No matter how good or true the articles on Fox News are, the problem is that liberals like PowerStroker will never bother even reading them because of where they came from.
It's like sending a liberal the weekly editorial written by Karl Rove that's published in the Wall Street Journal. They see the byline and don't even bother to read the headline, let alone what the article actually SAYS.
I find it's much better to use articles published by news sources like the New York Times, MSNBC, CNN, Washington Post, Politico and other sources like that against the libs. That way they will actually take the time to read them.
You saw the recent segment on MSNBC by Chris Matthews didn't you? It was really negative on Obama, from the objective, non-partisan guy who had the "thrill run up his leg" when he heard Obama speechifying back in 2008 about Hope & Change. Remember him? Well he's negative now on his old boy Obummer! But you can actually get a liberal to listen to/read it because it's Chris Matthews, and MSNBC.
You could put the same identical text posted at Fox News, word for word except said by Sean Hannity, and I'd bet you a brand-new Ford F350 Super Duty V10 that PowerStroker wouldn't even click on it.
You see, libs are closed minded. Conservatives aren't afraid to go to multiple sources to get their information. Libs only go to blatantly lib sources (which they consider to be middle of the road and objective, LOL) and would never darken the doorway of the likes of rove.com or Fox News. Remember that poor lib guy on Fox News Alan Colmes or whatever his name was? The libs thought that guy was a MAJOR traitor for actually being on Fox News, no matter that everything he said was lock-step with their viewpoints. So for libs it's all about the VENUE.
So, DON'T use Fox News stuff if you want PowerStroker to actually pay more than 0.5 second attention to it.......
Gerry, I had no idea that your desire to indoctrinate me was such a life goal of yours. I actually voted for George W in 2000, and I was raised to be a Republican like my parents. It wasn't until 2003 that I actually started paying attention to politics and thinking for myself on these matters.
I was flipping channels one day and stopped on CSPAN during the run up to the 04 election. On CSPAN that day was a piece of archive footage from a much younger John Kerry testifying before congress. I thought to myself, oh great, what's this loser talking about, and I listened to him as he testified about atrocitieses he witnessed American soldiers doing to captured Vietnamesese combatants and civilians. It was at that moment that I realized, as much as I disliked the subject matter to which he was testifying, he was only speaking truth to power - which I greatly respect. That's when I decided to use the power of the Internets to visit the RNC and DNC websites to figure out what the parties are actually all about. Upon reading both party platforms for the first time with an open mind, I had a light bulb turn on in my head as I realized that I agree with just about everything the Democratic party stands for.
I'll be happy to look at actual news from a non partisan source. CNN for example puts a lot of effort in to not being identified as either conservative or liberal, and I'm more than happy to look at something from their news desk. I should warn you though, your efforts to convert me will certainly fail, just as any effort I put forward to convert you to Liberalism would fail.
One's politics are not the product of intelligence, but rather the result of one's life experiences. I was born to working class people who struggled to get by, and I developed a set of values as a result of that experience. I imagine your life experiences have played a large part in you being a Republican. This is why we can't convert eachother. I can't possibly make you understand what it's like to bust your ass and not be rewarded for it, anymore than you could make me understand what it's like to be born with a trust fund.
By the way, the reason I don't give a flying fuck what Fox "news" thinks, is becaues they aren't providing news at all, they are providing opinion. The author of the aforementioned article is Michael Goodwin. Here is a list of the last several articles he wrote for Fox "NEWS" :
Warped by a sense of entitlement and self-aggrandizement, President Obama refuses to take responsibility for finding practical solutions to problems. He prefers the glory of transformation rather than the roll-the-sleeves-up work of reform.
On one level, income inequality is real, and growing. Yet as a bedrock and urgent political issue, its pure hokum. The ultimate aim is to hijack emotions and grow the government pie so favored voters get a bigger slice.
Inexplicably, New York's Mayor Michael Bloomberg has forgotten the lessons of broken windows and rolled out the welcome wagon for the anarchists, derelicts, stoners and aging adolescents who have branded themselves 'Occupy Wall Street.'
I grew up in the shadow of Penn State, just 30 miles from the shining oasis. In my youth, legendary football coach Joe Paterno and Penn State football were synonymous with the working-class values of the hardscrabble mountains of central Pennsylvania.
With the growing sense that Iran is close to a breakout moment with its nuclear-weapons program, and that Israel may be planning a military strike to stop it, Sarkozy and Obama showed themselves to be small-minded and petty instead of focused on the worlds most important security issue.
Former MF Global chief and New Jersey Jon Corzine is the perfect poster boy for whats ailing America. He went from Wall Street to politics, then back to Wall Street, and left a trail of wreckage everywhere.
With Herman Cain facing a crisis over sexual-harassment allegations and the rest of the GOP field stuck in reverse, Romney has a golden opportunity to build a commanding lead in the presidential primaries. Instead, he has reverted to his old, tired self.
