said General Motors Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner. "We are pleased that our historic relationship with the U.S. government and chief executive office has continued through the years.
With a new design and unique construction under the skin, the new Cadillac DTS limousine is handcrafted and dressed in a jet-black clearcoat finish. The vehicle is a considerably longer, wider and taller version of the production model that becomes available later this year. To maintain national security, the limousines are equipped with state-of-the-art protection and communication systems.
The vehicle interior boasts six-passenger seating with comfort and visibility for all occupants. A rear seat executive package features a concealed, foldaway desktop that can be deployed when conducting affairs of state. The rear seats have an adjustable reclining feature along with the adaptive seat system, which senses the position of the occupant in the seat and automatically adjusts the cushion for added comfort. Moreover, rear seat passengers can enjoy their own premium sound system complete with a 10-disc CD changer. Wood accents, rich blue leather and cloth complete the executive interior.
An embroidered presidential seal is positioned in the center of the rear seat back panel, as well as on each rear door trim panel. Presidential seals are also affixed to the exterior rear doors. The U.S. flag is placed on the right front fender, and the presidential standard is located on the left front fender when the president travels in the vehicle. Flush-mounted High Intensity Discharged (HID) spotlights illuminate the flags at night.
The 2006 Cadillac DTS production model is set to make its first public appearance at the Chicago AutoShow in early February.
The DTS marks the ninth newvehicle introduced into the Cadillac portfolio since 2001 and aligns with Cadillacs alpha naming strategy established by the CTS, SRX, XLR and STS vehicles. Evolving from three models DeVille, DHS and DTS with exterior and interior differentiation, the DTS will incorporate a single-model strategy with one exterior and various option packages.
From its Cadillac-signature styling to its power and refined ride characteristics, the DTS is a product of unwavering attention to detail which builds on the strengths and appeal of the Cadillac brand.
The presidential state car is the official state car used by the President of the United States. A variety of vehicles have both officially and unofficially been acknowledged as the presidential vehicle. Since the late 1930s, the U.S. government has specially commissioned vehicles for presidential use, often specifying advanced communications equipment, special convenience features, armor plating, and defense countermeasures. American cars are traditionally chosen for the role. The most recent vehicle to be customized as the presidential car is a GMC Topkick-based, Cadillac-badged limousine often referred to as Cadillac One and occasionally as Limo One (a reference to the U.S. presidential aircraft, Air Force One) or as The Beast.
The limousine makes its debut in the 2009 inaugural parade, guarded by Secret Service agents. Behind it are the two backup limousines previously used by President George W. Bush.
On both domestic and foreign trips, the limousine is transported in a C-17 Globemaster III.
The current presidential limousine entered service on January 20, 2009. According to the manufacturer, General Motors, the 2009 Cadillac presidential limousine is the first not to carry a specific model name.[1][2] The vehicle's outward appearance carries many current Cadillac styling themes, but doesn't exactly resemble any particular production vehicle. The body itself seems to be a modification of the immediately previous DTS-badged Presidential limousines, but the vehicle's chassis and driveline are assumed to be sourced from the GMC Topkick commercial truck.[2][3] Many body components are sourced from a variety of Cadillac vehicles; for example, the car apparently uses Cadillac Escalade headlights, side mirrors and door handles. The tail of the car seems to use the taillights and back up lights from the Cadillac STS sedan.[4] Although a price tag has not been announced, there is a rumor that each limousine costs US$300,000.[5][dubiousdiscuss]
Most details of the car are classified for security reasons; however, it is known[by whom?] that it is fitted with military grade armor at least five inches thick, and the wheels are fitted with run flat tires that makes the vehicle drivable for a certain period of time if punctured. The doors weigh as much as a Boeing 757 airplane cabin door. The engine is equipped with a Eaton Twin Vortices Series 1900 supercharger system.[citation needed] The vehicle's fuel tank is leak-proof and explosion resistant.[citation needed] Due to the thickness of the glass, much natural light is excluded, so a fluorescent halo lighting system in the headliner is essential. The outside crowd is only heard through internal speakers. The car is perfectly sealed against biochemical attacks and has its own oxygen supply and firefighting system built into the trunk.[6] Unseen at a glance are two holes hidden inside the lower part of the vehicle's front bumper, which are able to emit tear gas.[citation needed] The vehicle can also fire a salvo of multi-spectrum infrared smoke grenades as a countermeasure to a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) or anti-tank missile (ATGM) attack and to act as a visual obscurant to operator guided missiles.[citation needed] This is fired remotely by the USSS countermeasures Suburban which trails the limo and contains the sensors to detect the launch of such an attack.[citation needed] The limo is equipped with a driver's enhanced video system which allows the driver to operate in an infrared smoke environment. This driver's enhanced video system also contains bumper mounted night vision cameras for operation in pitch black conditions.[citation needed] Kept in the trunk is a blood bank of the President's blood type.[7][8] Interestingly, there is no key hole in the doors. A special trick, known only to Secret Service agents, is required to gain access to the passenger area. Furthermore, the entire limo can be locked like a bank vault.
