I didn't expect to see a response like that from PowerStroker. Very decent of you I thought, especially since "Biff" is now empowered LOL !
Maybe some-one can jump into a time-machine & get that almanac back.....
Cheers,

I didn't stay up all night. Once Iowa was called for Trump, and it looked like there wasn't going to be enough vote in the population centers of Florida, Michigan, and Wisconsin to quash the rural vote in those states I called it a night. The pink champagne I was planning to drink when Hillary hit the 270 electoral votes is still in the fridge. I'm really in a state of disbelief and numbness, but I figured I'd at least try to take the high road by saying congratulations.
I know that you guys are anti- Hillary for various reasons. Rastus because she is probably a member of the Bilderberg society. And Rex because you've been fed 20 years worth of anti-Hillary propaganda and believe most of it. And Stoma because... Well, I'm not really sure. But the fact is I'm disappointed because a lot of political capital and sacrifice was spent by Obama to accomplish a few things, that are now in jeopardy of being undone quite quickly.
Dodd Frank will probably be repealed which will allow the big banks to begin reckless gambling again and lead us and the world toward another great depression.
The Affordable Care Act is high on the list of things Republicans hate for various reasons. But repealing it will cause some un-forseen problems that aren't ever thought about by those people that hate it so much... As flawed as it may be, and as unpopular due to rising out of pocket expenses, it is actually reducing the governments costs which is what it was designed to do, since prior to Obamacare, healthcare costs were quickly becoming the single most expensive thing for the government, and on track to exceed defense and debt interest. Not only did Obamacare bend the government's healthcare cost curve significantly toward more sustainable levels, it also provided affordable healthcare to 20,000,000 people who had previously been using the very expensive emergency rooms in safety net hospitals as their only means to receive care, and at taxpayer expense I may add. It also eliminated the ability for insurance companies to drop people for having pre-existing conditions. That single provision solved a huge problem, because prior to Obamacare, the single largest cause of bankruptcies in this country was due to medical expenses of people who were dropped by their insurance companies. To repeal Obamacare would not only cost a bunch of money to do, but the result would be to explode our debt even worse, and dramatically increase the number of bankruptcies again.
The Supreme Court will be stacked with people who value the rights of corporations above the rights of citizens, and will likely repeal Roe v Wade which will make it very difficult for a woman to get a safe and legal abortion. Returning us to a time when it was done in back alleys with wire coat hangers, often resulting in the death of the woman.
The executive orders for carbon emissions will be repealed, allowing for cheaper, but much much dirtier energy production. Honestly I'd rather have a well-intentioned Bilderberg member who cares about the planet for future generations, than someone who isn't a member of such a society and doesn't care about anyone but himself.
We will probably get ourselves in to another war of some kind because Republicans like to use the department of defense instead of the department of state whenever we have a pissing match with someone else in the world. People know this, and the recent purchase of defense company stocks after Trump's victory just pushed the DJI to a record high. Nothing like a little war profiteering to pad one's bank book eh?
I will say one good thing about Trump though. Despite his bigotry, he did at least campaign as a populist. I hope he does re-negotiate some of the bad trade deals that have been so terrible for working class people. I hope he does stop the new one that Obama was actually in favor of. Actually I think specific issue is where Democrats have lost their way and cost us the rust belt states and the election this time around. Things like NAFTA and GATT that were bi-partisan, really shouldn't have had the Democratic support that they did. It seems to me that some within my party were misguided by a belief that free trade would always just provide more customers for American products, when in actuality it made American workers have to compete with low cost foreign labor.
Trump says he wants to unite the country. I hope he means it, but to do so would require pushing for some legislation that is more mainstream than the things I listed above. Things like infrastructure investment would be fine (less any massive border wall). Putting moderates on the court would be seen as an olive branch that is very much needed about now. If he nominates another Antonin Scalia for the court, then I'll know real quick the kind of President he will be, and the division will only get worse.
Dodd Frank really is a worthless piece of legislation that prevents people from getting loans and only adds unnecessary time to the closing. I'd argue that it needs to go as it really doesn't do much to protect the consumer, rather the government and the lender. Try filing a complaint at the CFPB, and you'll either be forwarded to the NCUA or the FDIC who will always side with the lender because they know doing otherwise means they have to pay out.
Obamacare, well we all knew this was a hodgepodge load of $hit from the moment it got forced down our throats. It's not really doing much to lower insurance cost and Trump is absolutely right when he says you almost need to be hit by a bus to be able to see any benefits get paid - and even then I wouldn't want to find out considering my Dentist won't even take the subsidized insurance they gave us, we have had to pay cash because the insurance is simply not paying enough to the Dr's. I'd quit filling out the forms for it but honestly I don't want to be stuck paying a fine for not accepting it. It's a totally fu@ked system that does nothing to address the cost because a $15,000 family deductible on an insurance plan is not insurance! Why can't everyone buy good insurance? Why do you have to be part of a Union or work for a big company!? Because they want to have that control. Trump knows he's not going to get another 4 years unless he fixes this mess.
The Supreme Court was turning into a liberal mess, you can't deny it PowerStroker! When people don't even know which bathroom to use anymore it becomes clear that such lunacy has reached an unprecedented level. Roe vs. Wade is another ruling that has become more of a symbolic talking point and is mentioned way too often within the legal community. What I am trying to say is that Roe vs. Wade seems to work itself into just about every court pleading or at minimum in conversation too often. It gets used in cases where a woman's rights to an abortion aren't even the complaint! I doubt anyone in the legal community will overturn it though, because they seem to like saying it so much. Take for example, these most recent riots over the election... They try and claim they are peaceful protest but they are blocking traffic, causing innocent people stressful delays and dangerous environments as they burn and destroy everything in their path! All in the name of their selfishness to the point that you can't even call it a protest because the underlying cause isn't even monumental. Just like Roe vs. Wade, the protest has become watered down, diluted by people who want to use the phrase for their own personal agenda, rather than genuine civil rights and humanitarian crisis situations. It's quite pathetic, really!
I agree carbon emissions should be curbed, if only to keep the air safer for people to breathe. But I don't think nations imposing taxes for other people to get rich off something is the proper way to deal with carbon emissions. I have a serious problem with these summits for climate change being held with all of it participating members flying in on jets and thinking of grand ways of getting rich by taxing us by the mile, or by how much a dairy farmers cows fart. The insanity has gotten to the point where it's all about making money off climate change and very little to do with actually changing anything. We still have a certain nuclear plant in Japan pumping countless tons of radioactive waste into the Pacific ocean! I don't see anyone getting together trying to fix this problem we know is on-going and something that really could be fixed now, wouldn't cleaning up that nuclear mess net more instant results than some pie in the sky carbon tax that does nothing to curb carbon emissions but assign a dollar value?
Trump can't unite the country! From what I have seen there is no uniting the country! Minorities are still going to feel shortchanged and the people who are paying for their welfare will feel the same. It isn't hard to see that we are being taken advantage of and the current administration isn't doing anything about it but give them more! It's hard to say how much damage has been done over the past 8 years, but I can tell you it was a miserable 7 years and didn't start turning around until Trump started running for President last Christmas! Trump really ripped the lid off Christmas that had been sealed up since Obama took office. I can recall a time there in the beginning years of Obamas term that it was almost considered offensive to wish someone a Merry Christmas, or even make any public mention of the word Christmas! That's a SERIOUS PROBLEM in a country that is a majority Christian.
Then allowing homosexuals to marry, diluting the sanctity of marriage for heterosexual couples who procreate to keep life going on this planet.
No PowerStroker, we might as well call Obamas term the lost decade.
