I'm speaking of the beheading videos of Foley and Sotloff..
While my respect goes to the families for their loss, I can't help but to feel these two men (photographers) would be rolling in their graves as it pertains to the almost certain censorship of their beheading videos, and you can't tell me these videos aren't being censored, at least here in the United States.
While it's not something I want to see, I still feel we have the right to see them, in full and without censorship. Sure, it's a very morbid situation, but in these times of electronic communication it's almost a no brainer that censorship as it pertains to these videos could eventually trickle down to censorship on so many other levels. Letting google buy YouTube has pretty much put an end to people hosting videos on their own. What does that mean for Americans? That anything serious as this will be censored from our viewing to protect us? Well who was protecting Foley and Sotloff? Were they not photographers taking photos in war torn areas? How do you think they would feel about this censorship? After all they had to go thru this barbaric act! I'm almost positive they would want people to know just how serious it is.
What do you guys think? Do you feel censorship is okay if the content is gruesome? Do you feel censorship is okay if it keeps Americans from rightly feeling outraged?

I for one would not want to see some-one losing their life, especially in that way. I only need to know what happned, & don't need to see it, & I'm sure even your boys wouldn't want to watch it...

I'd agree that kids under 18 shouldn't be seeing such things, naturally.
However that's about the only restriction I'd support, unless of course I was to die. In that case, yes, I'd want my kids to see, if they felt the need; for the sake of closure.
Respect and the appearance of decency is bullshit. It's a cruel world, make no mistake about it! I'll be damned if I agree to censorship regardless of the situation. Meanwhile, with regards to the beheadings; it only serves to take away our freedoms and anyone looking to verify these videos is stuck connecting to some middle Eastern website to view it.
I did see the first video, which looked fake to me. No blood, except for the last still photo. The second video is pretty much scrubbed from the internet, as in I couldn't find anything. So yeah, the powers that be want me to support war and more death, yet we can't verify these actions that are no doubt designed to incite war?
