Old buddy in WA state just took delivery on his model 3. I saw a pic, nice gray color. He's coming to visit late June so I will get to check it out, get pics.

Looking forward to hearing what you think of your friends 3 when he takes delivery, I am sure he will share all of the little quirks and such as time goes by too.
It will be interesting to see how these vehicles hold up over time, along with an actual cost to maintain.

OK. The model 3 was very cool. Buddy was only here 2 days, 1 ride about 8 miles. Showed the autopilot on a back road sorta, rt163 and on the highway. Turn signal changed lanes, follows twisty curveys. Car is very comfortable, open, clean, quiet of course, got zip. Couple, very few buttons where we are used to wipers etc. Most everything on on the screen. Got to be an 11-12" screen mid dash. Everything is there, charge, remaining miles. gps, all of it and seems pretty user friendly. Personally I see "distraction" from the road but suppose that depends on the user. Get used to it and just drive.
He has a home charger but gets "electrons" elsewhere. He has charged up less than $2 around here! $8 in Wa state gives him 90% 280 miles. Not bad
I'm not sure that I could ever get used to not hearing an induction-roar when I opened the throttle wide-open...Just wouldn't seem right, & I doubt I'd get used to it...
It seems that regular fuel will be around for my life-time at least, so I should be OK for my selfish needs lol.
At least it's a real & positive step forward for the planet, that's for sure ! I bet the costs of running it / charging it will increase dramatically once enough people cross-over to electric cars.

I never noticed any kind of roar, noise at all. Closing the doors was the loudest thing I heard!

Other interesting things. In auto pilot you can set the distance behind the car in front of you. While the Tesla is infinite drive you will still feel the vehicle in front of you shift gears.

The price is sure good for the moment to recharge ! I bet once people cross-over, they'll start stinging for car-park-usage for the 40+ minute recharge LOL !
I guess the idea is to fully charge at home, & just top-up along the way, say every 2-hours or so. But like regular fuel, the more throttle you use, the more energy you use too...
Another thing with rechargeable batteries, is the lifespan of the battery itself, & its replacement cost...Not to mention the less & less mileage that will be experienced as it degrades for the same recharge cost & time needed...
For comparison here on fuel prices, it's back up to $1.75 per liter of 9ctane fuel at BP...This means it cost me $32:00 for about 18-liters to fill up my Hayabusa last time...(Or around $120:00 for the Mercedes)....

Yes charge stations could go up, most demand things do. I forgot how long the batteries were supposed to last, lipos are not cheap. Think he has 280 miles on 90% charge, decent range if your not on a trip.
