Can you name one piece of legislation passed in the last 10 years by the Republicans, that was fought by the Democrats, and had the soul purpose of helping working class people?
Caveats:
- No pipe dream promises, the bill must have actually been signed in to law by the President
- Nothing bipartisan, must be something the Democrats fought against
- No bone throwing to get something through ie: giving working people a small tax cut in order to simultaneously pass a large tax cut for rich people.
- Must be verifiable - post the name of the legislation, and if possible the house and senate bill numbers.
- No social legislation that only right wing working class people like, must be something that ALL working class people enjoy. ________________________________________________________
Again, this is an open challenge to anyone on this website.
I am voting Republican because the Democrats have failed at just about everything they have tried to do. They get away with it under the "Helping working Americans" lies.
You are barking up the wrong tree here PowerStroker. Although I do realize what you are trying to say, I don't agree with many of the entitlement laws the Democrats have thrust upon us. The most recent healthcare law can not even be considered to be "Helping working Americans". It should be called "Fleecing America".
I personally hope all the Democrats get gutted from our government. I don't think I can ever forgive them for that joke they played on the nation aka Healthcare law.
We can always count on the Democrats to pat themselves on the back whenever they pass a law, good or bad. Perhaps that is why you feel the Democrats have done more.
While I thank you for sharing your political feelings, I wasn't asking for them. I was asking anyone if they know about a Republican policy that actually has a soul purpose of helping working class people that the Dems were opposed to.
Gee... Bush gave away stimulus checks to everyone, regardless if they were working class or not. Seem's he was much more fair to "ALL" than just the "Working" class. What about all the stay at home mom's and unemployed? Do they not deserve to get equal treatment?
Do you need a link to the Bush Stimulus checks? Or was cashing yours proof enough the Republicans care about everyone?

I believe that was bi-partisan and thus will not meet the criteria of this challenge... Unless you can post a voting record proving a majority of the Dems voted against it.
Bi-partisan? Then why did Bush get all the credit? Because it was his idea?
PowerStroker says - "Oh that don't count because it's devistating to my challenge! The stimulus checks Bush had sent out didn't require the people to give anything up, or jump thru any hoops."
You really want me to find some more? It only makes you guys look like jackasses. Oh wait a minute...

I clearly stated at the beginning of my challenge that it must be a piece of REPUBLICAN legislation that the Democrats fought against. I have never said that the Republicans have never ever supported bi-partisan legislation for working class people. I'm challenging anyone on this site to find pro working class legislation that they passed, that the Dems fought against. You should really read the list of caveats before you start posting stuff.
Did the DNC put you up to this? I mean do they send you guys chain mails with this crap? Cuz I swear this is not the only site I visit, and all you Democrats seem to be preaching the same non-issues verbadum.
Just an observation..