The car can seat seven people, including the president. The front seats two, and includes a console-mounted communications center. A Remington Arms shotgun is kept beneath the driver's seat, stashed between his seat and door.[citation needed] A glass partition divides the front from back. Three rear-facing seats are in the back, with cushions that are able to fold over the partition. The two rear seats are reserved for the president and another passenger; these seats have the ability to recline individually. A folding desk is between the two rear seats. Storage compartments in the interior panels of the car contain communications equipment which is called the Limousine Control Package and is operated by the White House Communication Agency. This is the voice and data device that links the vehicle to the WHCA Roadrunner at the rear of the motorcade allowing command and control (or "C2") functions to be performed from the limo.[6] The Secret Service refers to the heavily armored vehicle as The Beast.[9] The car is driven by a highly trained Secret Service agent who is capable of performing a J-turn. This maneuver, taught at the USSS training facility outside Washington D.C., can turn the limo 180 degrees in matter of seconds to escape any trouble. The President's lead protective agent usually sits in the front passenger seat.
On domestic trips, Cadillac One displays the American and Presidential Standard flags, which are illuminated by directional flood lights mounted on the hood. When the President performs a state visit to a foreign country, the Presidential Standard is replaced by the foreign country's flag.[6] The limousine is airlifted for domestic and international use primarily by a U.S. Air ForceC-17 Globemaster III.[10]
The vehicle fuel consumption is about 8 miles per gallon which on metric system corresponds to around 30 litres/100 km.[11][12][13][14]
The United States government also operates similarly designed limousines for VIP guests, visiting heads of government, and heads of state.
Since 2001, when the president travels out of town, his motorcade has consisted of about 45 vehicles. While the limousine itself is maintained by the Secret Service, motorcade support vehicles are maintained by the White House Military Office.[15] At times, the president travels in the presidential Suburban, one of two Chevrolet Suburbans with the presidential seal on the sides.[10]
President William McKinley was the first president to ride in an automobile, but it was not until the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt that the first government-owned automobile was used, a white Stanley Steamer.[15] Roosevelt's successor, William Howard Taft purchased a White Motor Company Model M Steamer as his official car, and converted the White House stable into an automobile garage.[16][17] Taft also ordered a pair of Pierce-Arrows to be used for official state occasions. President Woodrow Wilson also favored cars over horse-drawn carriages,[15] and was one of the first chief executives to ride in a Cadillac during a World War I victory parade through the streets of Boston. In 1921, President Warren Harding was the first to ride to his inauguration in a car, a Packard Twin-Six,[15] and a lavish 1928 Cadillac town car was used by his successor, President Calvin Coolidge.
In 1938, two Cadillac convertibles dubbed Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth were delivered to the U.S. government. Named after the great ocean liners of the time, the 21.5 ft (6.6 m), 7,660 lb (3,470 kg) vehicles were equipped with a full ammunition arsenal, two way radios, and heavy duty generators. Durable and reliable, the two "Queens" served Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, and Dwight D. Eisenhower.
The first car specially built for presidential use was the 1939 LincolnV12convertible called the Sunshine Special, used by Franklin D. Roosevelt. The limousine was originally equipped with a siren, running lights, a 2-way radio, extra-wide running boards, and grab handles for Secret Service agents. After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the Secret Service became more concerned about potential assassination attempts against President Roosevelt. The following day, 8 December 1941, a heavily armored 1928 Cadillac 341A Town Sedan, originally belonging to gangster Al Capone, was pressed into use to transport the president to the Capitol to deliver his "Infamy" speech. The car had been confiscated by the Treasury Department following Capone's arrest and stored in an impound lot until its ironic final duty. Roosevelt used the Capone car until his "Sunshine Special" was modified to be bulletproof, with armor plating for the doors, bullet-proof tires, inch-thick windows and storage compartments for sub-machine guns.[18][19] The Ford Motor Company leased the car to the office of the president for $500 a year.[18] It remained in use until 1948, and is now on permanent display at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.
The Secret Service would later use custom-bodied 1956, 1976, and 1983 Series 75 Cadillac convertibles as follow-up command cars into the 1990s.
