Well as the title said I finally made it thru the application process of the Obamacare website also known as www.healthcare.gov!
What a joke that site is... For starters every single option you select takes exactly 15 seconds to respond. This is true if you are just answering a "Yes" or "No" question. Its rather frustrating but my feelings were at least the site did not totally freeze up and crash.
Another tell tale sign the site is no where near professional is the fact that it does not display or use middle names. Sure you can enter a middle name but its considered "optional" and thus will not be displayed while you are filling out the rest of the application. This may not be a problem to most, but in my household there is more than one person with my first and last name, but we have different middle names. In this case it often made the application very confusing not knowing if I was answering for myself or my son.
The second major issue I noticed was that when trying to go back and add current insurance information I had to totally start over! Word to the wise, dont try and modify the additional information area otherwise you can count on having to re-fill almost the entire application! And thats waiting 15 seconds for each and every one of them questions, regardless if its a yes or no. Total time spent = over 1.5 hours!
I was also very unhappy about the fact that when I selected to have my application "Print" (for my records) it was all out of whack and pretty much printed several lines on top of one another and the format was so far off you could not even understand it! Mind you I print shipping labels and court documents regularly without issue. The only thing that printed out okay was the form for eligibility which was in Adobe format.
Speaking of eligibility, it would appear that an adult such as myself, married with three dependants, making $23,000 per year DOES NOT qualify for ANY assistance! Furthermore the site goes on to say that even though I am considered to be "qualified" for assistance the state of Michigan has chosen not to offer you this new health coverage at this time! LOL! WTF!? I thought it was the "Law of the land"!?
The only good thing about this is the fact it also says "You are not required to pay a penalty for not having health insurance because of your income and because the state of MI declined to expand Medicade to cover individuals in your situation".
So It would seem that Obama care is NOT all its cracked up to be, and a guy making $23K per year with a family of four does not qualify for assistance in any way shape or form. While it would have been nice to get some coverage I think its total bullshit that the Democrats keep saying this healthcare plan is the next best thing to sliced bread because it isnt! Perhaps if I was Black or Hispanic I might have been considered for assistance? I cant say for sure because Im white and I dont lie on applications but it sure seems strange that a guy with 3 dependants making only $23K per year cant even get some assistance with insurance. So it would seem for a guy in my situation Id have to pay FULL PRICE for insurance which may well cost me more than half my annual income! At that cost Ill be more than sick, Ill be out on the street because things are tight enough as is!
So someone PLEASE tell me what good Obama care is? My wife and I will remain uninsured, with absolutely nothing to have gained from Obama care but increased cost for a private policy should we ever seek out insurance!
So PowerStroker! What have you got to say for yourself and Obama care now?
HERE IS THE PROOF!
Here is my copy of the application. Good luck trying to read it.
Proof I completed the Obama care website.
Results of my application with a family of FOUR (4) on a $23,000 per year income.
Very sad... And Democrats say they are helping people get insurance? Yet I noticed during the application it asked if you were filling out the application on your "Own" or part of the "Navigator" program. There was a few other ones too... I guess these were just thinly veiled questions asking ones political affiliation. Given the fact I selected "Own" that must have meant Republican, thus no insurance for me. Had I got ACORN... errrr... I mean the Navigator team to fill mine out would that have changed things? I am guessing so, since ACORN has been known to seek out voters from beyond the grave, so what's a little mojo in getting someone health insurance right?
What a jip! What a bunch of lying ass bastards! Thanks for nothing, and that comes from the whole family! Go ahead, find someone to blame... It's Bush's fault right!?

A big part of Obamacare was a ton of federal funding to states to expand their Medicaid programs. States could choose to accept that federal money or not. Michigan chose not to because Governor Rick Snyder cares more about being anti-Obama, than helping his citizens.
I'm sorry about that Rex, I truly am. With any luck, your current governor will be given the boot next time around, and then the next one will accept the federal money and allow for a subsidy that will help your family. In the meantime, you don't have to pay any penalty for not having insurance, so at the very least you may take solace that while the Affordable Care Act may not be helping you right now, at least it isn't harming you.
I voted yes to your survey by the way, and If Obama ever visits this page, I'm sure he'd vote the same way.

Thanks PowerStroker, I just thought you should be aware is all. Most of the frustration in my prior posting stems from the usual bureaucracy of spending an hour and a half filling out forms (under threat of a fine no less) only to find out it was a total waste of time. My experience with Obama care is quite different than what I see Obama pitching day to day.
Out of fairness I gave the healthcare.gov website an honest to goodness try. Entered in all the requested information honestly and accurately only to be told "The law of the land" isnt quite "The law of the land". Apparently like most all other things there are caveats to it.
While you are 100% correct Michigan does have a Republican Governor by the name of Rick Snyder you should also know Medicaid has never been available (to my knowledge) for low income adults (barring injury, age or some other form of hardship). This was even true the entire time a Democrat was the Governor. You should know Michigan has an excellent program for kids, they call it MIChild and its one of the best insurance plans I have EVER seen. To me this seems fair, as I really was not expecting to get something for nothing in the ways of insurance prior to filling out the application. In fact the only reason I am upset is because Obama (and his Democrats) have been saying how great the ACA (Obama care) is, and how much it will help lower income families. I have PROVEN without a shadow of a doubt that this is not true.
Meanwhile I cant help but to feel like other people, such as minorities, will get subsidies that are not being afforded to me because I am white. If it works for the minorities I damn well better start playing the same game otherwise this could get out of hand. I just dont understand how people could be anything but outraged by the claims made and the actual product that is being offered.
The main reason I went on the Obama care website was to see what all the hype was about. Given the fact I have been complaining about Obama Care since it was rammed thru congress I felt obligated to at the very least to try it. In the end I got what I expected, which amounted to nothing but a government shakedown of the family and a complete waste of time and resources.
Last night was a Friday night, and when you make $23K per year with a family of 4 anything is entertainment! LOL, the entire family had a good laugh last night and we never even left the house! Better than cable TV! It was real live action, even if delayed for 15 seconds a pop! LOL!
I want to express to you PowerStroker, the entire familys gratitude for such a well designed and functional product brought to us by the generous hands of bright Democrat minds such as yourself. The very idea we would not be TAXED err. I mean FINED for not buying something we could not afford is a load off all our minds! We can sleep easy now, knowing we have this Obama care hall pass that protects us from being taxed for being poor. LOL!
No, seriously PowerStroker I am truly sorry for you, having to put your good name and stamp of approval on this otherwise farce of a program/law. Knowing how anal compulsive you are I'll smile all day knowing its slowly eating away at ya!
