Hi does anyone know how far in does the dipstick for checking the transmission oil level go in from the top of the filler tube as mine sticks but with a bit of force it goes in more if some one could measure one it would be a big help.
Make sure the engine & trans are hot, & check on level ground, with the engine running.
Use a white paper cloth to wipe the stick, then re-dip it to check the level, & the fluid should be a strawberry red color, & have a sweet smell.
As long as the fluid is within the high & low marks, leave it alone.
A 1/2 litre of fluid will likely lift the level from low to full, but it takes a long while to drain down the dip-stick-tube, so false readings will happen.
Auto-fluid does evaporate a little over time, so you may not have a leak to look for if low.
