the car runs great but sometimes it will leave us stuck -the next day it will start up an run as if nothing happen. mechs say they cant get it to do it-love the car but worry about taking it out - anyone had this problem-- fuel filter-plugs-wires all have been changed
There are a lot of parts you could throw at the car, however the best way to isolate the problem will be to find out weather it's lacking spark or fuel when it once again dies. You may be able to duplicate the problem by letting it run in the driveway, however once it does stall you will want to remove the coil wire from the ignition coil and have the wife crank the engine over. You should see sparks running down the coil while it's cranking over. If you don't see any spark you Lilkley have an ignition problem. If you do see sparks you Likely have a fuel problem. Once we know if it's a fuel or spark problem we can focus on the componets. For example no spark we would inspect the coil, ignition module, and reffrence sensor. For a fuel problem we would check the fuel pump relay, fuel pumps and also there is a way to bypass the FPR for testing purposes. Let us know if it's fuel or spark and we can go from there.
Good luck and thanks for checking with us.
