Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch told GOP lawmakers in a closed-door testimony in December that she couldnt recall anything about the Carter Page FISA warrant and three subsequent renewals despite the fact that the DOJ has to approve the warrants.
Loretta Lynch appeared to have amnesia during her Congressional testimony in December one official told investigative reporter Sara Carter.
It appears Loretta Lynch is suffering from the same kind of selective amnesia Hillary Clinton suffers from which is why she magically cannot recall anything that could incriminate her or her corrupt Justice Department.
Transcripts of Loretta Lynchs December testimony to the House Judiciary and House Oversight Committees have not been made public yet, however, Sara Carter obtained an excerpt of the hearing.
Recall, then-AG Loretta Lynch met with former President Bill Clinton on the Phoenix airport tarmac in June of 2016 just days before then-FBI Director James Comey usurped the DOJ and announced in a presser that Hillary Clinton was exonerated of any wrong doing in the criminal investigation into her private server.
Loretta Lynch insisted she only discussed innocuous things such as golf and grandchildren with Bill Clinton, however during her December testimony to Congress, she evaded questions about the shady tarmac meeting and would not disclose any information on her Departments approval to allow the FBI to spy on Carter Page.
Congressman Nuness 2-page FISA memo revealed that Loretta Lynchs Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates signed off on one of the Carter Page FISA applications Rod Rosenstein was the other DOJ official who signed off on a (June 2017) Carter Page FISA renewal.
Loretta Lynch, however was trying to convince curious GOP lawmakers that she was not aware of what her Deputy was doing and that she could not recall anything about Carter Page.
Lynch acknowledged the standard operating procedure and what is required by the Attorney General when the FBI seeks a FISA warrant on an American citizen.
By statute, the Attorney General is the final signatory on the FISA applications, Lynch stated to the Committees. By regulation, the signatory authority has been delegated shall I say sharedwith the Deputy Attorney General and the head of the national security division as long as the people in those positions are presidentially appointed and Senate-confirmed.
Sara Carter has the exchange between then-Chairman Bob Goodlatte and Loretta Lynch:
So she knows the rules and regulations but when asked in more detail about the process of approving the FBIs application on Page she freezes.
Goodlatte, who was then the chairman of the committee, asked Lynch: Is that what happened to the Carter Page case?
I wasnt involved in the processing of the Page FISA and I can outline the process for you but I dont have personal (knowledge) of it, she said.
Confounded Goodlatte says no, no, it is just not clear to me, the Attorney General has a role, you often rely upon others to supplement your work in fulfilling that role. Did you have a role in that or were you briefed?
I dont have any recollection of being briefed on the Page application either. And I dont have a recollection of signing it, said Lynch in response.
Goodlatte then asks Lynch if she recalls signing any of the renewal applications to continue spying on Page.
I dont have a recollection of being involved in the FISA for Mr. Page at all, she says.
Goodlatte then goes on to ask: were you briefed about the relevance of Mr. Pages FISA warrant with regard to this broader Russia investigation?
Again, Lynch fails to have any memory of anything Page.
I dont have a recollection of a briefing of that type, no, said Lynch.
Goodlatte then asks: When did you first hear the name Carter Page?
Lynch: Again, it would have to have been like late spring of 2016 or so in this context. I dont recall I knew of him from other sources or not.
Loretta Lynch contradicted herself in her exchange with Chairman Goodlatte.
According to a declassified memo, shortly after Donald Trump announced Carter Page would be joining his campaign in the Spring of 2016, Loretta Lynch met with James Comey, Andrew McCabe and Peter Strzok to discuss Carter Page.
Lynch met with top FBI brass and discussed whether they should alert Donald Trump to Carter Pages past given Mr. Page was previously on the FBIs radar for his past interactions with Russian spies but the government officials decided against it.
By the Spring of 2016, Carter Page was already back on the FBIs radar, although they did not seek their first FISA warrant on Page until October of 2016.
Furthermore, former British spy Christopher Steele was already feeding DOJ official Bruce Ohr and the FBI information in the summer of 2016 from his Russian sources whilst he was compiling his anti-Trump dossier.
The dossier was then used to obtain the FISA warrant and three renewals on Carter Page but Loretta Lynch knows nothing about it and cant recall what her own department was doing during the most explosive, high-stakes presidential campaign in US history. Sure.
