Why Unions only hurt the nation, and the people that are forced to join and pay for them!

It's quite clear to see that Unions are the main problem today as it pertains to government. We have a group that claims to be helping it's constituants by taking union dues, and in essence using said money to finance political advertisements -- almost exclusively Democratic!

These low information workers who join these unions, often times without any choice -- are forced to support Democrats regardless of how THEY may actually feel, because their union dues are going to be spent on political advertiesements weather they support the Democrat candidate or not. Regadless if they know in the back of their minds that a certian candidate is not worthy of the job, they are forced to tow the party line or face what many claim to be workplace intimidation. It's a sad - sad position to be in, and often times these people have limited skills in anything outside of their very limited job. Ask one to think for themselves and they will likley flip out and forward you to their union rep.

It's very sad, and on one hand I feel sorry for these folks, but on the other hand I realize they are handicapped and unable to think for themselves. They simply feel trapped and fear for their jobs! After all if any of these union types were able to think for themselves or have an opinon of their own, they sure as hell wouldnt be working in a factory -- or paying some union money to support political advertisements rather than improving their working conditions. It's just very, very sad.. And I wish I didn't have to argue with these people knowing in the back of my mind that they are simpily affraid to be critical of the union because their jobs are being held over their head, not by their employers but rather the unions they belong.

I hope one day these people will be able to step back and realize that it is the unions that are supposed to be working for them, and not the other way around. I hope one day they will realize that it is not private companies who are dumping money into politicals campaigns, rather it's their unions! It seems quite obvious that by the time unions get done dumping all kinds of money into political campaigns, and then the companies they work for trying to match campaings who are in opposition, that at the end of the day it is THEY who are getting screwed. They are the ones that lose, as they blindly support whoever their union masters tell them to. It's a great big scam on the American people as many of these union members would have exactly the same rights without a union as they do with a union. Unemployment, heath care, worker saftey and everything the Union claims to offer for their members is available to them even if they didn't belong to a union. It's a false sence of security for them, and with the amount of money they all pay in dues they could collectively hire the best of lawyers and build impressive buildings they could ALL enjoy, rather than just the Union top dogs.

I guess perhaps there is a very real need for Unions, but the unions of today are nothing like the unions of days past. Under the current administration more unions have been busted up than at any other time in history! Yet these members who are paying dues simpily can't see it, if only because while they are working hard and supporting themselves and their families, the unions are secretly working behind the curtains to ensure they never get in a position to be free of union membership -- even into retirement these long time union members are finding that all the money they spent was wasted, and often times are having to take less than what they were told simpily because the unions get together with the companies, and stick it to em! Hell, in some cases the unions actually take an ownership share in the company, which anyone with even half a brain would know is a total conflict of interest, not for the Union of course, but for the dues paying members!

It's just the way it is I guess... And these people have a right to their own ideas of what is good for them, even if it isnt. The unions take on it must be something alongs the lines of "There is a sucker born every minute"!

Careful what you say. I'm a Teamster, and well trained in making concrete swimming shoes.

There are extremes to both sides of this argument, & both are valid !

If I wasn't in my Union, I wouldn't be working, so I'm glad to be part of the establishment !...However...My Union also sends me news-letters every-so-often, & it appears that most of the day-to-day political arguments being presented are nothing more than disputes being created to keep these same people in jobs to justify their positions, just like our government officials...

These news-letters make me angry & take-up too much of my time, so they go un-opened from my mail-box & into the re-cycling bin. ( If the paper was soft enough, I'd use it in the can LOL ).

Just like women, you "can't live with them, & you can't live without them" !

Cheers,

Rastus

I'm sure there are extremes to every argument. At the core of mine -- I'm just sticking up for friends and family who much like you -- seem to think the Union is the reason they have a job. I guess you could say this is somewhat true -- but really it's your employer that has given you a job, but you have surrendered to your Union, all of your bargaining.

Im not being paid to represent Union workers -- yet I have a vested interest in what unions are doing regarding political matters. That being said -- I blame unions for pressuring otherwise intelligent people to vote for and support Democrats.

Take for example the new Dodge Hellcat (I did a little write up about it). Here we have a once was American car company -- sold to Dailmer Benz before the bail out -- then Fiat after. The Hellcat has its engine made in Mexico and the rest is put together in Canada. We have NAFTA, Bill Clinton and Democrats to thank for this -- but it was Unions that brainwashed their constituents to vote overwhelmingly Democrat!?

How about GM? And the bankruptcy that saw many retirees and workers take losses? And how about Detroit? Was the auto capital of the world not too big to fail?

So from my perspective -- as someone who does not belong to a Union outside of being a proud citizen of the U.S.A. -- it just seems to me Unions are taking their constituents to the cleaners! Not only in dues charged -- but also by influence; sometimes by intimidation!

Im sure many Union members, deep down -- would agree with me.. But would never admit such a thing for fear of what Unoon retaliation. Not to mention most Union guys are proud -- hardworking professionals in their trade that would never out their own team -- even if it meant having to take one for the team.

I'm here for team USA to say quit voting for these idiot Democrats! Look what they have done to THIS nation! There were no credit downgrades when we were kicking the snot out of Iraq -- people were able to take out loans and Bush left Democrats with mad cash and bail outs to ensure the new administration could weather the war! What happend? It was squandered and wasted -- not used wisely and poorly distributed!

Obamacare - almost a trillion dollars for this!? And for what? $10,000 deductibles for emergency service? Not ONE Republican approved of this!

Foreign policy disasters! One after another after another! And now - for the first times since Ebola was discoverd in the 1970's it has found its way to the United States!

Banks aren't lending! Period! Unless it's for a car anyway.. All these great deals on homes? Not for Americans! Just for wealthy out out country cash buyers! Many banks fail stress test -- but are too big to fail? Well if banks aren't lending then it's obvious they have already failed us. So why keep pumping them money? Propping up the stock market so you "think" your 401k is rocking -- only to have a correction in the market take it all away!

Who was it that put social security payments into the general ledger? Well it depends who you ask.. But the fact is -- the Johnson Administation in 1969 created the unified budget that just happened to see a General ledger full of Social Security funds -- being spent on things other than social security. Meanwhile the age to retire with full benefits keeps going up! Why? They say it's because we're expected to live longer -- because the standard of living has gone up! What standard of living gets better by making you work longer before you can retire!?

I could go on and on.. But if I'm wrong -- please explain how!?

My folks are in their early 70's & are still working....My mom does at least 20 hrs per week, & my dad at least 40 I'd guess...He has no week-ends, but gets usually one day through the week off...(I can't say I blame him though, spending all-day everyday with my mom would send him to an early grave )...
