Guy... let me just say your sources are pretty ignorant on this matter! I am very familiar with Howell! A lot of people who work for Fords live out there! I have a lot of friends and some family that live there! It's a great area and has expanded incredibly over the past 30 years!

This crap your article suggest about the KKK is the first I am ever hearing about it in my life! It's total BS!

Now Dearborn Heights is a WELL KNOWN racist area -- primarily arabs. Back in the 1980's and 1990's it was well known you didn't go there if you were black! May still be that way now, but I don't get out there anymore.

You know, Minnesota is well known for their racist BLM areas...

All I can figure is you're just upset you can't get a free vasectomy at the DNC convention in Chicago this week. Had you only had waited you could have gotten one for free this week! They are even offering free abortions! All this in a Planned Parenthood bus.

https://www.foxnews.com/true-crime/planned-parenthood-offering-free-abortions-vascetomies-dnc

I don't care what anyone says! That is fu@ked up! What party actively promotes their constituents to kill their kids (abortion) and castrate their men and women? The Democrat party! That is who!

What sense does that even make? They could be killing off future voters! But they don't care because Democrats aim to replace their constituents with illegals!

Your party is REALLY screwed up man!

I had a vasectomy at 26, and insurance paid the full bill.

Thanks for clarifying that particular area of Michigan hasn't had any KKK activity in a while, that's good to know!

I'd wager to say that childbirth is pretty high up there in terms of routine expenses for health insurance providers... it makes sense they would gladly pay for a vasectomy.

I just don't think it's the kind of thing you advertise for at a political convention... and performing abortions in a Planned Parenthood RV at the DNC convention is just downright spooky!

Dude! I had a hard time believing it myself when the story first broke on Twitter -- but it's TRUE!

I attached a link above! Yes it's Fox News, but it's being distributed on Yahoo and many other syndicates! You might not like Fox News, but they are no better than CNN! For the record, I use CNN in my supporting links from time to time too!

Search it on Bing! Planned Parenthood is going to be there in one of their buses and is offering free vasectomies and abortions!

Planned Parenthood prescribes and provides abortion PILLS from their mobile clinics. They don't perform surgical abortions in a van. I'm pretty sure that would need to be an in office procedure in case there are complications. At least in the blue states we worry about such complications. It's the red states that do it in a back alley with a coat hanger, and to hell with the complications, even if they are fatal to the woman.

We could all learn a lot from Planned Parenthood.

Didn't somebody catch them selling baby tissue in California, and rather than go after Planned Parenthood -- Kamala (DA in SF at the time) went after the whistleblowers?

I think this was sometime around 2015...

You don't remember that?

LOL,

Stellar has been elusive to-say-the-least, to only sniff at PowerStrokers bait, & not fall victim-by-association via the Don to the KKK...

Everyone knows Stellar is not a racist...In fact, he hates everyone lol !

As for Planned Parenthood, it's history goes back to when the Nazis were celebrated as good folks, & eugenics decided who lived & died, via who was sterilized & who got to have a family...People were even taken to courts to have these decisions made...The Eugenics Society actually had a name change into Family Planning...( Cough, cough )...

The Don & genocide-Joe are sadly two faces of the same coin. And the corrupted Corporate Dictatorship you both live under is falling apart before us all thankfully.

Everyone would do well to watch all-of-the-show-below yo...

No, this goes back into some history that hasn't been discussed, even in the UFO thread, as it goes back a long, long time, such that these people were only interested in interbreeding with themselves & other wealthy families / aristocracies, so as to keep the blood-lines pure...But their methods & goals failed, up-to-a-point.

Certain Jews are persecuted because they own "everything" & then sell or rent it out to other people via their own banks with interest. It's been this way for a long time, & that was what Hitler essentially wanted to rid the world of, essentially a Jewish owned & ran world ( or at least a cartel of which still runs things today, look at your own country & how it kisses Israeli ass ).

So from a certain POV, Hitler wanted to free the world of this cartel, but also wanted to take its place. And instead of a Jewish ran world insistent of Israel being their property, he wanted via Eugenics / Family Planning, an Aryan race to rule & dominate via threat of a gun held to your head via Military Laws, like how matters are in many ways today.

We have to remember that all this war in the Middle east will be over within 100-years, & the land uninhabitable, since the use of Depleted Uranium will ensure everyone is made extinct, & the problem disappears.

But there is still this Cartel to deal with, that cares less for Aryan supremacy or Jewish banking dominations, as it is its own "Secret Gov't" of approx 8,000 people, that have used YOUR taxes via USAP's, to build the most technologically advanced weaponry ever known, typically by downing & reverse engineering ET space-craft. Apparently its off-world leaders have been removed, & it's "shake-down-street" for now, until the dust settles...

