Well, depending on the year, it probably has all lighting controlled by the Body Control Module, which is a computer behind the dash that controls lots of different things. Whether the BCM has failed, or whether it is getting a false input from a shorted switch or wiring, or receiving bad data from a different computer over one of the networks is something that is best diagnosed by a dealership. Dealerships are more expensive, and it's not that they "screw" people, its that they have much higher overhead from having purchased millions of dollars in manufacturer specific tooling, and, as a result, are often the only place that can fix certain problems.

Thanks Darlin
Sometimes it wont unlock and the driver seat moves when I sit in it. Its a 2014 fully loaded so it seems everything is falling apart. Do any of you have an Elon Battlestar Galactic? I see a couple people in the neighborhood drive those. Pretty wonky looking. Guess Ill be going to the dealership tomorrow.

Thanks again PS!

Oh and power stroker..love your pic there! You do have to admit Big Daddys children admire the heck out of him. I truly believe he loves his country and doing a damn good job. Im sure most of us have had sordid experiences at some points in our lives. That guy is a machine!

Power locks on that car are also controlled by the BCM. Memory seat functions are not, but the BCM provides power to and communicates with the modules that do control seat movement.

The most common cause we see for BCM failure is water intrusion- usually from a leaking windshield, or, in rare cases, washer fluid being forced through the wiring into the car from an internally leaking washer fluid pump, but that is far more common in the Focus, I haven't seen that yet in a Fusion.

In the event you need a new BCM, you will need to bring all the vehicle keys to the dealer... Transponder key data is stored in the BCM, and installing a new unit requires at least 2 keys to be programmed to the vehicle, otherwise the process won't complete and the vehicle won't start. Any keys omitted from this process won't work anymore, so bring all keys you own with you just incase it needs a BCM.

Sad thing is thats the only Ford Dealership in Panama City - they service a bunch of cities and lord knows who else. I believe the mechanics would be 100% at t(eir knowledge but from what I remember the service advisor is out for $$$$$ not much different than any other business around here. Nobody really lasts that long in any job around here. I have to wait 2 weeks for a recall something to do with front breaks part.
The Car was an excellent car for me during its prime, now everything is starting to go, even that sparkle in the paint. At 11 years old with115,000 miles Ive decided to let it go and get a Tesla! Hahah. What would you suggest for an old lady with 2 dogs who ride in the back seat. Just something lite to whip around in better?!? Alone time I had a Cutlass Supreme with bucket sears. Too bad they discontinue some good ones.

Is Stellar still alive?

I'm still alive... sorry I didn't see your post -- you know how the end of July is around here. It reached peek insanity on the 29th when I booked a cruise aboard The Love Boat, but then later canceled due to the fact I'm not taking the risk in Roatan Island in Honduras. Just recently jumped thru all the hoops to get my Enhanced License, which means I didn't have a copy of my birth certificate or social security card -- so I went to both agencies and got new ones. Then I went thru the whole process of upgrading my "not real" ID to the new Enhanced License -- which is supposed to allow travel by land and sea to Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean Islands. Turns out Honduras could be an issue, so I decided not to go thru with it. I'm not one for going on cruises, but I'd like to have been able to say I sailed aboard "The Love Boat"... it was even with Princess Cruise Lines! LOL, sure the original Love Boat has long been cut up and melted down -- but the new one they were using (Regal Princess) was actually christened by Captain Gavin MacLeod and the rest of the cast from the Love Boat.

Anyway, sounds like your problem could be due to your alarm system, that would flash the parking lights... beyond that, not sure what you have done with it yet -- but, you could start pulling fuses for related systems and try to narrow down the circuit. This might be more than you want to do, but if worse comes to worse -- you could disconnect the battery to stop it from killing your battery and leaving you without a ride. You're right about the dealerships, they got a bunch of people like PowerStroker working there! LOL

I just had a 2002 Oldsmobile Bravado in here that would stall out whenever the AC was on, along with the left turn signal and headlights! I tracked down the ground and fixed it up -- it was somewhat tricky but in the end it's all better now.

As far as the Tesla goes, well... you could read my review on the Model 3 (In the Tesla forum). I rented one for a week in Texas and that car had a lot of personality. I'm sure working on them will be every bit as much of a pain in the ass as a Ford -- possibly even worse due to Elon trying to corner the market in repairs -- but just like Ford, the aftermarket will be finding work arounds.

Let me know what they found, if they even got it in yet... I've been busy as all hell over here, got them lined out to the frigging road at times! I can't keep up! But it's better than trying to train someone only to spend all that time and money and have them go change oil for Fords for $1 more.
