Recently did some brake work on a 2000 Audi A8 4.2 Quattro the other day. I was impressed with the all wheel drive and the suspension however I must say the 4.2 liter engine reminds me a lot of the mid 1990's Mercedes engines and the build quality on the inside of the vehicle did not appear to be Mercedes with imitation wood and some poor door panel coverings.
All things considered it looked like a nice vehicle and run out well after finishing the brake work.
One thing that did catch my eye was the 5V logo on the engine. I am guessing this means it has 5 valves per cylinder and given the side of the cylinder heads I would imagine there is something extra special going on in there.
Getting parts for the Audi's seems to come down to the last 6 of the vin number, where as they have a little diffrent way of identifying production models.