Two custom built 1950 Lincoln Cosmopolitan limousines were delivered to the White House in 1950 for use by President Truman. At the suggestion of President Eisenhower one was fitted with a glass roof and was dubbed the "Bubble Top". It was later used by John F. Kennedy[15] and once by Lyndon B. Johnson. It was retired in 1965 and is now on permanent display at the Henry Ford Museum. President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who was known for being fond of automobiles, rode in one of the first Cadillac Eldorados during the 1953 Inauguration Day parade.
President John F. Kennedy's limousine, in which he was assassinated, was a 1961 Lincoln Continental convertible, which also came with a Plexiglas bubble top in the event of inclement weather. The vehicle was custom built by Hess and Eisenhart of Cincinnati, and was known as the SS-100-X. The car was retrofitted with armor plating, a permanent sedan roof, a new interior, an improved air-conditioning system, electronic communications equipment, bulletproof glass, a new paint treatment and cosmetic alterations to remove damage incurred during the assassination, among other changes. The car is on display at the Henry Ford Museum.[20]
The Johnson administration used three 1965 Lincoln Continental Executive limousines; two were for presidential use and one for Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara. A 1968 stretch Lincoln was used in Washington, D.C. and Austin, Texas, Johnson's hometown. This vehicle is on display at the Lyndon Baines Johnson Library and Museum. The X-100 was modified again in 1967. Later, under President Richard Nixon, the large one-piece glass roof was replaced with a smaller glass area and a hinged roof panel. It remained in service until 1977 and resides in its final configuration at the Henry Ford Museum.
President Richard Nixon and First Lady Pat Nixon in 1972 seen riding in the state car made by Lincoln and acquired in 1969.
The White House ordered a Lincoln Continental limousine through Lehman-Peterson of Chicago, which was delivered in 1969 model year trim. This vehicle also had an added sunroof so that Nixon could stand upright when appearing before parade-goers if desired. It was equipped with several features, such as retractable hand grips and running boards, that were later copied by Hess and Eisenhart. This car is now located at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum in Yorba Linda, California. President Nixon's administration ordered two 1972 (but delivered with 1973 front and rear bumpers) ChryslerImperial LeBaron based armored limos (the last to date Chrysler based White House limos) constructed by Hess and Eisenhart and also ordered a 1972 Lincoln Continental model that was stretched to 22 ft (7 m), outfitted with armor plating, bullet resistant glass and powered by a 460 cubic inch (7.5 liter) V8 engine mated to a C-6 3-speed automatic transmission. This model was also altered a number of times during its history, including replacement of the front fenders and grille, in addition to modification of the rear taillight and reflector assembly to match the updated 1977-1979 models. The Lincoln was used by Presidents Ford, Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan; it was the limousine that Reagan was about to enter at the time of his assassination attempt in 1981.[citation needed] Ironically, the vehicle's armor proved a crucial factor in causing Reagan's gunshot wound - the president was not directly hit, he was struck by a bullet that ricocheted off the armored side of the vehicle. The car is on display at the Henry Ford Museum.
In 1983, the Reagan administration received a Cadillac Fleetwood limousine. This limousine was first used in February 1983 for President Ronald Reagan's birthday parade in Dixon, Illinois. This was the last GM car equipped with the Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 3-speed automatic transmission. It resides at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, California. President George H. W. Bush used a 1989 modified Lincoln Town Car. It had a 460 Cu. in. EFI V-8 out of a Ford F-250 Heavy Duty pickup truck and an E4OD 4 speed automatic transmission. One model is on display at the George Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas.
A Presidential Series Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham was delivered to the Clinton Administration in 1993. No sunroof or running boards were installed in order to minimize external threats. It included a 454 cubic inch (7.4 liter) Chevrolet V-8 Engine mated to a 4L80E 4 speed automatic transmission, the same used in the 1993 Chevrolet C2500 heavy duty pickup truck. The car is located at the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. As of 2009[update], the 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood at the Clinton Presidential Center is the final presidential vehicle to be placed on public display. Plans call for the Secret Service to use future vehicles for security testing that may result in their destruction.[21]
A 2001 Cadillac DeVille limousine was delivered to the Bush administration and was replaced in 2005 by a Cadillac DTS (DeVille Touring Sedan). The 2005 Cadillac DTS limousine is a hand-crafted, custom built, armored version of the stretch Cadillac DTS built on a GMfour-wheel drive platform.[22] The vehicle was custom built by Centigon (formerly O'Gara, Hess & Eisenhardt).[22][23] It was first used on January 20, 2005 during the second inauguration parade of George W. Bush. It now serves as an alternative presidential limousine that is frequently used.

