Here I am with 94 year old Vincent Speranza who was a 101st Airborne Division 

machine gunner at Bastogne. Also, google Paratrooper Beer, and you will learn of 

his story carrying beer to wounded troops in the medical aid station in his helmet. 

What an honor to be with an Airborne Paratrooper of the Greatest Generation

This was taken last night at the 74th reunion of the 101st Airborne Division Memorial dinner

with Fred Foggie, Army draftsman, who redesigned the modern Screaming Eagle shoulder

patch back in the early 60s. I spoke last night about Legacy, and Fred is certainly the

embodiment of that ideal!

I believe the readiness of our armed forces is a moral issue, because ultimately

"readiness" just describes how well the men and women we send into harm's

way are prepared for what we send them to confront. And I'd be grateful if

y'all gave my book a read
