While the nation is smack dab in the middle of a recession, our spendy President, while on vacation might I add, has decided on having his office re-done.
I guess the $62,000 rug was not good enough, and having all of the furnature re-done in leather will more than welcome the next new President.
I can honestly say that I am fed up with this shit. It would be one thing if Obama owned the white house like many professional business owners do, but this guy is in public office and spending like a drunken sailor at a time that is not so good for most of the Americans he swore "Change" to.
How's that hopey-changy thing working for you guys?
Although President Barack Obama made some basic changes when he was sworn in swapping out china plates for mechanical gadgets and Native American pottery on the bookshelves, and changing some of the art on the walls the office was largely unaltered from its appearance during the Bush administration.
This morning, ahead of the his address to the nation from the Oval Office, the White House unveiled some more major changes.
One of the most notable is the new rug. President George W. Bush often spoke about how the rug designed by Laura Bush and installed in 2001 was a symbol of his optimistic style of leadership.
At the beginning of the Obama administration, aides said the new president liked the $62,000 rug and had no plans to change it.
Obama's new rug features the White House seal in the center. The main field is a variegated beige. Around the edges, the circular rug features quotes from historical leaders in navy blue, separated from each other by stars. Notably, not all the quotes are by former presidents:
"No problem of human destiny is beyond human beings." - John F. Kennedy
"The welfare of each of us is dependent fundamentally upon the welfare of all of us." - Teddy Roosevelt
"The arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice." - Martin Luther King
"Government of the people by the people for the people." - Abraham Lincoln
"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." - Franklin D. Roosevelt
On either side of the seal on the rug are two new couches. Gone are the formal brocade sofas. They were replaced by more casual and more comfortable looking light brown pieces with textured upholstery, skirted bottoms, plump cushions and colorful accent pillows.
Additionally, the cost of these renovations are claimed to have come at no tax payer expence.
I would be interested in knowing how that works. Given the fact that Obama get's paid $400K per year by the Government, and his books would no doubt have sold very little had he not ran for and become president.
Just seems like poor timing. Away on one of MANY recent vacations and while away a new office? Man, that has to be nice!
For fucks sake! Couldn't Obama have used that money to make his OWN HOME nicer? I mean at this rate he may only get to use the stuff for 2 more years!
Putting a quote from a man that was NOT A PRESIDENT on the rug? I don't know. Just does not seem to belong there. Obama would have been more on point to put his OWN quote on there, given the simple fact it is the OVAL OFFICE and he IS THE PRESIDENT. Guess he likes to sell himself short. I don't know.

Well, I guess it's ok for George to lie us in to an elective war and leave our great grandchildren to pay for it forever, but it's not ok for President Obama to show how resilient we are by making some minor improvements to the peoples house using donated money during a time of economic distress.
Even if some of the money wasn't donated, you should know that all administrations are given a White House improvement budget that can only be spent that way, so he may as well use it and stimulate the economy. He is the most powerful man in the world, he may as well make his office comfy.
Slow news day again eh? You should watch the news tonight, he's making his 2nd Oval Office address to the nation so you can see the improvements on live tv.

Actually PowerStroker, let's look at some of the facts. Invading Iraq was not primarily about Weapons of Mass Destruction. In 1998 Congress passed at Clinton's urging a declaration of our intention to remove Saddam Hussein from power. Clinton himself signed that document. The overwhelming majority of both house and senate voted in favor of the military action in Iraq based on the "best available intelligence" at the time. Those that voted against were only a handful, you can easily verify that with a wiki search. Congress changed polarity in 2006. The Democrats gained control of house and senate, all economic indicators through the first half of 2007 were positive and strong. The second half of 2007 and beyond is when the declines really started showing up, that is 6 months after the Democrats took over the purse. Immediately after coming to office, Obama proposed and received a 40% increase to the existing budget, then came the 787 billion dollar stimulus that OMB recently graded as 863 billion over 2 years. So it really doesn't matter if your a Democrat or Republican, this president is spend happy and failing. His economic policies are based only on theory and are not working. The administrations favorite by line is that "we miscalculated" "things are worse than we thought" all the while trying to sell sunshine and rainbows to show success. I could sit and debate for hours where this all started but it really doesn't matter. What matters is that we have an inexperienced president that isn't intelligent enough to change his advisors that are leading him astray.