Our nations top historians reveal that the Democratic Party gave us the Ku Klux Klan, Black Codes, Jim Crow Laws and other repressive legislation which resulted in the multitude of murders, lynchings, mutilations, and intimidations (of thousands of black and white Republicans). On the issue of slavery: historians say the Democrats gave their lives to expand it, the Republicans gave their lives to ban it.
The Democrats:
Democrats fought to expand slavery while Republicans fought to end it.
Democrats passed those discriminatory Black Codes and Jim Crow laws.
Democrats supported and passed the Missouri Compromise to protect slavery.
Democrats supported and passed the Kansas Nebraska Act to expand slavery.
Democrats supported and backed the Dred Scott Decision.
Democrats opposed educating blacks and murdered our teachers.
Democrats fought against anti-lynching laws.
Democrat Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia, is well known for having been a Kleagle in the Ku Klux Klan.
Democrat Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia, personally filibustered the Civil Rights Act of 1964 for 14 straight hours to keep it from passage.
Democrats passed the Repeal Act of 1894 that overturned civil right laws enacted by Republicans.
Democrats declared that they would rather vote for a yellow dog than vote for a Republican, because the Republican Party was known as the party for blacks.
Democrat President Woodrow Wilson, reintroduced segregation throughout the federal government immediately upon taking office in 1913.
Democrat President Franklin D. Roosevelts first appointment to the Supreme Court was a life member of the Ku Klux Klan, Sen. Hugo Black, Democrat of Alabama.
Democrat President Franklin D. Roosevelts choice for vice president in 1944 was Harry Truman, who had joined the Ku Klux Klan in Kansas City in 1922.
Democrat President Franklin D. Roosevelt resisted Republican efforts to pass a federal law against lynching.
Democrat President Franklin D. Roosevelt opposed integration of the armed forces.
Democrat Senators Sam Ervin, Albert Gore, Sr. and Robert Byrd were the chief opponents of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
Democrats supported and backed Judge John Ferguson in the case of Plessy v Ferguson.
Democrats supported the School Board of Topeka Kansas in the case of Brown v The Board of Education of Topeka Kansas.
Democrat public safety commissioner Eugene Bull Connor, in Birmingham, Ala., unleashed vicious dogs and turned fire hoses on black civil rights demonstrators.
Democrats were who Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the other protesters were fighting.
Democrat Georgia Governor Lester Maddox brandished an ax hammer to prevent blacks from patronizing his restaurant.
Democrat Governor George Wallace stood in front of the Alabama schoolhouse in 1963, declaring there would be segregation forever.
Democrat Arkansas Governor Faubus tried to prevent desegregation of Little Rock public schools.
Democrat Senator John F. Kennedy voted against the 1957 Civil rights Act.
Democrat President John F. Kennedy opposed the 1963 March on Washington by Dr. King.
Democrat President John F. Kennedy, had Dr. King wiretapped and investigated by the FBI.
Democrat President Bill Clintons mentor was U.S. Senator J. William Fulbright, an Arkansas Democrat and a supporter of racial segregation.
Southern Democrats opposed desegregation and integration.
I guess fighting to end slavery wasn't enough. So tell me again PowerStroker, how GOOD the Democrats are? Look's like this time around they are trying to enslave the entire nation, white, black, yellow or otherwise!
"Keep the change you filthy animal"!

I am aware that some of the very old history in the Democratic party isn't very flattering, which is why I added that caviat at the beginning of my challenge limiting this question to the last 10 years. Also you will need to list the legislation by name.
Please try again.

Oh trust me PowerStroker, that was a brief 5 minute study into your question. You can bet I will run this thread right up the Democrats ass.
Ill be sure to give it the 5 minutes each day the Democrats deserve and are worth. The other 23 Hours and 55 minutes will be spent basking in my Republican ideals.

I've been looking for a very long time and have been unable to find pro working class legislation passed by the Repbuclicans that the Dems fought in the last 10 years. You may want to consider giving this more than 5 minutes of your time. Otherwise we can just leave this for other members to:
This forum is filled with 238 members who ain't got the balls to talk politics. Hell 200 of them are here looking for free information and the other 38 are from the GOP and DNC watching us and using our thoughts as a bassis for their advertisements.
Check back tomorrow, you just might learn something.

My name is PowerStroker and I'm wondering if the Repbulicans did anything to help working class people in the last 10 years that the Dems fought against.
When I finish up this trans job ill dig you something up.
Considering you have not liked any of my answers the last 5 or so threads, it's not like I figured it mattered. I mean I am under the impression I could give you MORE proof, yet dismiss it and ask me to try again.
Fricking having to change the trans on my Mercedes. I been putting it off for awhile but unloaded the pimp ride and now it's gone priority. I am having to crawl the earth in a lowely 97 Ranger, althought it's neat to get 28 miles per gallon as I am used to 10-14 MPG. Also having to install some ball joints, and re-seal the gear box. I also have to wire a head unit, but you can read all about it in the W126 section.
With any luck I might be picking up a 560 SEC for (gasp) $500. If that happens it's a manditory road trip and gawd knows when I could be back.

So you agree that the Democrats are trying to enslave the entire nation?
I am glad we see eye to eye on this issue. I personally do not want to be a slave for my government. While it's one thing to tax for the greater good of ALL, it's entirely another to enslave for our political leaders to enjoy large incomes, Cadillac healthcare plans, and several long vacations thru the year.
I am glad you brought this issue to light PowerStroker! I should also mention that your request for America to turn a blind eye to anything that happend more than 12 years ago has been DENIED!

