Well we can use this thread for any noteworthy commentary relating to the sham Trump impeachment trial...
So far, as I understand there is no electronics allowed, yet some senators have been spotted with Apple watches...
Also the only thing they are said to be allowed to drink is water, or milk - thanks to some old impeachment clause that says "milk isn't not allowed"...
And now, if that isn't enough - Hershey's just sent out 700 pounds of sugar to restock the Senate pantry! LOL
Yeah, it will keep the media busy, & adds tension since it's an election year.
The process is a long & drawn-out one, that's for sure, but impeachment is also a serious matter, & should be treated as such. The constitution says that "they" have to make the rules-up first, before the shooting match can start lol. ( The general trend in our media here is that it's a sham too, but let's face it, all regular media "is" sadly corrupted ).
Important to question everything in today's world imo.
I neither love or hate Mr.Trumpdt, he wanted the job, & was elected to do it. He also swore an oath to "serve & protect, & to uphold the law", not only US-of-A law, but international law & treaties also, as they're part of the job.
All this to say, I'm not sure he's the right man for the job, & it appears that there's no one else to choose from either lol.
Imagine how much better your economy would be doing if all the "unaccountable trillions" lost over the years in the defense-budget could be found...Or at least accounted for...And yet Donkeys & Elephants are both happy to increase further budget expansion in Defense spending without protest.
Hmmmm....

You're right, a trial without witnesses is a sham, and any resulting acquittal will never be seen by anyone as exoneration.
I guess to answer your question about what's next, I would imagine it would be to see if the American electorate is going to punish Republicans for the sham or not... Or if any attempt by the electorate to do so will ever come to light - what with democracy being dead now and all.
You can't tell me you expected any other result from the partisan vote in the House, could you?
The only thing you guys did here was give us a way to slow down your next superstar! You guys setting the bar so low and all..
The real shame here is the fact that Democrats have lost all credibility and thus the "next" time, or a time when it's important - no one will believe them. It sets up a spooky stage but then again when I seen that party line vote in the House to impeach that was spooky too.

It seems democracy has been gone for a long while now...We've all been kidding ourselves...

I mean it was an absolute Hail Mary play by Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats!
LOL !!!
That's why we need Nancy in 2020 !

Let me make a distinction here. While the House members voted along party lines, the impeachment articles were not based on partisanship, but rather a fear that another election would be tainted by foreign interference, this time with the president personally soliciting it by using taxpayer dollars as leverage to help himself personally.
The evidence for this as presented by the impeachment managers was so overwhelming even without witnesses, that Republican Senator Lamar Alexander didn't even need any further witnesses to be convinced of Trump's guilt in the matter, here is his statement:
I worked with other senators to make sure that we have the right to ask for more documents and witnesses, butthere is no need for more evidence to prove something that has already been proven and that does not meet the United States Constitutions high bar for an impeachable offense. The Constitution does not give the Senate the power to remove the president from office and ban him from this years ballot simply for actions that are inappropriate.
The question then is not whether the president did it, but whether the United States Senate or the American people should decide what to do about what he did. I believe that the Constitution provides that the people should make that decision in the presidential election that begins in Iowa on Monday. Our founding documents provide for duly elected presidents who serve with the consent of the governed, not at the pleasure of the United States Congress. Let the people decide. Senator Lamar Alexander
My only disagreement with Senator Alexander, is that I feel crimes against democracy itself are among the highest of crimes, and certainly warrant removal from office. Senator Alexander seems to think that letting the people resolve the issue in an election will solve the problem. I disagree because the crime here is to tamper with the election itself. Had Obama done the same thing, I would want him gone too. But Obama would never even consider doing such a thing, because Obama believes in winning on his merits without any foreign interference - like a man.