No thanks PowerStroker. It would just make me sick as Obama is trapped over his head by the job and afraid to show it. He has alienated business, and finance so they are sitting tight. He claims to make overtures, but doesn't understand why business won't work with him. Maybe he should watch some of his own press when talking about the bailouts, or health care reform, the oil spill in the gulf, executive pay and bonuses etc. They all have one striking thing in common, everyone of those instances, the corporations involved were willing to work with government to set things right, until he turned on them and made them into the criminals. You don't tell someone in the national media that "you have your foot firmly on their throat" and expect them to be happy to cooperate with you. You don't turn on an industry that is actually supporting your initiative just so you can get public opinion behind you, and expect them to cooperate either. Finally when you loan money to someone it is customary to have all the conditions up front so the borrower knows what to expect, not dictated to them after they have received and made use of the money.
Don't thank me PowerStroker, thank your Archangel.

Yeah the guy likes to wear his family on his sleeve. Did you see all them photos in the background? Boy is he trying hard to put on a show.
I do not recall any other president cluttering the backdrop with such a large amount of photos. Most people put their loved ones photos on their desk facing them, Obama on the other hand put's his family behind him. Interesting.
Glad you liked the Presidents new office PowerStroker, I am sure the next President will appreciate the fresh leather on the chairs. With them pillows on the sofa they may as well throw a PS3 up in there with a big flat screen TV and a killer audio system. Oh wait, that stuff was made in China. Guess we can figure out what Obama spent his hard earned cash on for his home in Chicago. And while we are on the topic of his home in Chicago, does anyone even stay there anymore? Or is it just a front until after he get's evicted from the White House, where-as he will sell it and make a huge profit to buy a bigger home back in Jakarta Indo.
Only time will tell.

I could give a flying fuck what POS GM Obama want's to tool around in. I could also give a flying fuck how much his security detail is paid ,which might I add is higher than any other President in history.
No, I just get to sit back and laugh my ass off as the middle class all but disappears and the poor folks get poorer. Not only that, they are taking it like a champ because they "Think" their Democratic president cares.
Call me when your debt to income ratio is in order, because untill that time PowerStroker you are the one that needs to "Suck it up".
I can't help it Bush's approval rating is higher today than Obama's. I can't help it everyone else is starting to see the light while you keep your head in the sand. You are a union worker, the main reason this country is so fucked up. Of course you kiss donkey ass! I just never met anyone that eats shit as good as you.

Actually the Obama motorcade should have the theam song from the movie Coming to America, but rather than four S class Mercedes Benz W126 vehicles it's Obama's motorcade.
While my maroon GTA looked like the soul glo Prince's, let us not forget that I currently OWN 4 of the Mercedes featured in that movie. Have you ever seen Coming to America PowerStroker? I liked pretty much all of Eddie Murphys early films. Coming to America, Trading Placed, 48 Hours, Beaverly Hills cop and of course his "Raw" comedy.
Now days you would be hard pressed finding him playing a part outside of a childrens movie. Oh the irony!
I think someone may be buying my Black 560 Benz this weekend. It will be nice to pay some bills down and be rightous for a moment.

To be totally honest, something had to be done with them lawn.... er... I mean arm chairs. I don't know that I care for the stripes on the walls, or the non-president quote, but hey.... Maybe when I am President I can blow a 100G on some pimp new decor for the office.
I figure Ill start my campaign on 2020, Ill be 45 then. Can I expect to have your vote PowerStroker?

It is the opinion of MANY that Obama lacks the experience to perform his job as President of the United States. Just how is it that Obama is educating when he himself is lacking?
No PowerStroker, I think Obama's education is going to come sometime in 2012.

Please.... She was WAY more qualified than out current Vice-President!
Not only that, look how long American tax payers will be paying for Obama when he is voted out! I think ex-presidets draw security detail and other tax payer money WELL AFTER they have been voted out.
Really we will be paying for your ignorance WELL after Obama is gone, and it wont be exclusive to his severance and security detail. He has made a real fine mess of things. The guy is more full of shit than YOU PowerStroker, and that's pretty bad!
