Makes you wonder if they were shipping any electric vehicles... You know they are always good for a spontanious combustion out of the blue here and there!

Great point.

That said, most regular cars don't carry much fuel onboard either, it would be lucky to be 5.0-ltrs in the tank, & 2-3 of those liters supplied just fill the fuel-lines & EFI fuel rail...This actually makes for a better chance of explosion too...All it would take is someone on-watch lighting a cigarette out-on-deck with the sun rising & fuel-vapor venting & kerboom !!!

Modern day EVAP systems ensure that isn't really a problem on the newer cars that were on board.

But it's a moot point because the ship has sunk in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean!

The article above states that both gasoline AND electric vehicles were aboard. Further, the vestle could transport up to 4,000 vehicles.

VW says the vehicles were insured...

As VW also owns Lamborghini, the article also says there were also some Lambo's on board!

So if you have the means to dive 15,000 feet, you might be able to hook a sweet deal on a slightly water logged Lambo! LOL