Oh, excuse me... I was under the impression that a political party should actually have to pass some pro working class legislation every decade or so if they are to be deserving of fans like you. You have been unable to provide me any such Republican legislation in the last ten years, but don't feel bad, I couldn't find any either. How about we extend it to 15 years then. Think you can find any pro working class Republican legislation in the last 15 years that meet the criteria?
So you agree that the Democrats are trying to enslave the entire nation?
Where did you get that idea?
I get that idea from all that I see the Democrats doing. For one FORCING AMERICANS TO BUY A SERVICE. Second, the "Give Act" which I feel is more of a "Take" act. It seems to me the Democrats would have us leading a life of their demands or paying fines and fee's for having an opinion otherwise. It's quite clear really.

You know PowerStroker, it's more an issue of my feelings that less government is a better government. If you look at it like that, then it should become clear that the Republicans not getting involved in personal business is actually a GOOD THING in my eyes. So your responce of "Please try again" is null, as I have no anwser to give and I rather like it that way. Less government is better government. Any tax payer should feel the same, even YOU!

I wasn't asking what issues the fat cat Republicans ignored in the last 15 years, or whether you view ignoring things as a genreally good thing. Nor did I ask if Reagan's phrase "The most frightening thing to hear is I'm from the government, and I'm here to help." is still echoing in your head, even though it has been proven wrong...
I was asking what issues they didn't ignore on behalf of working class people.
PowerStroker, I think it's safe to say if there were no private business, everything would be a government job. I do not want that kind of life. I know business can become corrupt, however they are NOTHING compared to a corrupt government. Power can really go to peoples heads.
It's clear to see that Business sides with Republicans because of the things they stand for. It is also safe to say that without business, there would be no jobs, only household chores to ensure basic survival.
I have said it before and I will say it again. Money = Control. That is the only purpose of Money. The idea that a paper note can represent whatever to whomever for any given reason means it's a capitalistic tool.

I wasn't asking your theories on capitalism, I was asking whether the Republicans passed any pro working class legislation in the last 10... I mean 15 years that the Democrats were opposed to.
I don't think you understood what I was trying to say...
Democrats are all for a free ride, at the cost of our freedom.
With regards to stirring the pot... Well I do a pretty good job of that even though I hold a possition. The hard part is allowing everyone their own opinions dispite the fact I don't have sponsors. The test would have come when someone made statements that you dis-agreed with, while having the power to strike it down.
Would you?

I often times wonder what kind of pro working class regulation the Democrats have passed with success in the past 10-15 years.
Define to me "Working Class", does that only include people working for private companies or does it also include people working for the government? See I honestly think this little thread is much to do about nothing. More Democratic propaganda.
I have been saving this one, but now I will drop the bomb...
REPUBLICANS in Arizona sought to pass sweeping immigration reform in an effort to make available more jobs for the working class Americans in that state. Unfortunately the Democrats and Obamafought that reform even thought it is TRUE that getting rid of MANY un-registered illegal aliens holding jobs would have opened up MANY new jobs for the WORKING CLASS both young and old, male, female, Republican or Democrat.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it PowerStroker. Is this an Air Jordan moment?
Yeah I know... Now it's time for you to deny-deny-deny... Nothing will ever be good enough for you until the whole nation is enslaved by big government.

Healthcare reform, Wall St. Reform, Student loan reform, payroll tax cuts, State Children's health insurance program, Small business loan guarantees, Auto bailouts (which saved the US auto industry and will actually make a profit for the taxpayers once the govt sells their shares). The stimulus package which kept thousands of police/firemen/teachers from being let go, the equal pay for equal work legislation which guarantees women are paid fairly. Increased safety regulations for oil companies to protect the livelyhoods of gulf fishermen. And on and on and on.
Define to me "Working Class", does that only include people working for private companies or does it also include people working for the government? See I honestly think this little thread is much to do about nothing. More Democratic propaganda.
Any middle class person who has to work for a living. No trust fund babies allowed. Private or public sector work - doesn't matter.
I have been saving this one, but now I will drop the bomb...