Rex, you seem to think President Obama is obligated to set some kind of example by doing things on the cheap. You are wrong my friend, he is the current President of the United States of America. He holds the absolute highest office on the planet, and he was freely elected to that position. He is the only person with the power to command the worlds largest military, naval fleet, air force, and Nuclear arsenal. He alone can nominate federal judges. He alone can veto legislation from Congress. He alone can conduct foreign policy in America's name. He alone can issue a pardon. The logistics behind supporting a person in the worlds biggest role, are inherently expensive - as they should be.
Bush's bus was made in Canada too by the same manufacturer in Quebec.
The US Secret Service gets an allotmentment of money from congress each year to provide for Presidential transportation. All they did was spend some of that money. If you have a problem with it, you should call your congressman.

He holds the absolute highest office on the planet, and he was freely elected to that position.
Freely elected by people like YOU; and we all know how bright you are.
Bush's bus was made in Canada too by the same manufacturer in Quebec.
The one they "Rented" from an American company?

Gee I wonder what party was in control of congress when this allotment of money was doled out? Could it be the spend-0-holic Democrarts? Bet it was!

Actually I found the information about ALL the past and present Presidents limo's very interesting. I am sure if you look beyond your nose you will see it was the Democrat congress that hooked the SS up with their budget.
Also, if you read this thread again you should notice that my concern was with the new 2.2 million dollar buses and how to the normal idiot it would appear these buses were an effort to save money, when in reality AF1 and all the pork that goes along with it are still in motion, just that now we stacked another 2.2 million + on top of all that.
Perhaps you missed what bothered me most, and that was the fact that Obama seems to be campaigning using these new toys. Now it seem's he's off to vacation after a hard month of work... Gee maybe I should go on vacation tomorrow, I been working hard. Hell let's all go on vacation every month!
More than anything PowerStroker the Obama administration has been more of a distraction to Americans than anything. While we all sit in-front of the Computer or TV to see how were going to get fucked next we are distracted from our own lives. This is not what America needs! Americans don't want a show-boat President! They want a man/woman that can get the job done right, without having to constantly look over him/her and wonder if they are doing right by Americans.
Sorry to say PowerStroker, this man is not Obama.

If you're looking for places to save money, Presidential travel isn't a place to start. Whether the President is on official government business, or simply campaigning for Democrats, the Constitution mandates that he be protected by the Department of the Treasury (though I think the Defense department absorbed the Secret Service recently). Anyway, the only way the Secret Service can fulfil their constitutional mandate of protecting the President, is to provide him with armored vehicles and armed bodyguards at all times. Even if it's for nothing more than a politicking trip to bash Republicans. It isn't Obama's fault this is the case, it's the Constitution of the United States of America. If you want the Constitution ammended to remove Presidential protection for non government activities, simply because you have a hard-on for whining about how every cent of your taxes are spent. Again, you would need to take it up with your Congressman.
The Obama Administration has wasted so much money and time that anything they do at this point will be too little, too late in the eyes of many.
Best if the Democrats AND the Republicans just focus on what needs to be done in order to turn things around, no podium needed. People at this point are just getting depressed reading the news anymore.
Protecting the President could be a very easy task if he just stayed in a few places. In today's age of high tech, telephones, computers, Internet, video conference and satellites there really isn't any need to be running around in this economic climate.
I think a great deal of money was spend sending Mrs. O to South Africa to frolic with the likes of Nelson Mandela, and lest we forget her trip to Spain with her girlfriends. Tack on the India trip to see the Festival of Lights, Hawaii vacations, Jakarta vacations, Chicago BBQ's and you have yourself a gross mis-use of tax payer dollars that dwarfs these buses, yet it still goes on and on. You would think Obama would keep all this on the low-key but no, that's not what he wants. He want's to look like a big spender on the publics money.
The 4 years a President get's per election should focus exclusively on his work, many people go years without extravagent vacations to shore up their finances. I could see Obama going home to visit each week. If that were the case the SS could fortify and secure his domicile and it could be efficiant and justifiable, but this guy and his family are just globe trotting on the backs of Americans who are struggling to get by themselves.
I am sure that since the only person you have to look out for is yourself that none of this makes any sense to you and thus you consider all this waste by Obama a "Perk" of his job. Well if he was doing right by Americans and the majority of the people were happy and living well I might go along with that too.... As it stands that is not the case and America is only sinking deeper and deeper.
I think that much like Obama and the Democrats you too are out of touch with Americans.

