President James Madison was president, & he represented the Republican Democrat ticket !...(See, two sides of the same coin)...

Liberal British Army huh? They were just doing what the authoritarian douche King George wanted. Liberals aren't authoritarian douches. It's Republicans who want a leader, Democrats want a meeting.
"George Lucas once described his own father as a "domineering, ultra right-wing businessman"-a man who is largely believed to have inspired the relationship between Luke and Anakin Skywalker. In 1980, The Empire Strikes Back revealed that Darth Vader was actually Luke's father, a twist that has become one of the most famous father-son stories of the century."
Yeah, any socialist/authoritarian style government where the many work for the benefit of the few is Democrat/Liberal in nature, if only because it is easy to be liberal with other peoples money.
With regards to George Lucas, who might I add sold his rights in the Star Wars films, I don't really trust anything he says because the dark side more closely resembles that what you see in North Korea or China.

You do know it was England who supported the confederate states too?... Right?...
Yes, very true...In fact, it was the Rothchild's who reported that Britain had lost the war against France, causing stocks to plummet to almost nothing, when in fact, the Brits had won !!! This false information & hours-of-delay for the real news allowed the Rothchild's to buy all of Britain's economy for pennies on the pound...
Britain needed a way to set up a Central Banking system, so they not only created your Civil war, but funded both sides too, at great monetary profit.
And this type of business activity is what led to your Federal Reserve becoming the Central Bank of the US-of-A, in 1913...It's ran in the UK, by the Rothchild's one would assume...And within 20-years of allowing them to print your money, the country was broke with a manufactured Great Depression in 1933...That then caused the "New deal" to come about, that you're still paying interest on...
Nothing's changed in this regard...The same contract stands, & people like your politicians take advantage of this fact, & look after themselves & the banks whilst in office, to secure a better future for themselves after politics...
Stayers like Nancy try to keep things as legitimate as possible, as they've known a great many influential people from around the globe, for a very long time.

Socialism is an economic system, and Authoritarianism is a governing style. Sometimes they mix and it's historically not great when they do - like in much of the Soviet Union's history, but generally they are separate things entirely. Socialism would be almost the far left extreme economic system, second only to communism. Be that as it may, most modern and healthy capitalistic democracies embrace socialism for certain aspects of their economy, as do we here in the US. And as far as governing styles go, Authoritarianism is more commonly found on the right but not always, whereas Libertarianism is generally the preferred governing style of the left with some exceptions... An American Democrat for example would say that healthcare is a right for all rather than a privilege for those who can afford it. In this case said Democrat would try to use authoritarian tactics to try and get the entire citizenry covered by socialized healthcare. Be that as it may, for the vast majority of issues, a Democrat would generally be much more libertarian in their governing style with regard to the things that aren't considered rights.
Examples of Socialism in the United States (things we all pay for collectively through our taxes):
Military, Postal Service, Roads and bridges, Public School system, Courts, Criminal justice system, Centers for Disease Control, Food and Drug administration, FDIC, Environmental Protection Agency, Social Security, Federal Reserve Banking system, Consumer financial protection bureau, Federal parks, National weather service, Public television, food stamps, etc.
Examples of Capitalism in the United States (things we pay for individually from our own pocket):
Housing, Cars, College education, Toll roads, health insurance, utilities (usually), prostitutes, tools of our trades, private retirement plans, vacations, food, clothing, pharmaceuticals, entertainment, etc.
The reason I feel the need to explain this again, is because so often, socialism is used as a dirty word. But in it's pure form of an economic method only (without being combined with authoritarianism) and if used in moderation it can be a very good and necessary thing. I only ask that we try to speak with more precision instead of making broad brush generalities. Because Republicans embrace socialism every day of their lives. The only difference is the Democrats would prefer to make a few more things socialized than the Republicans would. But nobody I know would like to make everything socialized and move to communism, so the fear mongering can stop anytime now please.

Not so fast PowerStroker... What you would like to call socialism is nothing more than functions of Government and all these services provided by the government are just that, shared services. There are many layers of Government that you just clumped together there to make the term socialism appear to be something it's not! You clumped Federal, State, City and Township into that socialist net when in reality there is nothing socialistic about a community forming a city or township! These services and their cost are spread across tax payers (usually property owners) and other forums of Government.
You aren't going to warm anyone in here up to socialism PowerStroker, except perhaps Rastus who lives under a Monarchy. We don't have that here but your airhead freshmen congresspeople are trying like hell to push it. Even you are in here trying to paint it in a more appealing way but it's ugly and abstract to true red blooded Americans anyway your brush strokes it...

It's not about warming people to socialism, but realizing that as a community & country, socialism has a place of where every citizen has the same basic & equal rights as the next person. And regardless of where one sits on the "social success scale" basic human rights & needs are met, without prejudice.
Sure, some folks will take advantage of a more benevolent system, but then, that's all they'll ever be, & is a small price to pay when one considers that crime-rates of all manners will be reduced, thus increasing the general well being of the rest of the community.
And the go-getter's of this world can still go-get !!!
A simple system like this also rids the governments need to spy on every individual on the planet, in pursuit of its own paranoid agenda of terrorism & terrorists. But then this creates more jobs & government think-tanks alike LOL !...Hence creating more problems, & solutions for them to provide for us...
Yes Australia bows down to a Queen...But we hardly ever see her, since it's too hot down here, & essentially we're a UK penal colony...That's why I laugh at SELLC when he allure's to Christmas Island, when all of Australia was / is a prison !
From what I've gained from this forum, the US-of-A's biggest issue is the MASSIVE amount of BOLLOX that's fed to the people on a day-to-day basis, & across all facets of media. It really is disgraceful that well-meaning tax-paying citizens have absolutely no sure footed media outlet that tells the truth...And your government only takes advantage of this mess to continue to work in secret on its own secret agenda's.
I hope that all the folks state-side start gathering their news from other off-shore services, so that local media lifts its game.
A new amendment to the constitution is now needed, where freedom of speech, & freedom of the press are labeled both fiction & non-fiction where applicable.
Once we all stop swallowing copious amounts of bollox each & every day, will we then be able to make better informed decisions, across the whole social spectrum, to everyone's greater benefit.
Nancy, 2020 !

Socialism only comes into play when someone can't pay their fair share of the government services they use.
With Democrats they like to "FORCE" this on people and come up with BS ways of trying to explain their $100k+ salary... best way to do that is thru the poor. They aren't uplifting these people! THEY ARE EXPLOITING THEM! Plain and simple!

Rex, you're confusing socialism with welfare. Government in and of itself isn't necessarily socialism, but the services it provides through tax dollars is.
Perhaps if you can someday learn to become curious and open minded, then wisdom might actually find you. As it stands, you're not curious about anything, and you really should be.
With the Star Wars thing I read that too, it's clear though that George Lucas decided instead of using the original scrfipt, it would be a better to make it about his relationship with his father. I think it was pretty accurate from what I hear.
Mr.Trump is pretty popular, & have no doubt the world is awaiting the 15th too..A quick visit over with my folks revealed on their TV, (with multiple channels of international news from different countries across Europe) that he's making news-headlines everywhere lol !
And so is Nancy...
