Two years back I got a super deal on Black Friday for a Smith and Wesson SD40VE pistol.
Upon initial purchase I did not oil the pistol thinking it came pre-oiled, my suggestion to anyone buying one of these pistols is to dismantle and oil the pistol prior to first firing. Be very liberal at the slides and most especially the hopper of the barrel.
I say this because we had many jams of the pistol in loading and even during rapid fire. Upon taking the pistol apart, cleaning and oiling the weapon liberally we have not had any further jamming issues. Just an FYI
I will also say that the SD40VE is much like a baseball mitt, as in the more rounds you put thru it, the better it breaks in - like an old baseball mitt.
Overall, as my very first ever pistol purchase I was not disappointed! So glad I took the advice of the guy next to me about spending a little more and getting the Smith and Wesson... I was planning on just getting the least expensive boat anchor but I'm so glad I didn't.
Here is a photo of what my pistol looks like, I will follow this post up with the wife and I firing it on YouTube.