Get into CE-5, learn the truth, & you'll have everything to look forward to !!!

Gee, thanks Rastus... I think? confuse

I've had my issues in the past with "The Don", but seeing what they did to him this last time as they weaponized the justice system to "get Trump" -- and even after watching clips of the DNC convention and how scared they are -- even going so far as saying "The ONLY thing we need to do is make sure Trump doesn't get back in there" says a whole lot! They all know what they did! They even put Joe Biden out to pasture because things got so out of hand that he has become a risk... while he has immunity, none of the rest of them do! To see Obama and his snaggle toothed wife up there doing everything in their power to divide the nation and race bait everyone of color to voting for them -- I'm sick of it! Obama is no longer President! Neither is Clinton -- so why are they rolling out Hillary? It's pathetic! It's out of hand!

But such is the ways of an election year! Although I will agree it's getting worse and worse -- especially now with the internet and 24/7 media coverage, along with social media!

From the way Obama and Moochelle were talking tonight -- it's clear they are only interested in dividing this nation! Meanwhile all of Obama's Muslim brothers in Chicago outside of the DNC convention were rioting and burning American flags -- ALL WHILE THEY GAVE THEIR SPEECHES!

ALL of this stuff started under Obama! That is when respect was thrown out the window and his race bating had a lot of white people (ignorant people, like PowerStroker) who were no longer using merit as a metric for political consideration -- but rather guilt for things that happened in the past that have nothing to do with us. How the Obama's can get up on that stage and talk about generational wealth as if it were some kind of affirmative action -- all the while having what amounts to four mansions and probably billions of dollars is just despicable.

If Trump gets in there, and appoints RFK to oversee the CIA -- I got a feeling we're going to see some stuff go down... The Obama's have crossed a line and their disdain for this nation is on full display! As hard as it's been to deal with Obama's racist baiting and sometimes treasonous actions while President -- it will have ALL been worth it if we can pull the mask off Obama and let everyone see him for who he really is! A pathetic little loser, a silver tongue devil who has dreamed of destroying the American way of life every since he was a messed up little kid living in Kenya.

You can tell Obama controls Kamala -- that is why Kamala was not at the DNC convention tonight! Because we are more or less watching a coup d'etat unfold in front of our very eyes! Joe Biden was literally overthrown by his own party! The major players are all two-faced American haters -- Obama, Pelosi, Jeffries, Pencilneck, George Clooney (aka Hollywood) , and of course the squad. They more or less told Biden he had to resign, so they could slide Kamala in there -- mind you Kamala was so unpopular with the American public (Democrats included) that she never even got a SINGLE delegate during the 2019 Democrat convention. She even dropped out! But they have rammed her down the Democrats throats -- and ALL of them are pathetic and complicit in this scheme because Biden's mental health has been in decline for MUCH-MUCH longer than they have let on -- in fact they gamed it to make sure the timing would ensure they could pull a scam and fast track Kamala in to being the Democrat nominee at the last minute. The whole situation makes me realize that Democrats probably DID steal the election back in 2019! All the Democrat governors in the swing states abused the intial two week COVID shut-down. Then they used it to mail ballots to everyone, regardless if they registerd or even asked for one! They locked down the counting booths -- taped up the windows and we watched as the vote-count got rigged in the wee hours of the morning. What the Democrats did with Biden's mental decline -- how they hid it from the American public and others, to time it where they could force Kamala's nomination while kicking Biden to the curb just shows these people may have committed pre-meditated crimes.

As for Joe Biden... his name means SH!T anymore. He is a cheating quitter -- regardless if he's mentally incompetent! He will be nothing but a punching bag for all the Democrat crooks who are lathering on FAKE words of praise -- just long enough to get him out the door before they lay the blame for the last 4 years on his shoulders. Biden should have stood up! But he didn't! And if he was mentally incompetent -- his FAMILY should be standing up! But they arent! So they will share in his infamy.

Watching all of this unfold since Obama took office has been painful... Democrats have been in charge for 12 out of the last 16 years -- but somehow it's all Trump's fault?

If Trump wins and is given another chance -- he had better go after these people and drain the swamp once and for all or his family and the people who supported him will all pay the price. It shouldn't have to be this way! But again, this all started when Obama divided the nation and tricked a bunch of idiots into feeling bad for something they had nothing to do with. Obama is a con-man in my opinion. The entire Democrat party seems to be nothing more than organized criminals working to destroy the country. I think they all are under the foolish impression that they could rebuild it to their liking -- but again they are a very ignorant people and do not realize that it will only serve to destroy the country -- and that is the division that would see Americans picking a side and killing each other over it like they do in the middle east. That is what Democrats want! You can see this is how they think after this scam they pulled on the American public with Bidens real mental state. You can see this by how they want to pack the Supreme Court because they don't currently have the majority... you can see it in the way they want to insert Kamala as the Democrat nominee, the voters be damned! Democrats, just like Republicans -- all took time out on Primary Election day to cast their vote. Republicans picked Trump, Democrats picked Biden!

