Well ladies and gentlemen... Tonight the HSI fell behind the DOW for the first time in a long time. It has not closed as of this writing, but currently stands at HSI = 26,634.78 vs DOW = 26,828.39!
I know its a silly metric, but it is something I have been watching for many years now - at least every since it broke that China was manipulating its currency.
Clearly President Trump is making a dent in the trade war with China!

Yo,
I hope Mr.Trump holds-off on any war soon...I've just ordered some parts / fairings for my Hayabusa...I need a few more weeks for delivery thanks !

LOL! I am pretty sure you will be fine Rastus, I dont see war breaking out anytime soon but you never know with them sorts of things.
As it cools down over on this side of the planet it must be warming up for you guys in Australia. Is our fall season the start of your spring season? Sounds like its going to be one hell of a summer already!
What other parts did you get besides fairings?

There's a company over there called LKKmotor, & they custom make & paint fairings for most brands, to original fit & specs, using the same ABS-resin, & claim to be "the" manufacturers of "all" the top-quality after-market fairings that you see on the net...All you do is follow their links, decide on what parts you want, the paint-scheme, & then pay your money lol ! They will get back to you via e-mail with a picture of the finished products, & if you're happy, you let them know & they then post away !
There's a 5-7 day period of manufacturing & painting the stuff ( That's where I am now ). And another 5-10 day delivery time. Postage is calculated into the total amount.
I paid $620:00-AUD for 20-pieces, including a rear-seat cowl, bolts, & the OEM paint scheme.
To replace 1 x OEM fairing from Suzuki was over $620:00-AUD.
Going this way was a no-brainer IMO, as this way "every plastic part is brand-new & freshly painted", & all the reviews I read were great, & they were generally from people state-side.
I'll up-date the Hayabusa thread soon in the V-8 Cafe, once the bits & pieces arrive, & fill you in on how poor-old-Rastus got taken-out by a car lol !
Cheers,
Rastus

I will be very curious to hear the quality and fitment of the parts, however it is highly probable that the same equipment that was used by Suzuki to make these panels (in China) is probably the exact same equipment they used to reproduce them - sans the logos. Id also imagine intellectual property theft is widespread in Asia. There is no doubt serious savings and value in the re-pop parts from China as they seem to be doing a better job now days of copying other peoples stuff. lol
Hate to hear you were in an accident! Especially on a bike! Hope you are well, and no broken bones!
@ $620 for one panel vs. $620 for all of them painted I think you got a pretty good bargain! Looking forward to hearing more!

Yes, there are essentially only 2 x fairings that were damaged, the RHS, & the upper nose fairing. ( The others surprisingly missed damage, though the grab-rail for the passenger is marked too ). Anyhow, the main thing that got me looking was time, as my "usual" (lol) paint & panel guy was tied-up with other work for at least 3-weeks, & he wanted around the $500:00 AUD mark to repair & paint, & that's with me supplying the paint & clear. This is not an unreasonable quote to be honest, but we both doubted the longevity of the repair to the RHS fairing, as the main fastener boss was pretty messed-up, & you can't really say how long it would hold-out for.
Once again, after doing the numbers, the China-made stuff, wins hands-down, especially when everything will be new & freshly painted. And all going well, it should all arrive here by-the-time my paint-&-panel guy would have even been able to start on the repair work...Plus he always says "I'll need 2-weeks maximum", but he usually takes 3-4 weeks lol !
The only damage to myself were skinned knee-caps, bruising in strange places & sore shoulder sockets on both arms. When the car hit me, I was Superman flying through the air, & landed on my front...
Cheers,
Rastus

Not everyone can get in the V8 cafe. I'd like to see a couple pics.
Once the new stuff gets here, I'll lay the broken bits & pieces down next to the bike & take a few photos. It's just crowded here at the moment, as I also had to grab another car for transport in the short-term...eg...
* The parts for the Mercedes are ex-Germany + 5-week wait...
* The Hayabusa is in repair...Awaiting parts from all-over-the place, though plenty have arrived already.
* The GSXR-1100M was always destined to become my retirement restoration project, so I let the rego slip a few years ago due to a noisy-but-functional 3rd gear..Still awaiting parts.
* A new to me S/H Commodore Wagon was bought under duress to keep me mobile. ( I live a little way out-of-town, too far to walk etc etc )...
The Commodore isn't too bad a car to be honest...I had 2-to-choose from, & one had a blown head-gasket, & the one I bought had a dodgy fuel-pump that I've only just refitted with a new one, as it was starting to go from being noisy to having the car start crapping-out-on me...grrr...
Both were cheap, but high mileage units, with around 150,000 miles ( in your scale ) clocked-up. They're fitted with your Buick 3.8 ltr V-6, Hydromatic electric 4-speed auto, & have been redesigned for rear-wheel-drive operation. Great work-horses IMO. Mine came with full-service-history, & was essentially a Company vehicle for a phone company all its life. There's a few marks & dings around the body, & the interior is not perfect either, but I didn't pay much for it, especially when you consider registration fees here in Oz are around $700:00, & it has 11-months standing. So I see it as a win to get it for a lowly 2.2K. The fuel-p/p assy was under $200:00 with new filter, & came complete with pre-filters & sender unit.
In all honesty, the thing drives great, & I didn't expect this from a now just-on 20-year-old car.
At least I'm mobile, & in some unusual small way, have helped keep America great, by having Buick / GM propulsion LOL !