I'd say at least 400 Billion per day, and I base that on absolutely nothing - which, by the way, more than meets the standard of journalism on this site.

Well at least there seems to be a mutual respect between the Saudis and Bush, unlike the time it cost Americans 400 billion per day (using your method to compute travel cost above) , for Obama to bow down to them.
Hell... At least they gave Bush a sword! Looking at the two video's side by side and it's clear... Bush was a leader, Obama is a brown nosing bower.
Then again I imagine the Saudis just couldn't hang with such a great dancer like Obama,

Does the "stroker" in PowerStroker refer to an engine's stroke, or stroking himself? Because his posts sure seem to come off that way -- either stroking himself or stroking his own ego ... or both.
Mostly stroking myself, though it's also in reference to Ford's Powerstroke Diesel. Welcome aboard gerryvz! This is a great place to shoot the shit, though if you're looking for any technical knowledge, I'd take everything here with a grain of salt.
This is a great place to shoot the shit, though if you're looking for any technical knowledge, I'd take everything here with a grain of salt.
Yeah that's right, so technical knowledge you see under the heading "PowerStroker" you should take with a grain of salt.. Aw hell, ANYTHING under the heading of "PowerStroker" should be taken with a grain of salt.
You know how them "Dealership" mechanics are Gerry... Spoon fed babies that couldn't fix a sandwich let alone a vehicle over 4 years old without TSB instructions.
To PowerStroker an Oil change is considered a class "A" job. Every year Fords send's PowerStroker to school to learn how an internal combustion engine works, they figure at some point he might know what he's doing, at the very least Fords lets them in on the stuff they designed to fail just after the warranty ends.
Ask PowerStroker why Ford trucks were using International/Navistar engines in their diesel trucks for so long and your likely to get an interesting answer. Then ask him how come none of the dealer techs could fix them and Fords had to buy so many back, I bet you get the same answer.
I rest my case.

Dealership mechanics are pretty much only good at plugging in a computer and reading what the screen tells them to do. they are not real mechanics anymore -- they don't know how to diagnose problems by listening, experience, look, feel, smell like the old-school mechanics can do.
I can train a chimpanzee to be a modern dealership mechanic.
Dealership mechanics are expert parts/module changers. The Mercedes dealers here don't know how to tear down an engine, they just replace individual parts or if the engine fails, they just slap a new engine in the vehicle. Tearing down an engine to find out what the problem is, or to actually FIX it is considered too time and labor intensive for the modern dealership. Besides, if you're a mechanic who is trained to connect a computer to an underhood or under-dash plug, how in the heck would you know how to remove a cylinder head or diagnose a weird sound coming from the engine? Computers aren't programmed to diagnose sounds or physical problems -- they just rely on "sensors" and "diagnostic trees" to fix problems.
Pfffft.
I'd love to see PowerSmoker diagnose and try to fix a 30-year-old F150 truck.
Don't get PowerStroker rilled up Gerry or he will get his Mafia of diesel techs back in here and Ill have to spend days handing them their own ass.
In PowerStrokers defence, he's a heavy duty diesel mechanic which means that along with knowing how to plug in a scan tool he also has to be able to remove the cab of any given modern Ford HD truck in order to replace anything major. Pretty ignorant design if you ask me, but PowerStroker does not mind because it ensures more billable hours.
A regular dealership tech is about one step up from an oil change tech, a diesel tech is one step above that. But that's only taking into account "dealership" techs, who get red meat tossed to them. Were they to be in an independent enviroment they would be the red meat tossed to the lion. He likes to assume that Dealerships are the best, but if that were true then why are their so many independent shops? Why do people stop taking their vehicles to the dealership after the warranty runs out?
Take any vehicle 10 years old to the dealership and they will give you an estimate 20X higher than anywhere else just to broom the job. The end result will be a bunch of new parts and the same complaint once finished. In the end it will take an independent to solve the problem.
I should also mention that PowerStroker is a "Union" mechanic but according to him he has "Job Power" and thus,
Quote from PowerStroker,
#61 - "I have what's called "job power," My boss could be sitting in his office eating breakfast. I could barge right in, hop up on is desk, whip out my junk, pee in his Cheerios, and have him beg me to come back and do it again tomorrow."
I can train a chimpanzee to be a modern dealership mechanic.
Really! do you know any that are looking for a job, brcause I could use an assistant.
I take a lot of these apart:
Pfffft.
I'd love to see PowerSmoker diagnose and try to fix a 30-year-old F150 truck.
I just sold this one a couple months ago... It barely ran when I first got it:
Yeah but he only takes them apart to verify the engine is scrap. The engine he has shown above I can guarantee you was junked in favor of a complete brand new or factory rebuilt engine (and not rebuilt with his two hands).
I have said time and time again that dealership techs are glorified parts changers, and for the most part it is true. Fords themselves are helping that along too by making most parts non-rebuildable aka one use only. This helps their bottom line when the vehicles become paid off.
Trust me Gerry, if PowerStroker was as good as he THINKS he is, he wouldn't have to run around here and leave little piles of shit everywhere. Just look at the videos in his link, all fiction and all of them lacking any proof. He's still sore about Fords giving me a PSD truck, which in the end I got fucked on anyway.