If you're a Democrat who voted for Biden at the primaries and are now getting Harris -- and it doesn't bother you -- then perhaps maybe YOU are part of the problem too! It's unacceptable! Democrats have been lied to about Biden's health... he should have stepped down LONG AGO! Further more it brings in to question WHY Joe Biden is still the President? It's like we should all just ignore the fact that nobody knows who's running the country right now? Because it sure as hell isn't Biden!

I have a feeling that if you actually witnessed Trump commit a crime, any prosecution against him would still still be a "weaponized" justice system in your mind.

Thing is though, he actually is a criminal, and has been since long before he ever got into politics. Maybe that's why you like him? Are criminals macho?

I'm sorry PowerStroker but you're a well known political hack, a union pawn if you will.

Your opinion on Trump carries no weight here... much like how the SCOTUS ruled on all the cases your party tried to rail-road him with.

At this point they are just giving you people rope.

Yo,

You're both winding yourselves-up for nothing. Both sides are crooked. But here's a recap of Mr.Trumpdt & his antics to refresh our hosts short memory...

2015 White Nationalism Awakens
The Escalator
Trump comes down escalator to declare both his candidacy for the Presidency and his view that many Mexicans are rapists.

2016 Grab them by the p****
Access Hollywood Tape
In a shocking breach of decorum, Candidate Trump is caught on tape being wildly inappropriate and sexist with the on camera team at ``Access Hollywood``. While this would normally sink a candidate of the religious right, pastors across the country defended the twice divorced adulterer.

2016 Endless Grift
Trump University
Single handedly steals money from the working class on a straight grift. A sign of things to come in the Trump Administration.

2017 Immigration is for European Wives
Muslim Ban
In an order crafted by Trump strategist Stephen Miller, the Trump Administration sought to ban immigrants from countries that housed primarily Muslim people. No word on how that affects white europeans willing to sleep with Trump.

2017 Immigrant children don't count
Family Separation
In a move of shocking cruelty, the Trump Administration makes the decision to separate immigrant children from their parents at the United States border.

2017 Purging of the disloyal
Firing Comey
After asking for personal ``loyalty`` and being refused, Trump sacks Comey to install a loyalist as FBI director in order to ease pressure on investigations into collusion between the 2016 campaign and foreign agents.

2017 Good People on Both Sides
Unite the Right
At a rally designed to protest the removal of confederate monuments, agents of the Alt-Right, Neo-Nazis, and White Nationalists converged on Charlottesville, Virginia to flex their ideological muscle under a resurgent racial supremacist movement. Trump's statement gave false equivalency to the protesters and counter-protesters, saying there were ``very fine people on both sides``.

2018 130k well spent?
Stormy Daniels
Trump likes to be spanked, too bad he gave Ms. Clifford $129,250 more for a little paddling than he gave the U.S. Treasury in Federal Income Tax most years...

2018 Free Press can't mess with MBS
Jamal Khashoggi
Veteran Washington Post reporter Jamal Khashoggi was assassinated, likely by Saudi Arabian crown prince Mohammed bin Salman. The Trump administration never faltered in their support of the royal family, potentially due to MBS' ties to Kushner.

2018 I need you to do me a favor
Ukraine Scandal
Trump attempted to blackmail Ukraine, by withholding aid, into providing dirt about former Vice President Joe Biden. Transcripts show that Trumps decision to award aid would be contingent on Ukraine doing him a 'favor'.

2019 It's getting hot in here...
Paris Climate Accord Withdrawal
Abandoning the Paris agreement is cruel to future generations, leaving the world less safe and productive, Andrew Steer, president of the World Resources Institute, said in a statement. It also fails people in the United States, who will lose out on clean energy jobs, as other nations grab the competitive and technological advantages that the low-carbon future offers.

2019 High Crimes and Misdemeanors
Impeached Part I
On charges of Abuse of Power and Obstruction of Congress, President Donald J. Trump was impeached in the House of Representatives by a vote of 228-193 on December 18th 2019 and acquitted in the Senate in February 2020.

2020``It's going to go away``
Failed Covid-19 response
When not supporting unproven drugs, ignoring CDC advice on masks, or running super spreader events, the Trump administration actively cast doubt on state efforts to combat the disease resulting in tens of thousands of excess deaths.

