Organizer of deadly Virginia rally plans follow-up in Washington
Reuters
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The organizer of a far-right rally last year in Charlottesville, Virginia, that turned deadly is planning to hold a rally near the White House in Washington on the first anniversary of the event, federal officials said on Wednesday.
Jason Kessler filed an application last month and it has been approved to hold what he described as a "white civil rights rally" on Aug. 11-12, although a permit has not yet been issued, Mike Litterst, a spokesman for the National Park Service, said in an email.
Kessler organized the Aug. 12, 2017 "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville that drew international attention when a suspected white nationalist crashed his car into a crowd of counterprotesters, killing one woman. U.S. President Donald Trump inflamed tensions when he said both sides were to blame for the violence.
The rally in Charlottesville, home to the flagship campus of the University of Virginia, followed months of protests over the city's proposed removal of a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee.
Kessler previously has denied the Virginia event was intended to provoke violence, contending the counterprotesters sparked the fighting and blaming police for failing to protect his group. He did not respond to a request for comment on Wednesday.
In a redacted copy of the application posted online, Kessler estimated 400 people would attend the Washington rally, and added he would work with law enforcement during the event.
Kessler also has applied to hold an event in Charlottesville, but that was denied due to concerns over public safety, according to Virginia ABC TV affiliate WSET.
Look, just ban all Chrysler / Dodge vehicles from the premises and problem solved!
I think the problem is much deeper. I think society is crawling with mentally unstable yet macho people who tend to get their "news" from places like Breitbart, Blacksphere, Redstatenews, Fox, NY Post, Washington Examiner, etc.
Banning Chrysler products would not have prevented it. Banning right wing hate propaganda may have.

So you're saying it's okay for counter protestors to attack people in vehicles?
What is wrong with you people!? Liberals that have all this time to spend protesting need to get a job and quit sucking off the taxpayers and Soros' tit! I have a hard time getting away for two days for a vacation, yet some people seem to have nothing but time to cause trouble in the streets!

Since when did the rights of protestors give them the right to inhibit and take over a public street? I know someone who was yanked out of their vehicle and beaten for just trying to navigate around a similar "mob" congregation.
The right to protest does not include shutting down public roads and highways. In some states it is 100% legal to run down a protestor who is demonstrating in the street if you feel said demonstration is a threat to your safety.
They tried to attack this motorist by crowding him in, but they soon learned that the motorist would attack back!
I am consistent in my thoughts that if a "mob" of people are protesting, regardless their political affiliation, that whatever innocent passerby, also regardless of political affiliation, should be allowed to plow their way thru rather than risk being personally injured as a result of the "mob" mentality that is unlawfully being expressed. The nerve of any protester that would suck in innocent people who just happen to be caught up in the middle. There is NO EXCUSE for this! NONE! I have no tolerance for that kind of nonsense PowerStroker! You try and frame it one way because it's usually one of Soros' paid protest that see's people rioting and looting - hurting innocent people to advance their cause. What kind of person thinks that's right?