Of course you do donkey, of course you do..
And Obama? Pfft, had we only known what we know now... We could have had that guy impeached twice! Instead, we just shut it down. Like I said, it was a Hail Mary play that Pelosi should have already known she didn't have the bi-partisan support of! Democrats thinking they are so important that their partisan scams should warrant the power to remove a freely elected President are laughable and you should all feel like fools!
See you at the polls sucka!
TRUMP 2020!

Donald J. Trump acquitted of all charges in the Senate!
And that turn-coat Romney! So disappointed in that guy! Can't believe I voted for him at one time! He should drop out of the Republican party and go join the Democrats! I know sometimes I have my moments, but never have I ever turned against my party when it comes to the vote, even when it was Romney's dumb ass running for President! We all stood behind him, but he did not extend the same courtesy to us! Just pathetic, really!

Romney showed loyalty to the truth above party, I commend him for it, and wish more in your party showed that level of courage and morality.
I find it interesting how quickly you abandon the former Republican nominee for president. A man for whom I can find a great wealth of praise on this site from you. It makes me wonder if you would abandon Trump in a circumstance where he chose truth over loyalty to a future Republican president?
We all know that would never happen though. Which goes to show how much better off we would be as a country with a president Romney, rather than Trump.
Funny, he seemed more like a man with a grudge with his little stunt if you ask me... it's one thing for him to voice his opinion, it's a whole other thing to diss his ENTIRE party to get a grudge dig in on the President!
I mean c'mon PowerStroker, you see how screwed in the head Pelosi and the squad have been! Ripping up papers like a spoiled baby, not showing House decorum and trying to usurp the peoples vote with a partisan sham impeachment! These people (read that as many Democrats) have serious mental issues, they should not be in public service!
Of course you agree with Romney, he is turning on his own party! It's really no different than in sports, you play to help the team and what Romney did was wrong! He let the entire party down and I think it's time he joined your party!

What Romney did was an attempt to save the credibility of a party that cares nothing for truth anymore. I'm afraid it won't be nearly enough though.
If Obama had committed the same crime as Trump, would you not want him removed from office? Political affiliation should have NOTHING to do with truth and justice, and apparently senator Romney is currently the only Republican in Congress who understands this.
I think you're having a mental episode PowerStroker, President Trump was acquitted and when we take the House in 2020 we're going to expunge this little partisan tirade the Democrats pulled.
It is YOUR party that has the credibility problem PowerStroker and this will be further proven come November 2020 when you will once again get smacked up the side of the head with reality.
But just think, maybe now that the Democrats have shown us how to pervert the system we can get rid of term limits, that way the liberal scum can be properly vanquished from public office and living on the streets of San Fransisco where they belong.
My two cents, keep the change you filthy animals! LOL

Yes Rastus, however if you read into it you'll see that the SCOTUS ruling will give him just enough time to keep his tax returns private until after the election, if not indefinitely.
I normally would expect to see a Presidents income taxes, but since Trump has donated all his pay checks to the United States I feel his tax returns should not be anyones business.
Call me old fashioned.

Right, no one runs for the paycheck but too many run for the perks and lobbying money. How did anyone, Piglosi, Maxdog, Fienswiene, Shoemer for example become worth so much on "the" paycheck?
His PAY CHECKS for his government job is enough for you to be satisfied?
WOW, Talk about focusing in on a single drop in an otherwise vast ocean.
Nobody becomes President for the paycheck, and nobody running has needed a paycheck in a very long time.
I would be more interested in seeing the tax returns of people like Obama who entered the White House poor and exited rich, rather than seeing someones like Trump's who entered the White House a billionaire to begin with.
Not all Presidents were rich when they entered office, and not all of them were rich when they left office! But in the case of Democrats they always seem to leave public office rich as hell! I think we need to see their tax returns more than we need to see Trumps!

Now-now Shawnee...
Nancy's contributions are priceless, & I at least insist that you give her as much praise & thanks as Mr.Trumpdt.
Her value is priceless :) !
Her presence & input remind me of that late 1970's show called "Soap"...And this show reflects on Congress with some irony lol !
