Just learned my $900 iPhone 6+ has had a defective camera since the day I got it! The worst part is that I had to find out from someone other than Apple themselves! All this time I thought maybe my lens was dirty, or my hand wasn't still enough -- only to find out it's a known problem that Apple has been keeping it secret!
I have really been disappointed with Apple lately. Seems bug laden and I've had to update my iOS almost every single month since I got it.
Back that up with poor, arrogant service and I'm starting to look a lot closer at Windows again... Especially after having had the pleasure of using / upgrading to the new Windows 10.
Anyway, use this link if you got an early iPhone 6+ to find out if yours is on the defective batch. I told them I wanted a refund or a new phone but they insist that they want to take it apart and just replace the camera. I'm seriously considering other options - you might want to as well.
How cheeky is that ! So what are you supposed to in the meantime when you send it away to get a new camera ?...
Here in Oz, most "gas-stations" are selling cheap & nasty "cell-phones" for around $15:00. These might keep you going until it returns. Make sure that all the postage & handling is their cost too.
Cheers,
Rastus

There would be much less stress, financial burden, & time needed if you just grab that $10:00 phone from the gas-station, & just let Apple fix your camera under warranty....
You can give them all the bad-press you want here !!!
It's not giving in, it's saving your sanity & hard-earned-dollars... Apple didn't get successful by being decent, honest, honorable people. They screwed their fair-share of folks over the years no doubt.
Good luck with however way you choose to go, but it's "only" a dud camera my friend. And the unit itself, if it's already 2-years old, may have already lived over 1/2 it's life, or be soon out-date technology wise anyhow.
Cheers,
Rastus

Did I mention it only cost $900? And was supposed to have a superior camera to the regular 6.
I don't see how I have any other recourse.
You sayn I can't go toe to toe with Apple lawyers? lol Or that I got better things to do? I honestly think I would file suit in the local court. I'm sure they miss me down there.

You do make me laugh !!! All I'm suggesting, is that for $10:00, you can grab yourself a new phone to use, whilst Apple fix your camera, that's all !...
I also think that you'd maybe not have too much to sue Apple with, especially if they've offered you a warranty claim. If the person behind the sales desk is giving you a hard time, that's a different matter all together...And you probably want to film &/or record your next conversation with them too...
I certainly wouldn't want to challenge you in a court-of-law LOL !

I have been strictly on an email only line of communication with Apple for the past two days. I have filed my complaint with the Michigan AG and I really don't understand why you feel it's okay for Apple to "repair" an iPhone the day after it was purchased new? Because the defect has been since day one I'd have taken it up with them sooner, but they have been keeping it hush-hush.
I feel that Apple should be sending me a "brand new" replacement device. From that point I return my device to them, they fix it and then they can sell it to someone else as refurbished. Keep in mind, I purchased a "new" phone, not a "refurbished" phone. The amount of a refurbished phone is $300 less than that of a brand new one. Why should I take that $300 loss?
If Apple had come out about this issue early on people would have demanded a new phone. Who in their right mind would buy a phone and then agree to have it repaired the day after? Hell no, people would demand a new replacement!
Another point to consider here is this, since Apple isnt taking care of me on my last "new" iPhone purchase (The 6 Plus) last year, do you think I am going to wait in line to buy their 6S Plus this year?

Oh, and by the way Rastus... I wouldnt need to purchase another phone as I have a backup 5c and a backup flip phone with Trac. Both could be activated but I'd feel pretty stilly to be paying for a $900 phone each month to be running around with a Trac phone! LOL

I see your points much more clearly now, so fair enough, do what you must...Maybe a court-of-law is the best place for closure on this matter.
What will you say to the judge if he asks you when did the camera stop working ? And why has it taken you so long to get something repaired that you didn't even use ?
I'd say at best that he might push for the repair, though who knows, maybe he'll agree & think a new phone is the only right way to settle. At the end-of-the-day however, when a warranty claim has been offered, I'd guess he'd see that as a fair settlement. The fact that you didn't pay for the phone out-right at the time-of-purchase is a benefit given to you from the lender, & has nothing to do with the fault or claim.
I agree that Apple needs to improve their quality control before putting stuff out-on-the-market, but this faulty camera hasn't stopped you earning an income, so I think it would be hard to squeeze money out of Apple, if you can't prove any losses of income from the camera not working...
Cheers & good luck,
Rastus

I'm not sure to whom that question is raised at, but I'm a minimalist...The most modern piece of multitasking equipment I have is my old Toshiba lap-top...And as for my phone, it's an old Nokia 2600, that I recently received a message from my service provider stating that after December 2016, they can't provide the 3G signal that it needs to operate with, whether the phone still works or not LOL.
Maybe you could take these companies to court suggesting that the General Public are being forced to upgrade their products before they've worn them out, forcing them to spend more money, just to keep up with modern trends...
Surely that's a HUGE marketing scam !!! Maybe even your i6-phone's useful-life will expire at the end of next year....
Cheers,
Rastus

You just bought that "old" laptop a year ago. My desktop is 2000 model year P4 2ghz with XP, probably many years older than your phone. Don't think you're the only minimalist..
I've explained clearly that I was investing in what I considered to be starts of the art cell phone and a mass storage cloud drive to handle all my needs. Yes, I was horribly let down by Apple, in many more ways than just this silly iSight camera BS. So yeah, I'm good and pissed off and I feel like it's the straw that broke the camels back. I've been a loyal customer and it's just a kick in the ass!

