Yup, and by allowing the Canadians to pipe their oil over our largest aquafers (at significant risk of a leak that could contaminate our ground water), down to Texas and Louisiana to be refined in our Southern port cities, won't this increase the number of people/countries who can now bid on that oil which had previously been confined to our general region of the country?

Won't an increase in the number of bidders result in higher gas prices for you and me?

Isn't Michigan water bad enough?

I'm really trying to understand why you feel so personally happy about such things. I would imagine that when fuel prices for you go up, and you have to start filtering your tap water, you will certainly blame Obama for this too. And just like always, when you become angry about things you don't understand, you will again vote against your own economic interests and become even angrier. It's a vicious cycle Rex, as a friend, I want you to get off of it.

Do you suspect oil pipelines as the cause for Flint's polluted water?

LOL,

Your better-off having the oil moved around by ships ! Among many things, it gives people jobs, (you don't have to buy pipes & pumps & stations), & you can start a war by sinking a vessel.

The ships are there, ready & waiting, why not use an existing resource instead of creating catastrophic headaches for folks of the future when the pipes burst ?...Or pumps fail ?...Or an earthquake swallows it all up ?...

It sounds like an election pay-back to me for a Trump associate(s), as the whole idea really is stupid IMO.

The whole world America is looking at renewable energy supply, & ridding its dependency for fossil-fuel-resources...Why waste time here ?...The cost of pumping the stuff over great distances is astronomical via pipe-lines. You'll be left with millions-of-gallons-of-oil too expensive to move through the pipe-work. Not to mention ( as PowerStroker mentioned ) the environmental impact...

This is definitely a Trump payback for sure IMO.

Cheers,

Rastus

The ships will still be used once the crude is refined Rastus... They have so much oil it's much less risky to pump it there via pipeline than try and navigate a bunch of vessels across the oceans. A pipeline can be shut down much quicker than a ship with a hole in it leaking in the ocean. It's a proven fact!

Alternative energy is just that Rastus... If there was no PRIMARY source of energy how could you have an alternative? The fact is alternative energy can no where near meet the needs of the world for our energy needs, it's also more expensive and less reliable as the ways of harnessing it has more to do with the weather than a science of extraction.

There is an environment impact by every single form of alternative energy out there... But no one dare mention them...

If this is a Trump payback, then what was the past 8 years of Obama stonewalling the pipelines? If you were to say incompetence I may agree with you, however I feel like it was Obama/Democrat payback for the past 8 years.

Hey folks,

Every great invention, that has either reduced the need, or abolished the need for oil as a fuel source has been bought-out by the oil companies themselves. This not only ensures their wealth & power now, but into the future too, as they've already bought the next trend is resource use & invention, & the rights to produce...

Except "KESHE" industries....Follow this name closely, as it will ( I think ) play a most important role in the whole earths survival & energy future...But the use of plasma is still top-secret lol, though these guys are the primary reason why we've heard little from Fukushima in the past 6-9-months, as they have "some" solutions that are apparently working, & saving lives...Namely, decontaminating land, & curing radiation-related-illnesses...But you didn't hear it from me...

Anyhow, I whole heartedly believe that Solar, Wind, & even tidal energy resources are the future, with very little to no pollution...Don't underestimate solar energy folks, it's been keeping us alive, plants & animals, + the sea & its life happily existing since the time of creation...I believe the wind has also been blowing for about that amount of time too, not to mention the motion of the tides....etc etc.

Yet we've been "forced" into a way of life that demands oil as a primary resource for our energy needs. And only the already filthy-rich ( aka Bush family ) will keep on holding on to that power, for a long time...And we gave it to them too lol.

Any doubts to all of this, just check out ( even on wiki ) the history of "Standard Oil", to gain an idea of how these MoFo's have been operating since the late 1800's..As these are essentially the same families that hold the wealth & power even to this day...And we kiss-their-ass's every day without even knowing it LOL ! I wonder who's ass Mr.Trump is kissing with this pipe-line deal lol !

It' all fun & games hey ?...

I don't know... This whole narrative by liberals that everything is bad.... I know I don't like it.

What say you entertain a level of positivity that sees the human race as positive on the earths well being? One that see's us scurry about safely burning massive amounts of oils that would otherwise result in enormous expositions or rapid plate movement that would otherwise trigger earth quakes, serious storms, massive volcanic eruptions and otherwise continent moving carnage. What is wrong with being a force for good? I think they call it evolution or something...

These other methods you mention for power generation all have their drawbacks... If it's water then the ecology of whatever system your design to harness it will effect the marine life... If it's wind then it affect the birds, has lots of noise and is known to be worthless on less than windy days. Even solar, which just sits there and soaks up the sun takes its toll on the environment by even manufacturing it and the batteries needed to store its power. That said, your computer is probably not running right now on solar, wind or water power...

I hope the pipelines make for new jobs, more gasoline and an improved economy. If they fail, which unfortunately is always a risk, they will have to pay. Knowing this I am certain they will take into consideration any and all known risks and at least try and avoid any problems. Usually with things like this, it's only a problem 30 years down the line where it's been making all kinds of money, but has portions that are just at the end of their useful life... Much is the same with gas lines in many older neighborhoods or water lines in Flint that need to have all the lead pipes taken out. Infrastructure! It's very important and I'm positive President Trump already has people working up resolutions..

