Was on my way to Detroit a few weeks back and I got into it with a mid 2000's S600. Ate him up at high speed several times. It was wonderful I tell you! Three times I had to walk that S600 because even he couldn't believe it! Was so proud of my 560 that night!
Guess come one to find out these newer S600's are no match for the 560's with a few performance mods. The highway pulls were amazing! Now I'm going S550 hunting! LOL

That's awesome...I'm smiling from ear to ear reading this post LOL !!!
They can throw any numbers they like on a new models performance figures, but it just goes to show that the proof's out on the road with post's like these !
Long live the MB V-8's !!!
Cheers,
Rastus

It was quite amazing really. It's been quite some time since I put the hammer down like that.
It was the first S600 I've engaged on the highway. I'm used to putting a smack down on the local mustang and camaros at highway speed. They are usually pretty easy as most of them have big gears and are out of gear at the higher speeds. I defiantly had much more speed involved showing up the S600.. My blood was pumping I can tell you that!
Cool part was most everyone got out of our way... Guess they could see us coming up at a very quick clip.

Yes, that's where having a strong MB V-8 that can spin to 6,000 rpm in top gear with gearing that gives you 25-MPH, per 1,000 rpm comes into play. It might be as you've said in the past "luxury power", but the top-speeds you can get to & sit-on all day are remarkable.

NB I can't wait for your boys to get their own cars, so you can finally get your SEC up & running. (Or alternatively, a 560 in a R107 chassis must be almost insane to drive, & worth consideration) !
