Customer of mine gave me a "Yellow Bee" remote control plane for the kids.
The thing was a battery powered twin engine plane, and the kids put the thing together in like 20 minutes with no help from me.
Anyway, after a few days I could not take any more of them bugging me about wanting to fly it, so I told them let's take it for a small test flight across the street at the bank... After all how fast and hard to fly could this battery operated plane be anyway?
Famous last words! I hit the throttle on this sucker and it took off like a bat out of hell! Damn thing got airborne in about 3 seconds flat! Before you know it I was doing loopty loops and clipping the sky at high rates of speeds. Truth be told I wasn't really in control and it was everything I had to keep the fucker within eye sight. Then it happened! I lost control and it got out of eye sight! It was last seen heading due West towards Chicago! LOL
The kids were crushed, and I think it went down in the subdivision to the North so we all piled up in the car and went looking for it. We come up on some dude walking with his kid and I pulled over and without even thinking I asked him "Did you see a plane go down around here?" The guy hunched down and looked around and said "A plane just crashed around here". LOL I realized I might have said that wrong and corrected myself by saying "No, a little RC plane!", relived he laughed and said "No I havent" as he was laughing too.
So I go up and down this neighboorhood almost looking like I am casing the joint, looking in trees and the gaps between the houses in peoples back yards. No luck, the yellow bee had gotten away.
My kid said "Dad we should have put our name and phone number on the wing!", I said "Yeah that would have been a good idea" all the while thinking in the back of my head "Thank god I didnt put our name and phone number on it because it's probably smashed thru someones window" LOL
Anyway, all things told, even after we spend hours looking for it the kids said "Dad, even though we lost the yellow bee that was cool as heck!"
I started to feel bad and wondered how expensive a plane like that would be to replace. Since a customer gave it to me I had no idea. I took to the internet to find another one and found one on Amazon for $150, but after looking at the box I realized that the Yellow Bee's are made exclusively for Harbor Freight! Come to find out you can buy the damn thing for $40! LOL! Here I thought I might have crashed an expensive plane. I felt much better at this point.
So, if you are looking for a cool gift for the kids, this yellow bee really rocks for $40, just be sure to fly it in a park! LOL
I still wonder to this day if the yellow bee is somewhere out there aimlessly caught in a jet stream! Perhaps it's in Iran by now and they think it's one of our top secret drones! LOL!

Feeling bad that I had misplaced my kids other "Yellow Bee" and seizing on the "Christmas" idea in Stoma's drivel, I got the kids a pair of "Yellow Bees" for Christmas.
I don't know... Maybe it was a little too windy... Maybe the park was just too small...
BUT! At least I didn't lose it this time! LOL! I guess ole' Dad isn't the best pilot. Looks like a little duct tape will fix 'er right?
As stocking stuffers I also got the kids rockets... Which they put together all by themselves and launched.