OK I'll leave PowerSmoker alone. It's apparent he's actually a pretty decent and knowledgeable guy compared to the REAL idiots who frequent the Benzworld 126 forum.
What I don't understand is why PowerSmoker comes here anyway?
By the way SELLC, do you know if the BW 126 forum idiots actually come here and view your forum? Have you ever had the likes of Cascade or Chaddahar or Teutone post here?
I have a feeling that gerryvz is just another Rex username, as if he didn't already have enough.
Only you could fuck yourself on a free truck.
PowerStroker, I don't need another user account to call you and idiot! LOL
You should also know that I was never GIVEN a free truck, I had to work for that fucker! It was the out of control bankers who fucked me on the loan that brought about my getting screwed on the deal. An out of control banking industry that your boy Obama SWORE he would protect us from. I knew that guy was FOS! Just like everything else I will deal with it myself so I know the job gets done right. I may have lost a battle but I sure as hell have not lost the war!
Once I nail these crooked banker fucks I will enjoy making you jealous as fuck with that truck once again. I keep my promises.

PowerStroker likes to grasp at straws.
OK I'll leave PowerSmoker alone. It's apparent he's actually a pretty decent and knowledgeable guy compared to the REAL idiots who frequent the Benzworld 126 forum.
You don't have to leave PowerStroker alone, he's a complete idiot half the time and needs to be smacked up side the head. He "thinks" he is knowledgeable but really lacks any real skill. He is however book smart, but then again so are people like Obama; you see where that's getting us.
What I don't understand is why PowerSmoker comes here anyway?
He came here with about 6 of his buddies jealous as hell because we opened up a Ford truck section. Naturally him and his "Mafia" got their asses handed to them because they all were made to look like total idiots on a vertical scope forum known as PowerStroke.org. In case you didn't read up on vertical scope they are the same company that owns BenzWorld.org (Advertisement firm). Just like BenzWorld.org their forums on PowerStroke.org were filled with idiots that didn't know their ass from a hole in the ground, slowly but surley I made every one of them look like idiots as they suggested ignorant solutions to problems, once I figured out they were all of BenzWorld.org stock I quit seeking their assistance and started to fix the truck like a "real" mechanic (I didn't know at the time PS.ORG was a VS forum and thought much like BW.ORG newbies that they must know what they are talking about). As they claimed certian jobs couldn't be done without special tools I proved them wrong by making said tools out of $5-$10 tools modified to replicate their precious Rotunda tools. Then as I got about 1/4 way thru making them all look like idiots by posting photos and detailed information how to "really" fix and address problems pertaining to the 6.0 liter International PowerStroke engine they banned me, however these lowlifes wanted to keep my photos and parade them around as their own, only problem was that I hosted them thru my server and swapped them out for images with links to the TRUTH about PS.ORG and finally they were forced to delete the thread. About 10 of them (Powerstroke.org members) poured in here to defend their honor but slowly but surly they all learned the truth about Vertical Scope forums. Now the only one left of the 6 mafia members is PowerStroker who gets made to look like an idiot on a daily bassis.
By the way SELLC, do you know if the BW 126 forum idiots actually come here and view your forum? Have you ever had the likes of Cascade or Chaddahar or Teutone post here?
Do you really think losers like Cascade, Chaddahar and Teutone would come in here and register with their handles? HELL NO! They would be tared and feathered immediately! Instead they lurk the forum, sucking up information like a mosquito. Right now if you do a search on google for key words such as Mercedes + 560 + Tune Up, you will notice that our site is placed above that of BenzWorld.org. Pretty much anything I write and post up in the W126 section gets massive amounts of views, same with our Ford truck forum.
People with little know how don't dare post on this forum because they know that unlike Vertical Scope we wont tolerate anything but quality information. Speculation and random BS will result in an immediate flaming. It keeps the Cascades, Teutones and Snibbles away but they still lurk, running up my bill for hosting. Well that's no longer a problem, they have all been cut off.