No doubt you've been conned, ( as with millions of others ) & I personally hope you do get a new phone ! I'd guess that Apple have you counted as a person who's lined-up to grab the next generation of these things, as they have a good bet on knowing how many hours of usage you can get out of one, before it stops working permanently. But they sure made a BIG mistake in showing you how you'll get treated when it's time to get something fixed LOL ! In fact, they've lost a few more customers with your family included too...
Yes, I'm being hard on on my Lap-top, but I think it's closer to being 2-years old now...And that usually means living on borrowed time LOL. But it has "i3" architecture, & that I think already meant it was well out-dated the day I bought it, with "i7" being the "standard" even back then...But I had a budget to stick to, & I'm not really savvy with these things, so as long as it worked at least as well or better than what I had before it, I was contented, & for the most part it's been fine. Who knows, it may last out quite a while yet !
Interestingly, I nearly bought another version of ( what I though was ) the same computer a short while ago, as the price was all of $300:00 brand new, only to discover that the latest Lap-Tops DO NOT come with DVD facilities, & hence the cheap price. So no burning or watching of DVD's on the new-breed of Lap-Top computers folks !
The Nokia 2600 is still going strong after 8-years LOL ! And it was the phone that revealed to me through its folders, that everything communicated through these devices goes through a number of US-of-A data-bases, as there's about 20+"Certificates" that expire at the end of next year...This is why my phone won't communicate at the end of next year, even if it still turns on & off LOL. (The camera still works fine too)....So Uncle Sam has been listening-in on me ( & everyone else too ) for a number of years !
I wonder what options you have with your "i"-phone, when it finally does take a permanent sh** ?...As it was the cloud-technology idea along with stream-lining your whole computer needs that made you go for it in the first place ! I'm actually really surprised that you haven't cracked the screen on it yet either to be really honest ! Every 2nd-one I've ever seen has had its screen cracked...
Cheers,
Rastus

What bothers me a lot is the fact the media isn't covering this. Its a big deal effecting a lot of customers but I'd imagine these same media companies stand to make a good profit on advertising the new model. Why would they rock the boat?
Still, it is what it is and I still have my original iPhone 3 and it still works just fine. They can still be used as phones but sadly they can no longer be updated due to the fact the newer software won't run on them.
I think once you upgrade your computers to Windows 10 you'll notice they run much better. My kid says he has noticed quite a difference for the better since his upgrade from 8.1 to 10 last week.
I don't feel I'm being difficult by asking for a new device, but perhaps since I own one my feelings are a little more passionate about the most fair way to handle it than someone that doesn't.
Oh well.. Already Apple is saving me money. And a local court case won't really be a long drive, just 5 minutes down the road if it comes to that. Keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't.

Just wanted to let everyone know that while I'm still battling it out with Apple, AT&T has already made me whole in the event Apple can't live up to their obligation.
That's one of the reasons I've stayed with AT&T all these years... This in no way lets Apple off the hook, but it just felt really good when AT&T went the extra mile!
Thank you AT&T! And as far as Apple goes, they better look out!
So, once again AT&T bailed out Apple once more.

Are you saying that AT&T have given you a NEW i-phone ? Or that they will give you one should you lose to Apple in the court-case ?
It's nice to have back-up like that, that's for sure !
Cheers,
Rastus

No, they simply gave me the difference between a new and a refurbished phone as a credit -- just in case I ended up having to get it repaired. Obviously once Apple does repair it, it's a refurbished phone. Even if they don't, it still has the serial number of a known defect and recall.
If there is one thing I've learned in the courts it's that you want to mitigate your losses directly with the person or people involved the best you can before filing suit. Ulrimatly it's best to settle somehow, but at least if you do sue, you've gotten all you can get before the long drawn out process known as litigation. I hope it doesn't come to that, but at least I can rest knowing that whatever happens I'm not out the loss in value as a result of a factory defect. I'm still stuck with a years worth of photos that could have been better - but that's something that can't be fixed.
One thing is for sure, if I do decide to get a new iPhone on the 25th, I'll be standing in line at AT&T and not Apple!

Good for you SELLC ! I do hope that you get a new i-phone from Apple though, as that's what you're entitled to !!!
I still don't quite understand how or why your service-provider has "put-up-the-dough" for your trouble, but that's a perk that yours & yours alone. Good on AT&T !
All my service provider has ever given me ( today actually & hence the post ) was the opportunity to book in advance for tickets to see "BLACK SABBATH" next April, but the ****ers won't let me even register on their website so that I can take up the offer LOL !!! It doesn't mater too much though, with the exchange rate the way it is at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised if a "regular" seat cost over $500:00 LOL ! ( This means I'd rather by the DVD of the gig for $10:00 & have it with Ozzies voice auto-tuned too LOL ) !!!
Cheers,
Rastus

Apple is resisting... The company is really going down the tubes..
The latest iOS 9 upgrade has done nothing but mess up the entire fleet of iPhones in the family. It's gotten to a point where my kids wont even upgrade because they know Apple is a worthless waste of time. The only problem is not upgrading all of your iPhones at the same time causes problems too!
I have learned my lesson as it pertains to Apple. They have simply been reduced to a cell phone and nothing more. I don't rely on Apple anymore and I really doubt I would buy another Apple product. The only reason I haven't traded them all in for another brand is because of iTunes.
Beware of Apple folks... It's rotten to the core!