To put it bluntly, I have a lot of faith in President Trump.... No one would be more let down than I should he not live up to his reputation.

LOL,

My lap-top needs around 15-volts, & 10-milli-amps of current to run when its own battery is not in use...It's powered from the wall, via hydro-electric, solar, wind, & sometimes coal.

I do hope that one day your vision can encompass the whole, & survey the planets needs, & not just the current energy giants demands & policy.

All of the suggested renewable energy supplies I have mentioned of course are not perfect, but they don't leave any toxic waste that you can't go near for 16-million years.

You would be better off IMO to have a blind-faith in a religion than to place it in Mr.Trump SELLC.

Ciao,

Rastus

I do have a blind faith in my religion, and yes I have faith in President Trump.

I'm sure the percentages of total power consumption between your claimed energy sources see very little in the ways of hydroelectric, wind or solar... It's a simple fact, but you're unwilling to admit it.

SELLC,

Australia, has only hydro-electric, wind, solar & coal as energy sources used to boil kettles to then turn turbines with alternators attached on the shafts end...

Check out the "Snowy Mountain Hydro-electric Power scheme"...We don't have Nukes thank God, though we "have to" sell Uranium to the rest-of-the-world for their Nukes...

If you didn't know, I'm pretty sure that the US-of-A's energy needs are met my Coal ( you have 1/5 of the worlds reserves ), Oil, solar, wind & Nukes, of which I believe supply about 20% of your needs.

Keystone Leak Worse Than Thought

The rupture, which went undetected by pipeline owner TransCanada, has spilled roughly 17,000 gallons of oil in South Dakota.

A leak in the Keystone pipeline is worse than first believed, spilling much more oil than first reported.
Nearly 17,000 gallons of oil has leaked in South Dakota since Saturday, pipeline owner TransCanada says up from the 187 gallons the company initially reported to federal authorities
TransCanada has "yet to pinpoint the source," the company told CNN Money, but it maintains the leak has been "controlled," and a section of the pipeline was shut down after the spill was discovered.

A section of the TransCanada Keystone XL pipeline project runs through a residential neighborhood near County Road 363 and County Road 357, east of Winona, Texas, on Dec. 3, 2012.

The leak was not reported by the Keystone pipeline's spill detection system, but instead was discovered by a passerby, according to Chris Nelson, chairman of the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission.
Keystone, which runs about 2,150 miles from tar sands in Alberta, Canada, to refineries in the U.S. Midwest, is less than a decade old. After being commissioned in 2010, it reportedly recorded 35 leaks in its first year alone, including a spill of 21,000 gallons of oil in North Dakota.
Nonetheless, TransCanada maintained that a planned $5.4 billion addition to the pipeline network, Keystone XL, would "set the gold standard for a safe and reliable 21st century pipeline," as it described in a statement in January 2015.
President Barack Obama rejected the Keystone XL project in November, citing concerns about climate change.
The company is now seeking to build the Energy East pipeline, a 2,800-mile project which would carry 1.1 million barrels of crude per day to refineries in eastern Canada. The company also sued the Obama administration in January, arguing it overstepped its constitutional authority in blocking Keystone XL.

Look at that! A story from April 2016! WOW!

You know I remember that too! And I recall it happened because some a$$hole didn't approve a new pipeline to be made, which resulted in massive wear and tear on an aging pipeline to keep Obama's party jet cruising around the globe!

Gee PowerStroker... You really struck out on that one, eh? Picked a story that happened on Obama's watch because of Obama's own inaction!

Good job!

Keystone pipeline leaks 210K gallons of oil in South Dakota

 Associated Press 33 minutes ago

AMHERST, S.D. (AP) TransCanada Corp.'s Keystone pipeline leaked an estimated 210,000 gallons of oil onto agricultural land in northeastern South Dakota, the company and state regulators said Thursday, but state officials don't believe the leak polluted any surface water bodies or drinking water systems.

Crews shut down the pipeline Thursday morning and activated emergency response procedures after a drop in pressure was detected resulting from the leak south of a pump station in Marshall County, TransCanada said in a statement. The cause was being investigated.

Discovery of the leak comes just days before Nebraska regulators are scheduled to announce their decision Monday whether to approve the proposed Keystone XL oil pipeline, an expansion that would boost the amount of oil TransCanada is now shipping through the existing line, which is known simply as Keystone. The expansion has faced fierce opposition from environmental groups, American Indian tribes and some landowners.

Brian Walsh, an environmental scientist manager at the South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources, said the state has sent a staff member to the site of the leak in a rural area near the border with North Dakota about 250 miles (402 kilometers) west of Minneapolis.

"Ultimately, the cleanup responsibility lies with TransCanada, and they'll have to clean it up in compliance with our state regulations," Walsh said.

TransCanada said in its statement that it expected the pipeline to remain shut down as the company responds to the leak. It did not offer a time estimate, and a spokesman didn't immediately return a telephone message from The Associated Press.

