According to my peeps I have been hearing that Tesla is locking technicians out of their vehicles, or otherwise making them nearly impossible to communicate with for the aftermarket and sometimes making them immobile in the cases of people buying them from salvage yards after accidents.
Then I heard today that the new Model 3 no longer has a government mandated OBDII port! I thought the OBDII port was more than just an emissions requirement, I thought the mandate made it to where anyone selling vehicles in the USA must make their vehicles systems diagnosable by someone other than just the dealership!? What is becoming of the motor vehicle laws now days? With companies like Tesla circumventing the law and making cars without widely accessible ports to allow them to be tested, what is next?
Seems to me the effort is clearly a direct attempt to corner the Tesla market, as to prevent anyone else but Tesla from working on them. The absence of an OBDII port is a clear violation of the motor vehicle requirement imposed on everyone else - except Tesla?
WTF!?