President Trumps false claim that counterprotesters lacked a permit
You had a group on the other side that came charging in without a permit, and they were very, very violent. . . . You had a lot of people in that [white nationalist] group that were there to innocently protest and very legally protest, because you know I dont know if you know they had a permit. The other group didnt have a permit.
President Trump, remarks during a news conference on infrastructure, Aug. 15, 2017
In blaming both sides for the violence in Charlottesville that left one person dead, President Trump twice asserted that the people protesting white supremacists and neo-Nazis lacked a permit, unlike the groups that gathered to protest the possible removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.
But thats turned out to be false, according to documents and interviews obtained by our Washington Post colleague Justin Wm. Moyer.
The Facts
Walt Heinecke, a professor at the University of Virginia, told Moyer that he received a special events certificate of approval for events at McGuffey Park and Justice Park sites blocks from Emancipation Park, where white nationalists had a permit for a Saturday rally. A car allegedly driven by James Alex Fields Jr. rammed into counterprotesters, killing a 32-year-old woman, on Fourth Street, which runs adjacent to Justice Park.
The document is below, with Heineckes address and cellphone number removed.
Charlottesville spokeswoman Miriam I. Dickler told Moyer that only one permit was issued for Emancipation Park the one received by white nationalists staging the Unite the Right rally. However, counterprotesters did not need permits to protest that rally, she said.
Please bear in mind that people do not need a permit to enter a public park, even when another event is scheduled to take place there, nor are they required to have one to be on streets or sidewalks adjacent to or outside the park, Dickler said in an email.
At one point, the president appeared to refer to a march the night before the death at the main rally. There were people in that rally, and I looked the night before, he said. If you look, they were people protesting very quietly the taking down of the statue of Robert E. Lee.
On Friday night, about 250 white nationalists carrying torches marched and chanted anti-Semitic slogans on the U-Va. campus, where they encountered about 30 students who had locked arms around the base of a statue of Thomas Jefferson, according to a Washington Post timeline. Brief clashes took place, resulting in some injuries. U-Va. allows access to open spaces, and so permits were not required for such marches, according to a statement by U-Va. President Teresa A. Sullivan condemning the intimidating and abhorrent behavior displayed by the alt-right protestors.
I think what the president is trying to say is that counterprotesters did not have a permit to be in Emancipation Park, Heinicke said. Thats irrelevant. He added: Either way you cut it, the president got it wrong.
The White House declined to comment.
The Pinocchio Test
President Trump twice claimed that counterprotesters lacked a permit to demonstrate in Charlottesville. But they did have permits for rallies on Saturday and they did not need one to go into or gather near Emancipation Park, where white nationalists scheduled their rally. No permits were needed to march on the U-Va. campus on Friday night. The president earns Four Pinocchios.
It's easy to know what the Liberals are guilty of. All you have to do is see what they are accusing Trump supporters of. John Nolte from Breitbart put together a huge list of "Media Approved Violence and Harassment Agaist Trump Supporters. The author worte that he is open to updating the list as readers help contribute to more instances that should be added.
Breitbart: "When not calling Trump supporters Nazis as a means to dehumanize us, the establishment media like to whine about the lack of civility in American politics, even as they cover up, ignore, downplay, or straight-up approve of the wave of violence and public harassment we are seeing against supporters of President Trump."
Here is the full detailed list. Each number is linked to the story pertaining to it. Breitbart explained they went through great lengths to ensure accuracy of facts.

Since you seem to be so drawn to Breitbart and those like them, and spend so much time there. Do you happen to know if they have ever said anything bad of this?
Rex, the counter-protesters did have a permit, you may view it here:
Don't know if they did Power. I read all over the place, this happened to be an article I copied from another post on the forum, seemed pertinent.
The right did not become unhinged during post turtles 8 years. No burning cars, laying in traffic, hitting people with bike locks, piss, acid, bats, flipping police cars etc. Right is not unhinged like the left is, never has been. Never will be.
You may not like where I get some of my news from, then disprove it is your right. I didn't like the one you posted saying the right did not like ovomit simply because he is black(half white) You don't like blacksphere because Kevin is black. See how that works?
Why were people chasing the vehicle? I'd like to see a video that actually shows the start of this incident. Chick in the pink seemed like she was really butt hurt as she screamed out "fuck".
At any rate, do you think insurance covers stuff like that? How about the vehicle? Do you think they put that vehicle down or do you think it was auctioned off for someone else? If the OJ Bronco was worth money, do you think this silver Challenger will also command a premium at auction? You can't deny it would be an interesting conversation piece.

I think his insurance policy is probably capped at far less than the damage he did.
OJ's Bronco wasn't used as a murder weapon. It would take a special kind of asshole to want to buy the instrument of racially motivated vehicular manslaughter. Unfortunately if it's something you want, you'll probably have to bid against Trump, and he has pretty deep pockets.
Well I don't imagine we will see the Charlottesville Challenger on Barrett Jackson anytime soon, but you have to wonder what's going to become of the vehicle after it's out of impound.
Do you think that Ford's is a special kind of asshole, given the fact they have Booth's Deringer on display at Ford's Theatre?
They have Kennedy's convertible Lincoln at the Ford museum too. Not really sure how I feel about that either. I guess it depends on what kinds of emotions it evokes in people. The Deringer and Kennedy's car generally evoke emotions of horrible loss.
I have a feeling that the Breitbart crowd would view the Challenger positively as a holy shrine like Mecca to which they should make a pilgrimage to see at some point in their life.

Fight fire with water PowerStroker.
Be careful of that slippery slope down-hill, as "they" may not let you climb back out.