The federal Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration didn't immediately return an email requesting additional information from The AP. Since 2010, companies have reported 17 spills bigger than the leak announced Thursday, topping 210,000 gallons (5,000 barrels) of crude oil or refined petroleum products, according to U.S. Department of Transportation records.

The existing Keystone pipeline transports crude from Canada to refineries in Illinois and Oklahoma, passing through the eastern Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri. It can handle nearly 600,000 barrels daily, or about 23 million gallons. TransCanada says on its website that the company has safely transported more than 1.5 billion barrels of oil, or about 63 billion gallons, through the system since operations began in 2010.

President Donald Trump issued a federal permit for the expansion project in March even though it had been rejected by the Obama administration. The Keystone XL project would move crude oil from Alberta, Canada, across Montana and South Dakota to Nebraska, where it would connect with existing pipelines feeding refineries along the Gulf Coast.

Kent Moeckly, a member of conservation and family agriculture group Dakota Rural Action, who opposed the Keystone pipeline, said he drove to land he owns near the site of the spill Thursday.

"There's a heck of a south wind up here today, and man it just stunk of crude oil," said Moeckly, whose property is crossed by the pipeline. "A mile away, but I'll tell you it was like it was next door."

A leak and spill in southeastern South Dakota in April 2016 prompted a weeklong shutdown of the pipeline. TransCanada estimated that just under 17,000 gallons (405 barrels) of oil spilled onto private land during that leak. Federal regulators said an "anomaly" on a weld on the pipeline was to blame. No waterways or aquifers were affected.

TransCanada said at the time that the leak was the first detected on the pipeline since it began operating, though there had been leaks at pumping stations. One of those leaks happened in southeastern North Dakota in May 2011, when 14,000 gallons (333 barrels) spilled after a valve failed at a pumping station near the South Dakota border.

Sierra Club Beyond Dirty Fuels campaign director Kelly Martin said in a statement that the only way to protect against leaks in the future is for Nebraska to reject the Keystone XL pipeline.

"We've always said it's not a question of whether a pipeline will spill, but when, and today TransCanada is making our case for us," Martin said.

There seems to be this great pride among Liberals about how this accident happened. They almost seem happy!

Of course, no one cares about the past 8 years where a Liberal ran the nation into the ground... Obama was a 8 year oil spill that may never be fully cleaned up.

The 6.0 PSD was a complete and total POS... Are we to assume anything made by Fords is a complete POS?

Maybe you're on to something here PowerStroker! biggrin

Then there is the fact that you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs... You'll say that's not a one-size-fits-all for your narrative but the fact is you won't be bothered to post back when this company cleans up the mess... No, it's just like everything else with liberals... Not in line with reality.

I think you better read the fine print, many of the contracts for them pipelines last until the last year of Bidens term... While there may not be any NEW permits issued, the old ones are valid contracts.

With regards to the wall, not a big issue here in the great white North. Biden is planning on giving Mexico a few billion anyway...

We encourage this kind of nonsense, it's what cost you the election in 2016.

Keystone XL Pipeline Developer Nixes Project

Wed, June 9, 2021, 4:10 PM

The Canadian company that developed the Keystone XL oil pipeline announced on Wednesday that it would abandon the project.

TC Energy, based in Calgary, Alberta, said construction of the pipeline ceased following President Bidens revocation of a presidential permit in January 2021.

TC Energy Corporationconfirmed today that after a comprehensive review of its options, and in consultation with its partner, the Government of Alberta, it has terminated the Keystone XL Pipeline Project, the company said in a statement.

LOL ! Fusion reactors are only an effort to keep a dying industry going, since the basic infrastructure remains intact, though aging. If the industry had of moved in this direction decades ago, they may have had a chance of survival. But let's face it, anything to do with nukes means a way to make weapons of mass destruction.

I personally don't want to see too many drastic changes with the new technologies that become available. I'm perfectly happy to be driving / riding around on a piston & transmission engineered vehicle that's powered by water, & uses oil as a lubricant. We get the best-of-both-worlds here, where we still use roads, & oil, but no exhaust pollution. Going completely electric like Musk needs to exist, purely as a matter of choice, but filling up with tap-water for fuel is better than waiting 2-hrs for a recharge.

I personally see the pipeline contract as an unacceptable waste of your time & money. Finnish what they started for goodness-sake ! Or at least seek compensation for losses. Money is too hard earned to be wasted in such a way.

As for the wall...Think of all the people that could have been fed & saved from starvation with the pipe-line money alone !

You're right Rastus! It's a complete waste of money, and it could have been spent in much better ways!

Meanwhile Joe Biden helped Putin get his pipeline from Russia to Germany... all the while he canceled our XL Pipeline with Canada.

I used to think the constantly changing dynamic of our government was a good thing, but if it's just going to end up in waste and bureaucratic red tape when it comes to our infrastructure and legacy projects - what is the point?

It's gotten really bad, the right hand does not even know what the left hand is doing anymore. It's a complete mess!

It's going to be a big mess to clean, no doubt... but we need oil, so what are we going to do?

No doubt this will raise gas prices, because thats just what they do whenever there is a situation like this.