Before Obama took office we were losing 700000 jobs per month
He came here with about 6 of his buddies jealous as hell because we opened up a Ford truck section.
No, we didn't even know about your site, or you for that matter until you came over to one of the popular Power Stroke Diesel forums looking for information and told a great story about how you fucked up bigtime on a customers vehicle. I don't even belong to that particular Power Stroke site, but Disgruntled made us aware of you on the one I do belong to - and it's not a Vertical Scope site either. After a while, we did a little research on you and realized you have your own site, so we joined up to give you a good ribbing. I still come here because I'm a bigger asshole than the rest of them.
Naturally him and his "Mafia" got their asses handed to them because they all were made to look like total idiots on a vertical scope forum known as PowerStroke.org.
I'm not a member of that site^^ though some of the mafia members are, it's not the "good" site. The one I belong to only accepts Ford and Navistar dealer technicians, engineers, and trainers.
We never fucked up any truck you moron! You guys came in here jealous as hell because you claimed 10K was too much to fix a ragged out F250 and the fact that the state awarded us the vehicle due to non-payment totally made you guys jealous as hell.
Don't start fucking lying now PowerStroker. And PowerStroke.org IS a vertical scope forum, and NO I didn't join any other Ford truck forum during that period. It is true I mopped the floor with some guys from PowerStrokeNation.com a year ago but I never posted any details pertaining to that truck there and basically was in the off topic area protesting a forum wide extortion/spamming of a particular thread. It's in the AFR.

It is if it comes in with a check engine light with a P2285 stored in memory.
and the fact that the state awarded us the vehicle due to non-payment totally made you guys jealous as hell.
I already have a truck, and it's paid for. I'm not jealous of yours.
Don't start fucking lying now PowerStroker. And PowerStroke.org IS a vertical scope forum,
I'm sure it is, what I was saying is the site I belong to isn't.
and NO I didn't join any other Ford truck forum during that period.
You didn't need to. Disgruntled posted a link to your ramblings on that site for us on the good site to check out. Thats why you were bombarded with Powerstroke techs you had never heard of.
It is true I mopped the floor with some guys from PowerStrokeNation.com
It is if it comes in with a check engine light with a P2285 stored in memory.
You know what... Go fuck yourself PowerStroker! I am so tired of you coming in here with the sole purpose to dis-inform and lie in an effort to belittle me. The fucking truck didn't come in here with JUST a P2285 code you mis-informed peice of shit trouble making bafoon!
Yes, the truck needed an Injection Control Pressure Sensor which cured the P2285 code but it DID NOT fix the broken exhaust turbo up tube, nor did it fix the bad injectors, it did not fix the wax or whatever it was that someone put in his gas tank, it did not fix his lack of changing the oil for over 12,000 miles that wiped out the injectors or HP pump, it did not fix the host of other problems like the plugged up catalytic converter from driving the truck like that for 6 months. It also did not cause any of the other "unrelated" problems that were authorized, performed and not paid for. All of the problems above probably DID result in us having to replace both the batteries and starter because he would sit there and crank it for 20 minutes to get it to start and it probably didn't help that he racked up 100's of dollars in service calls to jump the truck while he mulled over the repairs needed. The fact he left it for 3 months un-paid for didn't help either because we had to keep that massive beast locked up in the shop so it didn't get picked up without payment while we were waiting for the title, which resulted in a thousand dollars or so in storage fees.
You really need to get your act together and stop with the gawd damn lies. You need to go back to your little forms and set the record straight otherwise you are nothing but a big fat liar, no diffrent from the masses on PowerStroke.org.

Yeah sure! I bet that ICP would have fixed that massive exhaust leak at the turbo up tube along with fixed up that 12,000 mile sludge that was once oil.
If you really paid attention you would have known that PowerStroke.org told us that the fuel pump was in the fuel tank, and I took them at their word. Once my guy got the tank down and I seen the connector I knew they were full of shit! But it ended up being a blessing in disguise because otherwise we would have never found the contamination. After that we proceeded to make them all look like the rookies they are, with backing photos! It's just a damn shame we never got to finish that thread because it was AWSOME! But too many long time members were made to look like complete idiots for trying to fuck with someone they didn't realize was a mechanic, thus I was banned!
You should also know the ICP was replaced before any of the major work, if you would have read that thread on PowerStroke.org you would have known that.

