Another $28 per car increase in auto insurance starting today (July 1st 2019).
One of my customers mentioned this to me awhile back, but now it is official and in effect.
The scheme that is auto insurance here in Michigan is outrageous! Get this, the insurance companies only pay up to $550,000 for medical and the STATE picks up anything over that! The increases they blame on the state, even though they are only paying out $550,000 max for medical, they are still charging like they are paying for unlimited medical benefits! It's a scam! It's WAY out of hand! Making what amount to a small house payment for car insurance each month! Read that as almost $500 per month for two 14+ year old primary vehicles and two more in storage (which can't be driven)!
The ONLY regulation in place that allows for this sort of abuse is the law that requires you buy auto insurance to operate a vehicle.
So my answer would be FAR FEWER as in NONE!
The other regulation that gets in the way is the one that requires ALL MICHIGAN policies to carry a unlimited lifetime medical coverage in the event you get hurt in an accident. I think it's a good idea but apparently the insurance companies do not and charge crazy high premiums! Even the State is in on it, because they are collecting some $170 in anticipation of future claims, while the current amount of $48 per policy is all they are actually paying out at the moment. Typical government making a huge pool of money they can later pillage.
When are you going to wake up to reality? Your regulations are what increase cost! Requiring someone to have insurance does no good if they can not afford it, they still need to get to work and in some parts of Detroit taking a bus is a risky proposition. You could get life insurance for that, but at that point you're dead so what does it matter?

I dunno dude, I sure feel better knowing that everybody on the road is required by law to be insured.
Here in Michigan it's called "no-fault" insurance because your insurance takes care of you and their insurance takes care of them, except in the cases of deductibles and if you're under-insured for property damage. But the mandate that everyone has insurance is where the insurance company is being given a monopoly and as such, they are taking advantage!
It is really bad around here PowerStroker, you call another insurance agency for a better quote, but they can see you current and past policies and what you pay for them. They are real sneaky about it too, not even mentioning they have that information - then ask you questions to see if you will lie. Then to make it even worse they allow auto insurance companies to use your credit score to determine your rate! What does that have to do with auto insurance?
What is happening here PowerStroker is exactly what happens in socialism, where people like me pay more for all the people who don't pay anything! And when the cops catch these people and ticket them, and require them to buy their state insurance do you think any of them proceeds go back to lowering my insurance rates!? FUCK NO! They just keep jacking up the rates!
I mean what the fuck!? It's not like I'm trying to insure two Corvettes, a Lincoln and a Formula Firebird!

About a mile away is a house that has a driveway absolutely full of old Subarus and Saturns, and 1 S10 picup. I would imagine their garage has more of the same but I've never seen it open.
Are you "those" people in your neighborhood?

Actually the Mercedes fend for themselves. Back when I was driving the Mercedes it was only $79 a month because I had no-fault bare minimums. I could do that because the wife and I were the only ones driving it but yes PowerStroker, I currently have two Mercedes - one of which is sentimental to me and I doubt I'll ever be able to let go of it. I know a guy who has about four of these smashed at his offices and I am hoping he will come off with an interior or I find one with a nice interior. By far the 560 Mercedes has been the most expensive with regards to gasoline, you're lucky to see 12 MPG in the city on a GOOD day and it don't get much better than that on the highway! Plus it requires Premium, but I use Premium in all my cars anyway.
The Lincon is probably our most fuel efficient vehicle with its 3.0 DOHC V6. Now that I have dumped about $1200 worth of parts into it and about $1500 in labor, which I had to take on the chin, it rides really good! It's a nice little zip around the town and not give a fuck car, you can park up front at the grocery store and NGAF.
By far the red Corvette is the nicest of them all, but that white one REALLY improved with the new set of tires and balance! Also got a truck but that is in a state of repair after the kid smashed it. The storage insurance is reasonable, but when you put them on for road use they really stick it to ya. I can barely afford to keep two on the road and two on insurance! With the rest of them on their own.