2020 Why should I go to that cemetery? Its filled with losers
'Losers' + 'Suckers'
After receiving five deferments from the Vietnam draft (4 for education, 1 for 'bone spurs'), President Trump piled on his insults of Senator McCain and Gold Star families by skipping a visit to a cemetery of American war dead filled with 'suckers'.

2020 If you're reading this, you paid more in taxes than Trump.
$750
After years of Trump choosing to dodge Presidential disclosure norms, the New York Times released a blistering report outlining just how little he paid in federal taxes. Under audit? More like under water...

2020... and still learns nothing.
Trump catches COVID
After having a super spreader event at the Rose Garden to dance on Justice Ginsberg's grave, Trump and much of his inner circle came down with Covid right before his first tussle with Biden. He may have been infected during the debate, but he still refuses to release the date of his last negative test, opening himself to charges of dangerous negligence.

2020 Zero Tolerance tears families apart
Migrant Children Lost
Lawyers appointed by a federal judge to identify migrant families who were separated by the Trump administration say that they have yet to track down the parents of hundreds of children and that about two-thirds of those parents were deported to Central America without their children.

2020 `It's over when I say it's over``
Subverting the Count
Once it became apparent that former Vice President Biden had not only won, but had a clear path to 270 electoral votes, President Trump took to the stage in the twilight hours to cast doubt on the validity of an American election with allegations of fraud and theft, even prior to the full vote being counted. A move that would have made an aspiring dictator proud, and a dark day for the republic.

2021 Light the match, start the insurrection.
Storming of the Capitol
On January 6th, the day that the legislature gathered to certify President-Elect Joe Biden's convincing electoral college win, President Trump attended the ``Stop The Steal`` rally, and inflamed his most diehard MAGA supporters to storm the Capitol, resulting in the first armed breach of the building since 1814, over two centuries. With months of overheated and deceitful rhetoric resulting in injuries and death, this event provides a terrible closing argument to the corrosiveness of Trump's tenure and the MAGA movement. (Photo: Tyler Merbler)

2021 Tweets have consequences
Social Media Goes Dark
Just days after the insurrection at the Capitol, at least partially inspired by President Trump's rhetoric and tweets, social media platforms across the spectrum either banned or restricted Trump's access. Facebook, Youtube, and even Twitter made this move as a hedge against future incitement of domestic terrorism. Without his favored medium to convince and influence his base, this move raised the question of how his post-Presidency media presence would look. Discussions about the use of media platforms and free expression dominated the discourse in an environment where services such as Parler were de-platformed and institutions such as banks and the PGA tour cut their ties with Trump.

2021 Higher Crimes, Hold the Misdemeanors
Impeached Part II
On a single charge of Incitement of Insurrection, President Donald J. Trump was impeached in the House of Representatives by a vote of 232-197 (with 10 GOP members voting Yes) on January 12th, 2021. Trial in the Senate is pending a new Democratic led Senate in 2021. This makes Trump the first president to be impeached twice, and the first to potentially face a Senate trial after his term ends.

2022 The archives are next to the wine cellar...
FBI search of Mar-A-Lago
On August 8, 2022, the FBI executed a search warrant at the presidents residence to recover classified documents that were allegedly in his possession unlawfully. DOJ subpoenaed footage shows boxes moved out of storage, with the DOJ stating that records were likely concealed and removed to block investigation. Allegedly. over 13,000 government documents were removed, with some being about highly sensitive matters such on nuclear and national security interests.

2022``You have the right to remain silent``
Former POTUS Arrested
On April 4th, 2023, Donald Trump became the first former President to be criminally arraigned in United States history. With a multi-count felony indictment now in play in ``The People of the State of New York v. Donald J. Trump``, this is the most serious criminal jeopardy a former head of state has faced in America since potentially Richard Nixon. With other potential criminal and civil cases under investigation (including Georgia election interference, Federal document mishandling, and civil sexual assault), this case might come to represent the first step in a long legal reckoning of Trump's actions and legacy.

2023 ``Being arrested is so nice, let's do it twice``
Former POTUS Arrested... Federally
On July 13th, 2023, Donald Trump became the first former President to be *Federally* criminally arraigned in United States history. With a second multi-count felony indictment now in play in ``The United States v. Donald J. Trump``, Trump's already deep legal jeopardy gets worse. Unlike the New York State case, which involves an admittedly less serious crime (paying off an adult film actress), this case alleges that Trump treated classified documents so carelessly to have endangered national security. (photo: Jud McCranie)

2023 Former POTUS Arrested... Federally... Again
On August 1st, 2023, a Federal grand jury approved an indictment for Donald Trump for conspiracy to defraud the United States for his actions regarding the January 6th insurrection. Thus Donald J. Trump became the first former President to be *TWICE* Federally criminally arraigned in United States history. With a third multi-count felony indictment now in play in ``The United States v. Donald J. Trump (II: The Revenge)``, his already insane legal jeopardy gets truly dire. This criminal case is the most serious to date as it charges Trump with a historic conspiracy to disenfranchise millions of Americans

