"Detroit -- The lure of federal cash assistance for needy Detroit families sparked pandemonium Wednesday at Cobo Center, as hundreds of city residents pushed, jostled and trampled others in a rush to apply for the aid.
In a scene that spoke volumes about the despair of one of the nation's poorest cities, about 50,000 Detroiters descended on downtown to pick up 5,000 applications in hopes of enrolling in a federal program that pays a few hundred to a few thousand dollars to low-income residents to help pay rent and utilities.
In fact, some 60,000 residents applied for the aid over two days, although the city will only be able to help about 3,400 families.
Wednesday's line stretched for blocks and before the process could be completed at least six people were taken away by ambulance, 150 police were called to the scene and the city stopped distributing applications before noon."
WoW...
People were talking about the soup lines that socialism brings... Well here is one of the first! Appears that the city was handing out 60,000 applications for this money. They ran out at noon, and several people were taken away in the meat wagon!
Here are some interesting stories you should read. If you are not aware Michigan is #1 for unemployment and can be an early indication of what all you other states might be dealing with in the future. After all we were the first ones to feel the depression... er.. I mean recession, so I think it might be worth your time to read.
Hey I dont have a problem with Detroit getting money! If anything I am jealous I didnt get any! Maybe its because I am White, because I sure could use some extra money to pay my gas and electric bill!
This is pretty funny. It is an interview that Mr. Rogulski from WJR News made on the street by Cobo hall where they were handing out these applications.
ROGULSKI: Why are you here?
WOMAN #1: To get some money.
ROGULSKI: What kind of money?
WOMAN #1: Obama money.
ROGULSKI: Where's it coming from?
WOMAN #1: Obama.
ROGULSKI: And where did Obama get it?
WOMAN #1: I don't know, his stash. I don't know. (laughter) I don't know where he got it from, but he givin' it to us, to help us.
WOMAN #2: And we love him.
WOMAN #1: We love him. That's why we voted for him!
WOMEN: (chanting) Obama! Obama! Obama! (laughing)
RUSH: Now, yes, I think it's fine to laugh. I think it's frankly fine to laugh. (laughing) It's freaking sad. Obama giving us money from his stash, that's why we love him, Barack Hussein Obama, mmm, mmm, mmm. Here's the report from yesterday, just to refresh your memory.
ROGULSKI: Did you get an application to fill out yet?
WOMAN: I sure did. And I filled it out, and I am waiting to see what the results are going to be.
ROGULSKI: Will you know today how much money you're getting?
WOMAN: No, I won't, but I'm waiting for a phone call.
ROGULSKI: Where's the money coming from?
WOMAN: I believe it's coming from the City of Detroit or the state.
ROGULSKI: Where did they get it from?
WOMAN: Some funds that was forgiven (sic) by Obama.
ROGULSKI: And where did Obama get the funds?
WOMAN: Obama getting the funds from... Ummm, I have no idea, to tell you the truth. He's the president.
ROGULSKI: In downtown Detroit, Ken Rogulski, WJR News.
RUSH: Now, let me put this in perspective. This is the model citizen in Barack Obama's vision. These people are model citizens. These are the people who would be wealthy and rich today were it not for the fact that the achievers of this society since this country was founded stole everything they had. And so Obama looks at these people as victims of an unjust and immoral country, and by God, he's going to make sure that they think he's making it all good for them. And they all do. Dumb, uninformed, shockingly, saddeningly stupid, the model citizen for Barack Obama and the Democrat Party.
The last administration had an agenda. Invade Iraq, topple Saddam, liberate the people and get out after the people were in control.
That is not wishful thinking, its not a dream, its not hope. It's a fact. Its a RESULT.
What is the agenda for Afghanastan? What is the primary objective of that mission? Or do we plan to just start killing people whom look like taleban until such time as we go broke or kill enough of them?
There was nothing wrong with the last administration except for the idiots like yourself whom did not support Bush, and now come in here asking me to support Obama with some trumped up BS that even a kid could denounce.
How unstable would the Middle East be right now if Saddam was still in power? You do know why you dont hear about Saddam causing problems dont you?
Thats right!

The last administration had an agenda. Invade Iraq, topple Saddam,
Yup, that was the plan even before 911
liberate the people and get out after the people were in control.
Or once they made billionaires out of their buddies who own military contracting companies, at the taxpayers expense of course.
That is not wishful thinking, its not a dream, its not hope. It's a fact. Its a RESULT.
Where exactly are those weapons of mass destruction I keep hearing about???? And who exactly attacked us on 911?????????????????? By Bush and Cheneys own admission Iraq and Saddam had nothing to do with it. It was BIN LADEN who's terrorist group had almost no presence in Iraq until we invaded. And most of the hijackers came from Saudi Arabia... But we can't bomb them because they bankrolled Bush's campaign and bought his failed oil company for many times more than it was worth back in the old days when he was high on coke and constantly drunk. Al Qaeda had a bigger presence in the US than it did in Iraq when 911 happened... Should we bomb the US too? Germany maybe, since that's where the 911 attacks were planned.

Good question, You should ask your boy Bush about that. I think you've pretty much nailed it. Originally it was to break up Al Qaeda who based out of Afghanistan at the time. Now they've moved on - mostly to Pakistan so I hope President Obama gets the ground troops out of there and transitions to an intelligence gathering and drone attack strategy to keep them out. The cost/benefit ratio of trying to eliminate the Taliban just doesn't make sense, and the Afghani people aren't exactly opposed to the Taliban. I suggest we refocus on Al Qaeda.

What exactly did Bush do to earn my support??? I'm not asking you to support Obama, just deal in facts - that's all. I thought this was supposed to be an automotive website anyway... Not some place for right wingers to bloviate and whine.
How unstable would the Middle East be right now if Saddam was still in power? You do know why you don't hear about Saddam causing problems dont you?
Actually Saddam was a brutal dictator, but did serve well to keep Iran in check. What problems had Saddam been causing us in the last 10 years anyway?
Thats right!
Whatever

Come on, they did a good job over there. They had a JOB and worked for the money.

It wasnt all about wepons of mass distruction. He had already used gas on people. It's clear that nukes were next. You can bet anyone involved ended up dead, or totally forgot anything. Come on... Were talking about nukes!

Yes, that sounds about right.

The time to support him has come and gone. Obama is in there now. Bush has already done his job. He doesnt have to live up to his accomplishments as they have been completed, with results might I add.
Actually Saddam was a brutal dictator, but did serve well to keep Iran in check. What problems had Saddam been causing us in the last 10 years anyway?
So who cares about his own people that he was killing. After all they were conspiring to assasinate him right? Oh the irony.
Whatever
