I have a bench grinder motor mounted vertically and adapted to spin a car buffing pad. The carriage that holds the balls is a piece of particle board drilled out and given the same body and paint work as the can. The holes are lined with carpet, and the spinning action of the buffer also causes the carriage to rotate and randomize the spin such that the entire surface of the balls are polished.
Pretty cool invention PowerStroker ! Do you need to apply any polish at all to the balls 1st, or do you just let-her-rip for a minute or so ?

Would you believe that when I was an apprentice,- ( around 25 years ago...) I "acquired" an M116 V-8 engine block for that exact purpose SELLC, of turning it into a table, or a lighting fixture LOL ! I still have the block, but have yet to do something with it, so maybe sooner or later it'll get turned into that table...I always wondered whether they made caster-wheels that would screw straight onto the main bearing studs !