2023``Blue Steel``
Former POTUS' first mugshot
On August 24th, 2023, Donald J. Trump turned himself in to Fulton County Jail to surrender and post bond on a 13 count indictment, included racketeering and soliciting a public officer to violate their oath. Thus Donald J. Trump became the first former President to have a ``mugshot`` taken. With a fourth multi-count felony indictment now in play in ``The State of Georgia v. Donald J. Trump``, we see a shift in his legal jeopardy as he can NOT be federally pardoned in a state case. In a twist, Trump also used a bail bondsman, an odd decision for someone with a (claimed) net worth in the billions. No news yet on if this is merely a viral marketing scheme for a ``Bad News Bears`` reboot...

As you can clearly see, America is riddled with problems...

And as for Genocide-Joe, his name says it all.

So it seems that with this election, you can elect either a national criminal, or an international criminal.

Great !

Biden was in Howell in 2021... So I guess Biden is KKK affiliated now?

People in the Union, you know the ones that cannot negotiate for themselves, really shouldn't have a vote... their Union should get ONE vote that covers all their members because it's clear that the Union forces people to vote a specific way, and as such -- whatever you say cannot be taken at face value because you lack the ability to care for yourself... sort of like a small child.

I'm sorry PowerStroker, but you can't have it both ways... you're not going to have your cake and eat it too -- at least here on this forum.

Please get back with us when you are able to take care of yourself. Thanks!

No Rastus... PowerStroker is winding himself up for nothing because he lacks the ability to take care of himself, and thus relies on a corrupt agency to "collectively bargain" for him... this means he does not call the shots, he's like a kid in that he cannot take care of himself. All these unions do is make everything harder for people who do have to take care of themselves -- from tilting the insurance industry, taxes, increasing cost for Union products and YOU NAME IT!

I have a right to be upset because we had some racist DEI and affirmative action folks last night at the DNC getting away with racist speeches... if it is okay for them to do it, then it should be okay for everyone!

The Democrats are some really twisted people... that they think nobody is taking notice, or that everyone buys into their bullshit is another story for another day. (November 6th)

I said I COULD pee in his cheerios, didn't say I actually did. But I did negotiate a better deal for myself back in 2017. All I had to do was accept a job at another dealership and then they were more than happy to sweeten the deal for me here.

2017 was seven years ago... have you not heard about the ongoing inflation problem gripping the nation?

You know, I don't have a problem with people who work for the Union... in fact I have a lot of friends and family who do! But I'm not going to let that get in the way of how I feel about Unions! I understand they are useful for large manufactures, just as much as they are detrimental... like a double edged knife. My problem is that there is corruption in the Unions as well! It's like another hand sticking out on pay-day. Not only that, I don't like how Union money is often times funneled into politics! Then there is the fact most people who work for a Union will tow the party line, just as they do with anything else the Union tells them to.

It's not for me... I'm shocked a Union even got in a dealership garage to begin with. But there is no low that the Unions won't sink to... they would try and Unionize a Taco Bell, or a supermarket if they thought they could carve out a good living on the backs of others.

In the Twin Cities area, there are 2 unions that represent dealership employees. The Teamsters covering mostly the West side (Minneapolis), and IAMAW representing the East (St. Paul) with some random overlaps. Each representing about 1/3 of the dealers in the area, and the other third are non union give or take. Though in rural Minnesota, unions are almost unheard of at car dealers, it's mostly a metro area thing. I work at a Teamster represented dealership. Within the company that owns my dealership and about 25 others across a few states, my dealer is in the minority as most dealers in our group are non union. My dealer group uses the union pay scale as the basis upon which they structure pay plans for their non union stores. They offer a better 401k match to their non union dealerships, but we have MUCH better insurance, so all things factored, we end up with higher compensation overall. Most of the union dealers have a pension plan too, but that was discontinued at my dealership. The plan I negotiated for myself is a set premium across the entire incentive and guarantee pay matrix, automatically adjusting to maintain that premium whenever the annual cost of living increase takes effect. In that way it is inflation resistant, though over time, it becomes a smaller chunk of the overall so not entirely inflation proof.

Actually, the loss of the pension plan at my dealer is exactly what inspired me to seek and accept the other job, which is how I got the extra $ to stay.

Honestly though, I'm looking for an exit. There's no joy in this for me anymore and I'd like to find a different profession altogether. I took what I loved to do, and over the course of decades of making it what I need to do, it lost its luster.

