President Trump's attorney, Rudy Giuliani, told Fox News on Wednesday that special counsel Robert Mueller has told the president's legal team he will follow Justice Department guidance and not seek an indictment against Trump.
Giuliani, himself a former federal prosecutor and mayor of New York City, also told Fox News that Mueller's investigators have not responded to five information requests from the president's team. That has forced Trump's legal team to push off making a decision about whether the president will sit for an interview with the special counsel -- a decision they had hoped to reach by Thursday.
The precedent that federal prosecutors cannot indict a sitting president is laid out in a 1999 Justice Department memo. Giuliani told Fox News that Mueller has no choice but to follow its guidance.
"This case is essentially over," Giuliani said. "They're just in denial."
Giuliani joined Trump's legal team last month and has repeatedly warned that an in-person interview of the president by the special counsel's team would constitute a "perjury trap." Complicating matters, Trump himself has refused to rule out agreeing to an interview with Mueller.
I believe this goes back to a concept we actually adopted from the British empire called Soverign Immunity. The sitting president is, for the most part immune from DOJ prosecution, just like Queen Elizabeth can't be personally sued, though her government can be.
Whether it's a case of Mueller not finding enough evidence to prosecute, or whether it's a case of the Justice Department believing (probably correctly) that only Congress can put a sitting president on trial I don't yet know.
I doubt very much though that the investigation will end. And I say this because even if President Trump can't be prosecuted (at least while in office), he may be surrounded by people who can be, and based on the evidence that has come to light so far, they could possibly be involved in some very shady dealings. Either way I would imagine once Mueller completes his investigation, he will report his findings to Congress to do with whatever they please. I just hope he shows more professionalism than Comey and doesn't drop any bombshells during an election.
Good thoughts on the matter Powerstroker. I had not even considered any sovereign immunity, that's an enlightenment, thank you.
Will it continue? Possibly in some way but not as the original premise of "Russian collusion"
I have actually never disliked Mueller, a little sometimes maybe. I also believe report forth coming.
I had and have faith in some fed offices such as FBI. Most of them, huge majority I should say are very thorough and dedicated. Dealt with many. FBI, ATF, NFA when I was a firearms manufacturer (yes full auto limited to Mil and LEO and silencers too) Always the most educated, professional persons I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. Sometimes difficult to deal with such as compliance checks lasting many hours. Yet always professional and to the letter of the law. They would try us dealers though, "you can't manufacture this firearm" Read them the proper CFR and they just smile, you passed.

That's about it IMO...Apparently there's about 4-5 banks located in London that manifest themselves as the "Federal Reserve"....
Long may we all say "God save the Queen"...( or maybe "God save the King" in a few more months time ) !

Yes Mueller is a Republican, and so is Comey, and so is Rosenstein.
I dunno guys, if the situation were exactly reversed, and a Democratic President's administration was under investigation by other Democrats trying to save the party from possible corruption that could damage it forever... I'd be really interested in their findings for the sake of America. Instead of going on the defensive in favor of some short term policy wins.
I am pretty sure if the nation could deal with Obama and his closet Muslim ties for eight years that it can stand eight years of Trump and his Russian pals...
I seem to recall this exact situation being reversed, and yes America did emerge to become "Great Again".
Fear not PowerStroker, it appears all the liberals are moving to England! Cherio-ole' mate!

But that's just me.
Would never happen. The Establishment is far too protective of the Democrats. Had Hillary won, I guarantee you we would've never heard a single word about Russia, or Uranium One, or any of the many other scandals that have been exposed for all the world to see. It would've all been swept under the rug, never to be seen or heard of ever again. It would've "never happened".
You know there is a very protective, almost tribal conservative "establishment" too right? They exist everywhere. One only needs to read this site to see it.
Maybe. Maybe not. However, it cannot be denied that tbrough this administration, there has been more Democrat corruption exposed than any of us ever perceived. We knew it was there, we knew it was bad, but it turns out it was much worse than we ever assumed.
