Crenshaw shows how to handle Democrats
The most interesting man in Congress is Moshe Dayan Crenshaw, who lost use of his right eye in service to his country as a Navy SEAL. The Texas Republican received national attention when "Saturday Night Live" mocked his eye patch just before the election last November.
In his victory speech days later, Crenshaw said, "SEALs don't get offended. That's just not what we do. That doesn't mean it wasn't offensive, but let's stop demanding apologies and firings of people. Let's just demand that comedy actually be funny, but let's be good people."
Later, there was a troubling tweet and a cry for help from Pete Davidson, the actor who said the line that with the eye patch Crenshaw looked like a hit man in a porno movie.
Crenshaw reached out to him with a phone call. They had met when Davidson apologized later on the show.
"I talked to him personally," Crenshaw told the Hollywood Reporter.
"We don't go back very far. We're not good friends. But I think he appreciated hearing from me. I told him everyone had a purpose in this world. God put you here for a reason. It's your job to find that purpose. And you should live that way."
Crenhaw's purpose for now is to hold Democrats accountable and not back down.
After Democrat Congresswoman Ilhan Omar demoted the massacre of nearly 3,000 Americans on 9/11 to "some people did something," he spoke out.
Crenshaw said, "Its terrorists who killed almost 3,000 Americans, we should talk about it that way. We should talk about it with deference."
He also said, "All Representative Omar had to do was explain herself. Say whatever she wants. Say she didnt mean it diffuse the situation, but dont double down, alright? Dont play the victim card and dont start making accusations of me I just think that was uncalled for."
His polite rebuke shocked Democrats who now call any criticism of the Muslim Minnesota congresswoman inciting violence.
Democrat Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York said Omar has done more for 9/11 first responders than Republicans have. Both women have been in Congress less than four months. I seriously doubt they have done more than Republicans have in 18 years.
Crenshaw replied, "This is a really dishonest attack, and let me tell you how I am for 9/11 victims and 9/11 first-responders. Im the guy who went overseas to make sure this never happens again, to take the fight to the enemy that committed these attacks.
"I would go back and do it every day if I could. So to say that kind of attack, that is the height of partisanship and Im really disappointed in them saying that."
Texas did good by sending him to Washington.
Minnesota and New York need to try harder, don't they?