As a mechanic myself it's not hard for me to understand where you're coming from... a lot has changed in the industry -- but mostly the vehicles we work on! And every year there are more changes, better ways of making jobs overly punishing to ensure people don't hang on to them vehicles forever. It's hard enough working on the cars, but it even gets to me when I have to tell someone they have an expensive repair! I try and do my best to help, but in some cases there is just nothing I can do -- and in others I get roped into jobs because they just unfolded once I got them apart and all the problems present themselves... keep in mind I am usually working on vehicles older than 10 years -- although lately I have seen vehicles much newer as people are blowing past their factory warranties milage faster.

Back in the day a head gasket on a Ford Escort was an afternoons worth of work, but now days with DOHC, VVT, Direct Injection, Turbo Chargers and all the emissions BS -- a simple head gasket job on a 4 cylinder is a MAJOR-MAJOR undertaking, and will usually take far longer -- but not pay much more! It's also getting to where every other year they are changing things up -- so it's hard to find parts that an an exact fit like in days past.

Then there is the fact that working on cars is hard work! It's taxing on the body -- cuts, dust, dangerous chemicals, working under 6,000+ pounds of vehicle... and it's expensive as all hell too! Tools arent cheap! And so long as you're working on cars, you'll always be buying new tools! I won't even get into the diagnostic end since most dealerships cover this with their own in-house equipment -- but for the independent it amounts to expensive updates year after year! Scanners are good for maybe six or seven years -- and even then you'll have to update at least a few times to keep up! On the AC side you got R12, R134a and now R1234YF -- and none of them are compatible. Thankfully you don't see too many R12 vehicles around anymore, but you still run into it from time to time! Hoists, Jacks, Tire Machines/Balancers, Alignment racks... trust me it's even worse for the independent!

But it's good money, and every time I have tried to escape (twice in my 20's) the money has always forced me to go back. 1st time I tried to switch from fixing cars to wearing suits and selling them... It was fun at first, but the politics of a dealership is in the sales department too -- not to mention you had to deal with lots of different people in the dealership, along with the customer. Then I just quit auto all together for awhile and tried living on love... that lasted about six months, and it was a lot of fun... but eventually you run out of money. LOL

So here I am... I have given up on giving up on auto repair. I have come to accept that this is the career that I have chosen -- and as much as it sucks sometimes, I know there is no other profession that I could be in and have the same high skill level (aka experience)...

Perhaps you just need to branch out and become your own boss... you could probably make about $150 an hour, and providing you don't have very expensive overhead you wouldn't need the kind of traffic that a dealership or some shop on a busy intersection needs. It's also a lot nicer when you don't have to employ people, at least when it comes to fixing cars because anyone that is really good at what they do isn't going to settle for dealership pay or the politics.

What else would you do?

On the basis that you're not in debt, & own everything apart from the need to pay regular bills, I suggest talking to your boss about making a 12-month contract with him, that's renegotiated every 12-months.

Working out what you'd like to do beyond "Mechanics" isn't easy, so time is necessary, & I'd either...

1. Ask to work a 9-day fort-night, with every second Monday off without pay. Time off is more important than your wages.

2. I understand that you guys only get 2-weeks paid annual leave, so take that, but ask for 4-weeks off in one hit, & go for a holiday somewhere overseas.

3. Buy a guitar or other musical instrument to occupy your time with that you'll enjoy playing.

4. Ensure you also spend some of the extra time with the little-lady too if possible.

5. Get into CE-5, learn the truth, & wait & see what positive changes will happen big-time afterwards !!!

Yo,

Why not get yourself a restoration project car PowerStroker ??? For sure you're tired of the trade & cars, but a restoration package might be just what you need, with the hard part deciding on a vehicle to restore.

Our host blew a massive opportunity with that 1975 Stingray, where all it needed was a 454 or similar, to have an excellent week-end cruiser with, but he was also restoring Goldilox at the time, which seems to have stalled understandably, since its not a new project...

Pick a car or even a motorcycle to spend some time bringing-back into good running order as a week-ender.

Motorcycles aren't cheap to maintain, & difficult to restore due to spare parts not being available, so maybe making 1 out of 2 bikes is possible. Your lucky now-days to have the same rolling chassis & plastics for 4-years, so spares stop once the new model comes out. The Hayabusa is a safe bet however, since the basic running-package is unchanged for over 25-years now. Lots of parts out there new, & still being made.

A motorcycle that's over 1,000cc's capacity & with 4-cylinders will put a massive smile on anyone's face, especially at WOT. You can tour the country & have the little-lady on the back without huge expenses. In fact, the money saved on fuel will pay for hotel accommodation on your week-ends away.

All the Japanese makers are good with the exception of Yamaha. You'll have back-up / parts all over the country, though you'll rarely need them, if at all.

