Apparently the bad economy isn't so bad in Chicago... At least at the Hyatt; where many workers decided to strike.
From what I read the strikers assembiled infront of the building where the management of the Hyatt turned on the winter time heat lamps and proceeded to cook the strikers in 90 degree weather!
Apparently the manager responsible for the decision is retiring today, and like all management who makes poor choices he will not be reprimanded.
At first I thought it was rather funny, but then it kind of reminded me of the days when they would pour hot tar on people. I myself would have just fired the strikers and found new workers. This kind of tactic instead makes the Hyatt look bad. Any company that would turn on winter time heat lamps in the middle of Summer in 90 degree weather is most certainly capable of under-paying their workforce. Hyatt charges a premium for their rooms, their staff should not be working for peanuts. If on the other hand the workers were getting greedy I think it would have looked better on the company just to fire them, rather than pour hot oil on them. I'd hate to be a guest in that hotel when these workers return to work.
I know... I know... If you can't take a joke; #uck you then.