LOL! Good story Rastus and thanks for helping to Make America Great Again!
You really cant go wrong with a GM 3800 series V6 engine! Yes they require maintenance just like everything else but as you have noticed parts are inexpensive and readily available!
It is also very fitting with your profession that you drive a vehicle called a Commodore because isnt that the highest sea commanders title? The one who controls the fleet of ships?
Lots of people also love the utility of a wagon, which is part of the reason I was so excited to get that Escalade.
You should check out the GM forums as I think I have some write up about GMs 3800 engines and some common issues.
I was pretty sure that Shawnee and Haslefree were V8 Cafe members, maybe he just hasnt checked in awhile?

I just finished reading the news headlines on RT Moscow, & it seems that Iran is giving Mr.Trump "the bird" over these supposed sanctions...
Xinhua news headlines read similar too, suggesting China-trade-sanctions will hurt everyone, including the US-of-A economy...
(Did someone bother to fetch Mr.Trumps umbrella BTW) ?...

Many feel it is bad luck to bring a open umbrella into a room or enclosed area. It is obvious the umbrella malfunctioned and so it was left for the guy who comes along a cleans up the stairs. Who cares? I would have done the same thing if I was wearing a suit getting onto Air Force one!
No one cares what Russia has to say Rastus! No one here in the USA buys or needs anything from Russia and Trump is trying to make that same case for China. Let them fend for themselves and take care of their peoples needs and we will take care of ours! It is my hope that China becomes as irrelevant to US trade as Russia is today.
The USA economy will be fine Rastus! It is still the best place in the world to live as I have no desire to live in Russia, China or anywhere else for that matter.

Had Trump taken the hard line with Xi, instead of turning to putty in his hands I might not have minded so much the 800 point drop in the market today - and HELL, I dont even have any skin in the market game!
Shawnee, if you cant take the heat - get out of the kitchen! LOL

I think GM may have done fuked themselves with their latest. Hope Bowling Green keeps going though! You been to the Corvette Museum, plant and track yet? Pretty cool
Word on the street here in Detroit is that Fords cuts are going to make GMs most recent cuts look small...
This whole 90 day thing was a VERY BAD IDEA... China could give a $hit about the American economy! They are in fact trying to overthrow American currency as the worlds standard!
I do not know what they are doing to stroke Trumps ego in private because it is almost like Trump likes the smell of Xi and Kims ass...
China is never going to change! The idea that somehow American companies will be able to do business in China like they do here in the USA is a fools errand! It is NEVER going to happen! EVER!
Why is Trump even wasting money going overseas to the G20 and things like that!? If he was America first he would just close himself off to all these foreign influences and focus on things here at home! But he cant because he wants to milk this Russian collusion story he has been allowing to spiral out of control to run its course... Trump could have ended that before it started too...
And has anyone seen Scott Free the past few days?

Mines a F350 4x4 standard cab 2003. Gasser. Got less than 75K on it. Likely to be the last one! Got to check my ID, PS mentioned the code for Canada built and I was told it was. Bought it 2 hrs from Quebec with 17K on it, could be.
Cmon guys I know you can not resist an opportunity to inflate your post counts!
LOL !
It's like this SELLC, & no disrespect to Mr.Trump...But I think the whole world is going to sit-it-out until 2020 ( if possible ) & take Mr.Trumps "bollox" on the foreign stage, until a replacement is found.
Apparently G-20 was a failure for all, & Mr.trump was acting like a baby crying in a pram, suspecting that everyone wants to steal his candy away from him.
It's the World Banks & Nuke Industry that are the folly-of-the-world anyhow...All this is just show-biz to keep the political jobs alive.
My $00:02,
Rastus

I hate to break it to you and the rest of the world Rastus, but President Trump is what America has given the world and regardless how people may feel about Trump and his term limits - the American people are not static and will be here to vote the best man or woman for the job long after Lifetime Dick-Tator Xi is gone! So while Trump may only have six years to serve as President, that six years can be either good or bad for China.
I was shocked when I heard that Trump was giving Xi 90 days to dick around! Why wait!?
We will soon see I guess.

"When Obama left office, Jan 20, 2017, the Dow closed at 19,827. When he entered office, Jan 20, 2009, the Dow closed at 7,949. In other words, in his 8 years in office the Dow went up roughly 250%. If Trump stays in office 8 years, the Dow would have to be 49,369 for his term in office to equal Obamas as it relates to the stock market and the Dow Jones Industrial average."

HSI has just sunk 700+ points and is trailing the DOW once more. Probably because of the protest, but I have said many times in here that Chinas people would rise up against the iron fist that keeps them down! And for that I tip my hat to the brave people of Hong Kong! Respect!
Should be an interesting day on Wall Street tomorrow!

HSI is on track to crack +1000 points tonight/today on the word that they are withdrawing extradition bill!
Wonder if that means we will see a -1000 point drop?
Dangerous thing about the world pumping massive amounts money into the US markets is that a time will come that they will all pull it out at one time. The global markets seem to be one gigantic game of musical chairs - and thats about as close to getting my mind around it as I can.