Don't listen to Rastus... Restoring most vehicles is a worthless waste of money unless it's VERY rare... plus he drives his bike like a grandma. I had a Suzuki and the transmission lost a gear in short order.

R1. LOL !

R2. Restoring whatever you decide you want is just that. The money involved is not important, since you're getting what you want / need, & likely don't ever intend to sell.

*The idea behind keeping that beautiful 1975 Stingray are many...

1. It's pre-catalytic convertor, so there's 20-40-free horsepower available depending on engine size.

2. A 454 was a regular std fit in 1975, so no hassles with an engine swap / upgrade.

3. Everyday they get rarer & rarer, plus they turn 50 next year, ensuring a bump in interest & value.

4. Everyone appreciates the virtue of a 7.5-ltr engine & its easy-going, yet mind-blowing performance.

5. The 1975 Stingray looked awesome, & with a 454 V-8 living under-the-hood, there's not much else one could want with the package, (except maybe Anna Luna or similar yo) !

R3. LOL !

R4. The little 600cc Bandit you once had was only ever meant to be a compliant, easy-going all-rounder, that's as happy in city traffic as it is in cruising the open-road,  simply a cheap reliable runabout to get you from home to work & back. It's sales premise was for the time a no-fairing *naked work-horse, that actually started a whole market through the 1990's when "everyone" started making *naked / cafe-tourers...It's original design-brief was to show-off the 1970's-80's air-cooled motor with the uprated 1990's design chassis.

Some people managed a long & happy relationship with the little beast, whilst others decided to crap-out 2nd gear from doing endless burn-outs in their back-yards, because that's what they wanted to do, for whatever reasons...But even in doing countless burn-outs whilst crapping 2nd gear, its far more than even today's Harley could ever manage LOL ! And the likely top-speed advantage over any Harley is enough to make any Harley owner cry, yet alone reliability when treated with a little respect.

Anyone with a mind to destroy something can do it relatively easily, but how long can something last when treated with a little TLC ???...

I'm sorry Rastus, but again... the 1975 Stingray was liquidated because the owner got married and had a kid -- and as such wanted to go a different direction. Of course I saw to it that the details were executed quickly and with the least amount of hassel to the owner, outside of taking the lump buy-out money. I can't afford bankroll customer projects here, THIS ISN'T PIMP MY RIDE! I'm not working with a Hollywood budget (although I hear they are pretty tight).. and besides the earlier metal bumper C3 Stingrays are the ones that are pulling in the cash... the others may never match their value outside of ultra-rare and creampuff examples! Don't lay this bullshit at my feet! This is business! Not a Hollywood production!

Stellar, the point of it was that it looked hot, & only needed say a 427 engine transplant, & it would have been a great sleeper car, especially since the largest of GM's V-8's legally fit in there as OEM, so there's NO hassles, as it's an OEM upgrade, not a modification...

*Don't forget at how upset you were at PowerStroker's acquiring of a sublime 460-V-8...Yet alone producing a sublime thread about the rebuild process, & you surprisingly still haven't recognised the "ace-up-his-sleeve" that PowerStroker hasn't revealed to anyone, but I'll stay quiet, as it's not my business...

Also, since we are part of this planet, which is part of a greater system of planets that are part of a galaxy that makes the universe, I have to restate that our solar system has moved into a different part of the galaxies equatorial plane, & "female" energies are now more prominent coming through from the galaxies centre. Add in the increased solar-activity of our own Sun, & you can expect a lot of up's & downs in your own thoughts & feelings, as unhealed past emotions etc etc come to the surface of our thoughts, that need to be addressed, since we're moving as a whole into a new "density" / vibration. All these old wounds etc will come to the surface to be healed & vibrated away / left behind for good.

PowerStroker is likely waking-up to these expected experiences, & all he has to do is go-with-the-flow. It may even be his little-lady giving him a difficult time for sure, but everyone has to go through it. All I can suggest is reading through the Spirit thread for tools & guidance, & / or the UFO thread, namely the James Gilliland excerpts for confirmation.

Even Stoma has to deal with his own stuff !

Everything is fine with the lady, I'm just tired of the dealership pace and constant numbers game. All I know is I don't have another 20 plus years of it in me, and am very open to the idea of a complete career change if something better comes along. If I won the lottery, I'd probably buy and manage a campground or marina to occupy my time.

I hear you PowerStroker.

There are companies that know-nothing about the trade, that are employed to analyse & report on a businesses activity & how to maximize efficiency for greater profit, eg Deloit...

This is everywhere & you can't avoid it. Bullshyte like cameras & microphones etc invading the work-space, keeping an ever-watchful-eye on things, making sure production goals are reached.