Its no accident or coincidence that Joe Biden is acting like such a jerk lately, and Hillary Rodham Clinton is playing the good soldier. They are trying out for new jobs -- each others.
President Obama explained his plan last week to withdraw all troops from Iraq. But the president is ignoring the most important question that comes next -- what about Iran?
Despite President Obama's claim that the Occupy Wall Street protesters reflect a broad-based frustration about how our financial system works, the people sleeping in Zuccotti Park are not there to help him create middle-class jobs or save the ones that exist.
The Occupy Wall Street protesters are playing a zero-sum game and its a big loss for New York. The losers start with downtown workers, businesses and residents, who are forced to further endure a fetid, noisy camp in what used to be a park.
The reports are not good. The gist is this: President Obama has become a lone wolf, a stranger to his own government. He talks mostly, and sometimes only, to friend and adviser Valerie Jarrett, and to David Axelrod, his political strategist. Everybody else, including members of his Cabinet, have little face time with him.
The real reason for the Chris Christie clamor goes far beyond the limitations of the current candidates. The New Jersey governor has demonstrated a knack for governing in ways that match this crucial moment in American history.
As President Obama's poll numbers slide, some Democrats believe there is a small but growing chance the president will pull a Lyndon Johnson and decide not to seek re-election. Then theres the perennial Hillary guessing game.
On too many days since the attacks of September 11, 2001, America has been splintered and angry. This past Saturday and Sunday, we were one country again -- united in grief but also in courage and pride.
Even at this late date in his term, President Obama has no new ideas on how to create jobs, nor is he willing to embrace the GOP push to cut spending, reform the tax code and trim the regulations strangling business growth.
The vice president of the United States Joe Biden, has outrageously compared American citizens to violent enemies of our nation for daring to exercise their democratic rights to dissent. Where is his sense of decency?
New York Rep. Peter King is right to be concerned when he saw a drip, drip of sensitive operational details emerging since the May 1 killing of Usama bin Laden. Magazines and newspapers had information that, as head of the House Committee on Homeland Security, he knew was supposed to remain secret.
Maybe, in the midst of the debt ceiling debate, President Obama hasn't noticed or doesn't care, but the country is giving up on him. The shellacking his party and policies took in the 2010 midterms would be repeated if there were an election today.
Harry Truman ran against a "Do-Nothing" Congress. As the debt ceiling debate rages it's clear that President Obama is running against a "Know-Nothing" nation.
If Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr. decides to dismiss the charges against Dominique Strauss-Kahn it only marks the start of his duty to clear the air about this sordid case.
By rejecting his commanders' advice in Afghanistan that he go slower on the drawdown until after next fall's "fighting season," President Obama reveals his cold determination to campaign in the fall on the withdrawal.
At The New York Times these days, it's all the biased news they see fit to print. As the supposed objective editor of paper's news pages, he is giving license to his staff to go after Sarah Palin and, by inference, go easy on President Obama.
Attorney General Eric Holder told an audience recently that security "won't come at all if we adhere to a rigid ideology." He should tell it to a mirror.
With President Obama suggesting New York Rep. Anthony Weiner resign, Democrats have fired their last and biggest rhetorical gun. Because Weiner still hasn't budged, they need to take action by booting him from committees and their caucus.
Over the weekend, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and other top Democrats, surely with White House backing, turned on New York Rep. Another Weiner to protect their damaged party, but they also did the right thing for America.
Uhhh ... where did I say anything about INDOCTRINATING you or changing your mind about anything? All I was talking about was getting you to actually READ something, not brainwash you. You're way beyond that, man.
Not sure where this "trust fund" idea comes from but I'm happy to introduce you to my mom and let you discuss it with her. She would probably know better (presumably as the trustee) about this topic than me, because I sure have never been aware of such. If I had one, I'd certainly love to know about it so I could retire early, LOL !!
As for me and my life experiences, well I'm just a normal church-going, family guy who thinks and talks pretty plainly. I don't have a fancy wardrobe, I only wear rebuildable shoes (the Birkenstocks I have on my feet I purchased in 1995; they've been rebuilt 7 or 8 times now) or US-made Allen Edmonds (also rebuildable), and I daily-drive a 23-year-old Mercedes coupe with 199,000 miles on it (my NEWEST car is my wife's 1995 Mercedes station wagon). My house isn't any larger than any of my neighbors and is just a regular house that blends into my 'hood. The computer I'm typing on is 3 years old and the chair I'm sitting on right now has a big ol' hole in the seat. My shorts are ripped and my furnace is turned off to conserve energy.
Not sure how you conjure up all these grand visions of me as a 1% CEO in-the-making. It is sort of flattering but I make sure your ego-stimulating thoughts enter and exit my mind as quickly as possible :D
SO THIS THREAD PROVES REALLY WHAT THESE TWO FUCKWADS REALLY ARE............. REX BEING THE UBER LIBTARD.
