Poster tying Rep. Ilhan Omar to 9/11 attack sparks angry confrontation in W.Va. Capitol

A display in the West Virginia statehouse equating Rep. Ilhan Omar to al-Qaida terrorists behind the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, sparked a confrontation between Republican and Democratic lawmakers on Friday, according to NBC News.
One person was physically injured and another resigned as a result of the incident that centered on the freshman Minnesota Democrat, NBC reported.
An image of the poster that caused the confrontation was shared on social media by Democratic Del. Mike Pushkin. It shows an image of the World Trade Center just after terrorists hit the second tower with a civilian airliner.
"'Never forget' you said ... " reads the caption above the image of the burning towers.
"I am the proof you have forgotten" reads the next caption below an image of Omar, who is Muslim.

"No wonder why I am on the 'Hitlist' of a domestic terrorist and 'Assassinate Ilhan Omar' is written on my local gas stations," Omar tweeted with a link to the NBC story.
Omar has come under fire in recent weeks for her criticisms of Israel. Last month, she apologized for, and later deleted, a series of tweets about Israel that were condemned by both Democrats and Republicans as anti-Semitic.
The display was put up just outside the House of Delegates chamber as part of the West Virginia Republican Party's inaugural WVGOP Day called "Republicans Take the Rotunda!"
Democrats who were outraged by the display got into a disagreement with the House sergeant at arms, Anne Lieberman, reported West Virginia MetroNews. Lieberman responded by saying "All Muslims are terrorists," according to Democratic Del. Michael Angelucci. Lieberman submitted a letter of resignation on Friday.
Minority Whip Mike Caputo was so upset by the display that he kicked open the door to the chamber, injuring a doorkeeper in the process, MetroNews reported.
"Im the one who kicked the door open. Thats how angry I was. I went over to that poster and I said it was a racist poster," Caputo told MetroNews. "I apologize for my anger. I dont like getting this way. Im very angry today."
"I cannot understand why it is so hard for my Republican colleagues to say it is wrong to display an islamaphobic, hateful poster in the Capitol this morning," Pushkin said in a tweet.
"The West Virginia House of Delegates unequivocally rejects hate in all of its forms," West Virginia House Speaker Roger Hanshaw, a Republican, said in a statement Friday.
"As we began todays floor session, we had a series of incidents occur in and outside of our Chamber that absolutely do not reflect the character and civility the people of this state demand of their public servants. Leadership of the House of Delegates is currently working to investigate these incidents to learn firsthand the factual basis of what occurred, and will respond with appropriate action," the statement said.
It's quite clear you people in Minnesota have not learned from 9/11...
Nothing racist about it! The way this woman talks and carries herself it's clear, all you people from Minnesota are completely nuts! And that's not racist because I said ALL YOU PEOPLE!
So there you have it...

I believe, given her highly anti-Semitic statements thus far that she is capable of the hate required to support something like 911..
And if you don't think so, then just give her a pass like every other dirty liberal you support! I don't know of any other members of congress who could get away with that!
Same as her buddy Tlaib, who called our President a motherfucker while at the same time vowing to impeach him. She alone lacks that power, and so does the entire house. That is up to the Senate, not her.

I've heard an awful lot of Republicans who are anti-semitic. Ann Coulter comes to mind right off the bat.
It only takes to House to impeach, it then requires the Senate to convict and remove from office. Just ask Bill Clinton.
Gee PowerStroker, I don't recall Ann Coulter ever being a member of congress? Do you? I thought she was a commentator / talk-show host the likes of Rachel Madcow, or Oprah...
And yes, everyone is well aware of the enormous amount of time and money wasted on Bill Clinton's blow-job... Not many are impressed but as you mentioned, the Senate is needed to convict - so he walked free because your party at the time held the majority in the Senate.
That being said, your party can all circle-jerk to dreams of impeachment but at the end of the day that's all it is! Nothing but self-serving masturbation that will just leave a stain on your blue dress and get washed out in the 2020 election!

In fact, I hope enough evidence can be obtained to prove the Democrats have been engineering a coup d'etat since before Trump was elected - this way the US Armed forces can haul off every treasonous Democrat on the house floor after a partisan majority votes to impeach on nothing more than bogus manufactured evidence going all the way back to the Clinton dossier.
That would be the quickest and best way to deal with them, save us all a lot of trouble and civil war.

Per Posse Comitatus, the US Armed forces can't be used against the citizenry. Civilian law enforcement wold be used if indeed there were a coup. But that's not going to happen.
There are a few loopholes to be sure, but the idea that US military would start dragging elected Democrats off the Senate floor would likely result in a swift and successful Supreme Court challenge, if a mutiny didn't happen first.
The oath military officers currently take is:
"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."
To defend the Constitution of the United States, is to recognize that Congress is a co-equal branch to their Commander in chief. To allow themselves be used by the Executive against Congress, is not in keeping with their oath, and therefore I expect any attempt would cause some serious issues within the ranks. Especially if higher ranking officers to whom they also swear to obey - intervene with contradictory orders to what the Commander in chief made. Furthermore, they swear to obey the aforementioned superiors in accordance with the regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice, which would include posse comitatus and all federal laws.

Yes there are loopholes, could call them that or could call them the "law" which they are.
I took the same oath near 47 years ago, still applies to me too. As does most Vets.
Where there is a twist is obey the Connie and POTUS. What if POTUS is anti Connie like GW and Obama were? GW actually said "get that out of my face it's just a fuking piece of paper"
Before GW in 2006, think first draft of the Ndaa. It took congress to approve a martial law situation. In 2005 GW changed that with a stroke of a pen which he later gave to obama (I have a pen and a phone, GW gave me the pen) Anyway, now POTUS alone can declare Martial law and suspend posse comitatus alone. Thanks GW, hope you empty yourself when you are hung and you will be.

Actually now that I read up to Rex's last post it's a non issue. Rex said a majority votes to impeach on the House floor - That isn't removal from office, it just sends it to the Senate for their consideration of conviction or not. If a majority in the senate didn't convict it's a non issue and trump would give House Dems the finger as usual. But if they did convict, he would no longer be president, and the military would no longer follow his orders anyway.
I have a feeling the military WOULD still follow his orders and the country will be hellbound in CW. The military was paramount in asking Trump to run,,,, for good reason.
The military doesn't get to choose their Commander in chief except by their individual votes. If he were removed from office by the Senate, and the military still followed his orders, that would be against their oath to obey President Pence.
They would be court martialed.

Technically yes. However this is a "movement" and would be interesting to see what pans out. We are in some interesting times, shits gonna fly. Which way, our guess I spose. Stock up on popcorn.
You are the one that reminds me that to join the military, is to give up some of the Constitutional liberties that civilians enjoy.
I believe taking part in a political movement while on duty would be one of those things.
Yes you do give some up. Not many and not so bad really once you understand the basics and they WILL repeat it all to you 3 times. In the military everything they want you to retain you will see 3 times. They believe you retain 1/3 each time. Wonder it they ever went to the kinestethic, audio and visual aspects of learning? Good schools will check you out and see how you learn best. Then present it to each individual student as necessary.
Pretty much stay away from political talk in the active military you're OK, OK to vote of course just don't go hollywood on your views.

Yep !!!
And writing it down with pen & paper...Ist you have to research & find an answer, 2nd you have to confirm your answer you've found after finding it, & 3rd, you need pen & paper to write your answer.
Computers & cut & paste is nonsense. We're being dumbed-down as a whole, world-wide with kids now exclusively needing & using computers.
Perhaps Mr.Oliver North can assist with your enquiree's ?....