Actually that doesn't count because the Republicans didnt actually pass that legislation, they only "sought" to do so. And Democrats are actually in favor of comprehensive immigration reform too, just not the kind that the Republicans like that includes borrowing billions of dollars to deport every undocumented man woman and child in this country.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it PowerStroker. Is this an Air Jordan moment?
If you consider the Republicans pandering without actually accomplishing anything an Air Jordan moment, then yeah, I guess so. That picture doesn't look like Jordan though.
Sorry PowerStroker, but healthcare reform does not count. It was passed by a Democratic majority and will be gutted soon enough.. The others were "Nice trys" yet all fall short.
I am very sorry you have issues in that twisted Democratic mind of yours, but that is not my problem. You asked a question and I gave you the answer. Like I have said time and time again you will only deny-deny-deny.
Your parties plight is pathetic, much like this thread. The idea that you feel like you are entitled to some kind of "Pro" anything is another issue we can discuss at another time.
I understand Arizona is hard for you to swallow, but rest assured OBAMA and his Administration fought it. The ORIGINAL immigration law, you know the ones the Fed's were not enforcing was very much signed by a President. If you need the paticulars I suggest doing your own homework. Perhaps a visit to the library of congress may help you un-earth these paticulars but rest assured your question has been answered.
Better luck next time PowerStroker.

Your Arizona Law fails to meet one of the qualifiers of the challenge as stated in the first post of this thread. I clearly stated that NO social legislation is allowed, it must be something that ALL working class people enjoy. I would venture to say that some working class Hispanics do not enjoy the Arizona Law, even if they are legal, they are at risk of having family members deported. If that is your idea of Republican pro working class legislation I suggest you think again.
I'm looking for something like raising the minimum wage, or another piece of legislation that benefits ALL working class people, not just working class people of a specific race.
It also fails in another qualifying factor of the challenge, I stated it must be signed in to law by the president. The Arizona law is a STATE Law, not a Federal law, and thus no President ever signed it in to law, only the Governor of Arizona did.
I haven't changed the qualifying factors of this challenge, you can check the first post and see that it has not been edited. It is you who have failed to provide a qualifying example of pro working class legislation that the Republicans put forward, that was signed in to law by the President, that the Democrats were against in the last 15 years... I even extended the time frame, and all you have come up with so far is a racist state law. I would expect nothing less from you.
Don't feel bad Rex, I couldn't come up with any Republican pro working class legislation either. But I will keep this challenge open for any member in case they come up with something that meets the criteria.
And since there was no draft, it's safe to say everyone there applied for the job, or had been sucking from the government tit in the form of reserve pay.

Well, then that fails the caveat of benefiting ALL working class people. It also fails in that a majority of Dems supported the original Iraq war authorization... Granted they were lied to with phony intelligence stating that Saddam Hussein was the mastermind behind 911, but they supported it nonetheless.
I'm looking for legislation that isn't reactionary to some tragedy, just something where the Republicans out of the goodness of their hearts decided to give the working man or woman an easier time of making it in the world. Whether it be by raising the minimum wage, or something else that made life better for working class people. I hardly think a war fits the bill, especially since thousands of working class people died fighting it.
Maybe next time before you post something, you should review the qualifiers listed in the first post of this thread.
Please try again.

There were Democrats that voted NO on healthcare, there were Democrats that voted no on Wall St. reform, there were Democrats that voted NO on a great deal of these things you claim were "Good Ideas".
You are trying to cherry pick an answer, were as you do not want to accept VALID answers. Please remove your head from your ass long enough to see the light.
Amazing that all of the blame can be heaped on Republicans. Obama blames the Republicans because they will not drink the Koolaid that he is serving, Barnie Frank is in charge of the Fannie Mae Program that has cost us billions, Dodd was in charge of the banking system, Tim Geither did not pay his taxes, Charlie Rangel is in charge of the Ways and Means (does not pay hundreds of thousands in taxes) and it all of the Republicans fault? You Democrats are amazing. Take the rose colored glasses off and take a good look.
