I doubt very much that either of our respective parties are going to allow us to redefine in our images - what it is to be a modern liberal or conservative. Eventually you are going to have to accept that if you are going to continue voting for, and carrying water for the Republican party, you are only enabling them to continue their trend away from traditional conservatism and toward an embrace of social conservatism/authoritarian douchebaggery.
I continue to carry water for the Democratic party, and I'm perfectly fine with what they are becoming. As we have discussed already, the original Democratic party wasn't a good fit for me, but now their platform gels with me just fine.
We are a big tent party over here nowadays, you may as well come on over and give it a try. We're not so scary once you get to know us.
And I will never again vote for a democrat under any circumstance...
You are obviously OKAY with the party of liberals being overtaken by a bunch a LEFTIST...
You re free to remain a fucking idiot...you obviously like being an idiot and it tends to suit you...
No that would not be ok, because it is against the laws of the United States. Wearing a hijab is not against the law, nor does it necessarily indicate that someone follows Sharia.
Having read about how women are treated under Sharia, it would be highly unlikely that if Congresswoman Omar lived under such a system, that she would have ever been allowed to run for Congress in the first place. There is a reason Jeanine Pirro was spanked, because too many Americans are all too happy to believe a lie if it suits their prejudices.
THIS...you started from a point of what does it hurt if they do it in their own home...
You make comments about Sharia Law then convince yourself it is about wearing a fucking head scarf...
We keep repeating many aspects of sharia law BREAKS THE LAW in the US...
but hey whats it matter...
throwing acid on a woman's face...but only if it is done in the privacy of their own home...
RELIGIOUS LAW is not allowed PERIOD ever in this country...

Now that they are here they think they are free to push whatever they like in the name of religion...
Who is "they" exactly? We can't assume all Muslims / women / whatever subgroup you choose, are using the same playbook or even have the same agenda.
She requested a rule change that increases the freedom of all members of Congress to wear religious headgear of their choosing, and she got what she wanted. At no point did she propose a rule that would force anyone to wear a hijab, or to impose Sharia law on you or me or anyone else. What she did was to increase freedom, something a true conservative would appreciate.
"They" is Muslims that came from countries like Somalia where all they have ever known is religious rule...
They is not ALL Muslim but a particular subgroup of Muslim who came from a different region of the world where the rules are VERY DIFFERENT...
You are FREE to be okay with it...
I am FREE to not be okay with it...
When the time comes for civil war and I am beginning to think it will happen in my lifetime...I am ready...ARE YOU?
it is all nice to sit around talking about how harmless you THINK something is...
but it is how they operate...little bits at a time...until they take over...
Funny how the terrorist recruiting capital of the USA is her district in Minnesota...
and while you ma be correct many of those in Minnesota who voted for Ilham Omar may be peaceful Muslim...
There is evidence that not just some but many of them are not...problem is NOW that Obama placed them there is how do you deal with the ones who are evil without trampling the rights of those who are here in peace...

But Nuffan, by your logic, any prayer on public school grounds should also be banned - which would be a regulation. As a left wing libertarian, I want people to have as many rights as possible - which includes the right to worship as they wish.
I'll let you gather your thoughts for a while, then get back to me please.

I am against prayer in public school...
it is not free exercise it is indoctrination...
I do not need time to gather my thoughts....
prayer in private school different subject...private school is not paid for by tax payers...
what was actually banned from school was reading a christian prayer over the intercom to the entire student body...

sounds like you have incorrectly assumed I was part of the christian right wing...I am not...never had been...
On DHU in threads about fiscal policy I was considered hard core republican...
in threads about social issues I was many times called a liberal....
Old Louey hated me....lmao

The crosses on graves in an Italian cemetery in Pieve di Cento have been covered with black cloth so as not to offend those who may come from another religion.
The cemetery, which is located in Bologna in a town of around 7,000 people, has also installed motorised blackout curtains in a local chapel following renovations to hide Roman Catholic symbols during ceremonies involving other denominations, Il Giornalereports.
Following the reports of the coverings of the symbols, many have expressed criticism including Forza Italia (Forward Italy) deputy Galeazzo Bignami who denounced the move saying those looking not to offend were disrespecting Christian values and he added, even more so the memory of our dead, hiding them behind motorised tents in a cemetery to avoid offending other religions.

Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar spoke at a California fundraiser for the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in March.
In her speech she called for Muslims to raise hell and make people uncomfortable. As she put it, for far too long we have lived with the discomfort of being a second class citizen.
Omar went on to say that CAIR was founded after 9/11 because some people did something, explaining that Muslims were starting to lose their civil liberties and holding their breath waiting for what happened in New Zealand against the mosque to happen.