It's likely your trade is graded similar to here in Oz, & if your prepared to go back to school & have your Certificate graded to "Heavy-stream", your options open right-up, where you can work at mines or even at sea, & quadruple or more your income, whilst having half the year off with pay...But you must obtain the ticket(s). The average wage now for myself is between 2-300-K per year depending on the contract as a Marine Engineer Officer, so its worth considering getting if you want the time-off to do what you want. But it also takes years to get the Certificates too.

Alternatively, Trade Schools are always looking-out for good trade teachers to educate the new motor-mechanics coming through. Wages aren't the best, but the job would be 10-times-more-rewarding than the current numbers-game you're forced to endure, & there's likely much more time-off per-year too. This avenue would only need a minor up-grade on your Certificates, but check local State requirements on what they want.

I hear the local PD is hiring lol !

Yes, the C3 Corvette is perhaps the most curvy looking body... they didn't call it the shark body for nothing!

But 1975 did not offer a big block! You would have to have purchased a 1970 C3 Corvette (metal bumpers) to get the factory big block!

I'm not sure what kind of shit you're trying to stir about PowerStrokers 460 truck, but it has nothing to do with your point because his CAME with the big block... a 1975 Sting Ray DID NOT!

I'd also bet you have never driven a C3 Corvette (the C3 ran from 1967-1982) but if you did -- you would know that these cars were so light, with such a small wheelbase that anything over a 350 (in proper trim) was more than the vehicle could handle without buffing out. I've never driven a big block C3 but I'd imagine it would pretty much be a measure of understeer driving abilities... even with slicks.

You are wrong when it comes a big block just dropping in a 1975 C3... but I don't expect you to understand that either.

Gee... sounds like maybe you just need a week long vacation camping!

When is the last time you went camping?

As far as the lotto goes -- oh boy! Let me tell you! If I won the lotto I might not tell anyone, but there would be signs! LOL

Yo,

I just found this video at Nick's from a few years ago, with a 454 OEM in a 1973 'Vette...And I have photos of a car a friend of mine had when we were apprentices of a '75 Stingray with a 454 on-board...( His Dad was an insurance assessor, & always had nice cars )

Thats cool and all Rastus, but the 454 was never offered in the Stingray in 1975... so your insurance adjuster buddy may have had someone fit a 454 into his 1975 Stingray, but it didn't come like that from the factory.

I think 1973 was the last year you could get the 454 in the C3 Corvette... 1973 is also the last year of the metal bumper C3's.

Still... 400HP is not impressive out of a large 454 engine... 350 engines, and even 302 engines can make that kind of power with just mild upgrades.

Just saying...

But I have driven large displacement engines (big blocks, Pontiacs and such) and they do make a lot of power and torque -- at much lower RPM's too... they are fun to drive! So I get it!

However they drink fuel like a sailor, and they are more expensive generally speaking.

R1. Who knows Stellar ? This was around 1990 perhaps, & the car "is" an import, & so could have been old-stock from 1973 that didn't sell, & was re-labelled with a new plate in 1975 when it arrived here...Plus it would have needed the RHD conversion done, since we drive on the other side of the road here in Oz. I'm not sure if GM did that State-side or it was done here privately once imported. Plus there was the Middle East wars & oil embargo's that meant no gas across America in those times that may have affected sales.

But what did happen circa 1974-76 across the US-of-I/UK, was the implementation of unleaded fuel & catalytic convertors, plus Ralph Nadar was shoe-horning with bad advertising the big-engine-gas-guzzling monster-motors in small cars scenario with success.

R2. I don't know either, but that black Stingray you had was quite a nice beast to my eyes. Much nicer that modern examples imo.

R3. True, but small V-8's don't make 5-600 lb/ft of torque either. This means you can leave the big-block in top-gear & enjoy masses of power from say 40-mph to 130-mph, & leave anyone else for dead on the hwy in top-gear. Easy-going motoring & longevity is what you pay the extra for.

R4. Careful reductions in crank-mass & other weight-saving tricks to better suit the big-bock for car, rather than truck use, will see vast improvements in mileage & performance, though you can't hide 7.5 ltrs of engine idling at the red- lights not drinking fuel...EFI will help for sure, but you don't want to be driving one in the city expecting great mileage figures. The open-road is where they start to shine.

R5. Amen !

R6. The MB 450SEL 6.9 which is 417 cubes, could manage 14-ltrs / 100-km travelled, which is close to your 20-mpg...This is highly affordable fuel economy, even today. Plus it delivered over 550-ft/lbs of torque, though the US-of-I/UK versions were smogged-out, & lost power compared against the Euro-versions delivered here in Oz. Awesome engines, with OHC & Fuel Injection. This shows how refinement can reap rewards. Keep using WOT however, & the mileage can quickly equal 24-ltrs per 100-km travelled, which is Cadillac territory lol !