There were certain things that HAD to be done to ensure that truck would live to see another day, and it had NOTHING to do with anything mechanical.
To date I have a 1 and a half foot thick case file and it's only growing. Both the truck an I will prevail and that's more than I can say for any illegal heath care legislation cooked up by the likes of Obama and his ilk.
To date I have paid more in interest for a product/service that I recived less than half of. That's not including what I paid in parts or lost in labor. I seem to have a curse laid upon me when it comes to black Ford pickup trucks that extends back to the mid 1990's. If I learned anything from them early days in the 1990's it's that I should never give up and I haven't. You can take that to the bank!

So I was tubing down the Cannon River last Sunday with some friends and I got pretty well lit up. There were some folks at a campground on the bank of the river launching water baloons at us. I yelled some advise to them, and I think the same advise applies to you and your parts cannon. "I HOPE YOU AIM BETTER WHEN YOU PEE."
A few weeks back when the family and I were at Lake Michigan there were some dudes launching water balloons over the Benton Harbor channel, guess people in Michigan are pretty accurate because I watched them nail a few people on the peer. Out of the blue they would get nailed and it was always the hot chicks too. I am thinking about getting one of them things for next year.
I don't get your refferece to the whole "having better aim", but whatever.

Don't forget to replace the ICP connector too. the 03-04 connectors had pin fit problems causing poor contact. Also those sensors frequently leak in to the connectors and fuck em up.
Connector part number 5C3Z-12224-A runs about $90 and comes with heat shrink and tube crimps. Also you can use the same connector for the Exhaust pressure sensors.

Only the early build engines (prior to 9/29/2003) had the ICP behind the turbo next to the IPR. This means all 2003 model year and some 2004 model year trucks. For the 2004.25 trucks, the engine saw many updates. The injectors were revised. The ICP was moved to the front of the right valve cover and screwd directly in to what was now a "wavy" high pressure oil rail. The sensor itself was also re-designed and improved. The EGR cooler was lengthened, the turbo and pedestal were changed to allow for a more accessable rear mounting flange and an extra blade was added to the turbine wheel to reudce flutter. Also the 2004.25 was the only era that had a functioning electronic throttle plate to improve egr flow. The 2003 only had a fake housing that didn't do anything, and the 2005 and later had it eliminated all together in favor of a scoop inside the right turbo up pipe to direct egr flow more efficiently. The 2004.25 also had a different engine wiring harness, and it had problems with pin fit on the ICP sensor. There was a recall done to replace those connectors with the 2005 style which resolved this issue. Typically the 2003 engines need the new connector too because the early build ICP sensors are notorious for leaking in to their connectors. The 2005 engine also had a re-designed high pressure pump and improvements to the turbo VGT housing to add clearance so corrosion stacking would be less likely to cause binding. 2005 also saw a slightly different egr valve which looks the same as the 2003-2004 less a sticker, but has different operating specs and is not interchangable. Around 2006, the cylinder heads were changed in favor of a "commonized" cylinder head which would use the same or similar base casting as the 6.4. The Cylinder head to block dowls were increased in size from 18mm to 20mm and the injector hold-downs used different hardware and clamps. Service replacement turbochargers will have a non corrosion coating applied to the vgt housing, and some also have a ridge machined in the housing to allow more room for unison ring movement.
Throughout the evolution of the engine itself, so too did the software that ran it evolve. The original program had "pilot injection" which fired the injectors mulitple times to control the shape of the flame front in the cylinders and reduce noise. When they had that calibration, they ran very quietly, but soon would exhibit drivability issues as the mechanical spool valves in the injectors couldn't react quickly enough and it resulted in misfires. They came up with an update relatively quickly to shut off pilot injection. There were actually many software changes to do many different things, but getting rid of pilot injection was one of the big ones. So was shutting off the Exhaust pressure reading in 2003 model only vehicles and using an infered reading instead. One of the best improvements for cold starting, was to have the Ficm do an inductive pre-head of the injectors while the glow plugs are warming up. This was accomplished by simply applying current to both the open and close injector solenoids simultaneously to warm them up and improve injector spool valve movement during cold ambient temps when the oil was thick. The original verison of that program sent too much current to the injectors and was resulting in burned up FICM's, so the strategy has been changed to accomplish the same thing - with less amperage.
In terms of aftermarket modifications, I generally frown on them all with one exception. I always give my customers the option of having me install ARP head studs when doing a head gasket replacement job.
