You can't make this stuff up folks!
And yes, I donated an entire day to the recount efforts on December 6th, which was the first day for the Wayne county re-count.
The entire county of Wayne got started on Tuesday, since it's the largest county in Michigan. We literally go no notice, as the liberal Judge who ordered the recount at almost midnight on Sunday. Some districts got counting on Monday, but I was there for the first day of the count for Wayne county on Tuesday. They booked up a spot at Cobo, Downtown Detroit.
It took a group of 4 or five people 8 hours to hand recount 1400 ballots. There were two counters and two inspectors. Word around the tables were that some counters were being paid $20 per hour. Many boxes came in overstuffed and were deemed "uncountable", thus reverting back to the certified count prior to the re-count. Hardly any votes for Stein in any of the boxes, and after awhile you started to wonder how someone with only 1% of the vote could be ordering such a massive endeavor. Figure, based on the $20 per hours quote people were claiming to have been paid, and the lunch, parking, gas - ect, I blew about $205 of my money. In the end it feels good because we got to win TWICE! LOL
I honestly don't see how the election could be hacked here in Michigan since at least in Wayne county, we have a paper backup. When you do a re-count, which is nearly historic in Michigan, the ballots in the box have to match the number of registered voters on the ticker tape. If it is over or under the entire district gets kicked and it goes off the certified ticker tape. If the ballots match the number of voters you have to go thru and manually count each ballot for each candidate. That's where it took a long time because you are watching them count them, then looking to see who bubbled in what and then sorting them from there. 4 sets of eyes at all times, sometimes 5. Two counters, and up to three inspectors, one from each party to challenge any counts or markings on the ballot.
All in all I had a pretty good time, and I really learned a lot about the voting process. I feel a lot better knowing there are the actual paper ballots being saved for the purposes of a recount. I feel this should be mandatory for all districts. In the end, come to find out more people voted than were registered! Isn't that something?

Rex, I'm proud of you for getting involved in the democratic process! I truly think it is a wonderful thing that you became a vote inspector. Because even though the election didn't go my way this time, I think it's really important that an honest vote be tallied by We the People. And yes, I too am a big fan of paper ballots that can be audited by actual humans. I wish there were a federal law that required it in every state.
Good work SELLC for getting involved, & supporting a legitimate cause.
Isn't it funny how millions & millions of dollars are donated by folks & spent on election campaigns, but there isn't enough to go around to pay the people trying to count-up-the-votes in a legal & honest way ?...
Disappointing to know that paper-ballots are being phased-out.
Cheers,
Rastus

Paper ballots have not been phased out here, it was both an honor and a privilege to help the Michigan Republican Party to ensure Trump carried Michigan.
The Democrats took this loss rather hard, many of them in denial for a very long period. I have some friends who are still in denial about it, but now that it's all said and done it felt good to get involved and more than anything I feel more confident about at least Michigans methods and records as it pertains to elections. Seeing is believing.
